I'm a huge fan of Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters series and always look forward to reading one. The Night is Alive is set in one of my all time favorite places to visit, Savannah, Georgia, so this one already had that going for it. What absolutely hooked me was the addition of pirates! Yes, pirates! As with the other Krewe books, The Night is Alive included little bits and bobs of interesting historical facts about Savannah during the mid-1700s. In present day Savannah, though, we have Abby Anderson, a recent FBI graduate, who receives a cryptic call from her grandfather asking her to come home, but when she gets there, she finds him dead, She tries to convince the local police that her grandfather was murdered, but when they won't listen, she contacts the FBI's notorious Krewe of Hunters, who send FBI Consultant Malachi Gordon to investigate. When more people turn up dead, it becomes even more urgent to solve this puzzle before the list grows even longer.

I enjoyed the romance between Abby and Malachi but felt it was a bit rushed. The mystery was interesting, and although I ended up figuring out who the murderer was before the end, the why and how were a surprise.

All in all, I enjoyed The Night is Alive and look forward to continuing with the series.

4/5 stares.
