I enjoyed this book. Found it quite slow to start and get into the actual story but once it got going it was a good read.

It seems like a long time since I read the first three books in this series and I had to read the synopsis for them to remind myself where we were.
This book introduces Ellen Beckford and her sister Mary who are falling on hard time as her father is laid off from his work at the docks as he is accused of spying.
Ellen secures a part time job at Foyles and eventually trusts the other three girls enough to tell them what she is going through as she tries to clear her father's name.
This is a really good 4th installment in the series which I enjoyed very much.

It was so lovely to be back in Foyles Bookshop again getting to know the girls better. This is a wonderful family saga series and I can’t wait for the next instalment.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This moved too slow for me; I wasn't able to get into the story and there were several similarly-named characters.

This is a wonderful book. I haven't read the previous book, but I was still able to enjoy this!

I stopped reading when I realized less than 3 pages in I'd read the exact same paragraph before in a book by the same author about the same bookshop just with different characters, it appears this is a different take on The Foyles bookshop girls with paragraphs copied and pasted which I don't expect to see hence the one star

This for me had a bit of everything. Ellen and Mary Beckford’s lives changed when their mother unexpectedly died. Their father is very much struggling with letting his daughters live their lives but when he gets injured and can no longer work he has to let Ellen go out to work. Ellen and Mary always loved visiting Foyles Bookshop and when she is lucky enough to secure employment there she finds the shop girls take her very much under their wings. However things become more strained when her father is accused of being a spy. Can Ellen, and her new found friends prove his innocence? I loved the characters in this, the sense of friendship and inner strength from Ellen. Mary was my favourite and I absolutely loved the very wise Grandma Phyllis! I found this easy to follow and get involved in, plus I liked the fact that the outcome and how you got there wasn’t predictable. Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

Been so long since we visited the Foyle bookshop girls and was lovely to catch up with them. This latest instalment centres round a new bookshop girl who needs the help and support of the others. Ellen is the new girl working in the shop as well as a newspaper part time to help with money as her father is out of work due to an accident.
Then it all blows up Ellen’s father is arrested for being a spy, but to Ellen and the rest of the girls it dosnt add up. They go on a journey to prove her father’s innocence and catch the real spy.
Brilliantly written

A Wartime Welcome from the Foyles Bookshop Girls by Elaine Roberts

Another title in this great series . Now set in 1918 so getting towards the end of the war .
This time we are getting to know the Beckfords a little more . Sisters Ellen & Mary are under the watchful eye of strict father Harold after the death of their mother.
After his accident Ellen secured a job at Foyles , the much loved bookshop.
A really good plot in this book and enjoyed it as much as the others.

Another great book from Elaine Roberts. It’s great to be back at Foyles Bookshop in London during WW1. The shop girls stories have been told before so this time it’s the turn of the Beckford family. Ellen the eldest daughter has to take on more responsibilities as her Father is accused of spying. Lots of great characters as well as those you love to hate. Thanks to Elaine and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley

It's absolutely fabulous to be back once again with the Foyles Bookshop Girls.
1918 London, Ellen Beckford, finds a position in the London Bookshop after her mother's Ada's death and her father Harold been attacked at the Dockland and been accused of theft, she needs this job to keep them both and her sister Mary and grandma Phyllis in a home.
A captivation read, as Ellen finds friend's in her work colleagues that take her under their wings, there's more trouble ahead for her father, but he has a loving daughter in Ellen who is all out to proof his innocent as Molly, Victoria and Alice all rally round to help, this book is heart breaking as the family struggle on as Ellen finds herself out of work not just with one job but two.
I loved it enjoying every chapter and the characters, it's definitely a warm wartime welcome back for this series that the author has captured so well.

It feels like I've been waiting AGES for the next Foyles book by Elaine but it was so worth the wait! This book had everything you could hope for drama, romance, friendship and heart!
Elaine writes so well and her characters are so lovely.
I really hope there will be another book in the series before too long!

Brilliant! When I looked back to see when the last Foyles Bookshop book had been released I was shocked it had been so long ago! I immediately remembered I loved the books although it was a bit hazy to start with as to who was who! It soon all came flooding back!

The book is once again exceptional with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader interested. The newly introduced family are all so likeable and I was pleased Ellen's father became happier at the end of the book. John was an instant hit and I hope the next book sees more happiness for him and Ellen.

Highly recommend the whole series to those who enjoy historical fiction.

As always thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and of course Elaine Roberts for such a brilliant book.

Heartwarming historical drama set during the war. Part of a series, tho works as a standalone. Loved the characters but the story was a bit slow to get going.

I got confused it felt like a part of the series the foyles bookshop girls, but at the same time it did not. For me it was a book about family, how far you would go the save them , and strong female friendship.
It felt a little predictable ar times , but still a good read with sprinkles.of a detective story vibes.
Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion

What a joy to return to the friendship of Foyles!
Like some youngsters, Ellen and Mary Beckford think their father Harold is strict or grumpy. It’s not until after the death of their mother that they realise it’s probably been worrying about not having work or enough money to pay bills and buy food that’s made him appear like that.
When Harold gets injured at work Ellen decides she needs to take on some of the household responsibility. Knowing that Harold is against her working she decides the ideal place to try would be Foyles as she has spent so much of her young life in there with her mother buying and reading books, and is familiar with staff. Ellen is delighted when she get work for a few days a week, will her father feel the same.
Ellen’s problems are not over. When her father’s office at the docks is broken into and he is placed under suspicion, it’s how best to prove that he’s not guilty. This is where the Foyles family come into their own, Molly with her forthright manner, Victoria ever caring and Alice the sensible one.

I loved the assortment of characters, my favourite was Mary, always ready with backup. Least favourite was Irene, hard.
I was so pleased to get another unexpected in this series. Loved it.
