Thank you Net Galley and Publishers for letting me read an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

So I decided to try a new book different from what I usually read, and unfortunately it didn't work out. It wasn't awful, but it just wasn't for me. I really couldn't tell you what this book was about because it took a really weird turn after 100 pages. Yeah it took 100 pages for it to kinda get interesting, it was a really slow read for me. I skimmed over alot of it cause it was too detailed. It could have been shorten greatly and still gotten the point across. It's told in 4 parts with a LA bar being the main background. The first 3 parts are about the bartender and patrons of the joint with the last part being about the bar itself. Where this book got weird and kinda interesting was the science experiments going on and the space exploration happening. I won't spoil anything else, but it got sci-fi ish. Definitely a cool concept but it could have been done better.

thank you netgalley for the e-arc. this is an example of how you do multi-pov, multiple, distinct characters well. the only confusing thing (which i always have a bit of trouble with) was when the tense changes fluidly.

A captivating narrative divided into four distinct perspectives. While the story could benefit from some polishing, its compelling plot and intriguing characters make it a throroughly enjoyable read. Thank you for this ARC.

A multilayered story of stories, different characters and POV. The story of a bar, of the people who are the usual customer and the aread where they are
Not always easy but well done

Thank you to the author and publisher for this ARC! To start, the overall themes and idea of this story are interesting. The read is easy, but the grammar and prose made it a bit difficult to get into in parts. I'd like to read this after it's been through another edit, as I think that it would make the story easier to follow. I had trouble finding a lot of presence for this publication online, but I think that with the right editing and advertising, it could definitely be a successful book! Wishing all well!

This is a super interesting concept and very relatable to lots of people. I think it could maybe use a bit more polishing to correct the tense changing and solidify the stream of thought but it was a really interesting and chill read.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This story has potential and the premise is interesting, if a bit ambitious. Told through different characters and in different worlds, there are a lot of moving pieces.

The tense changes and mix of run-on (ex. "When we reached their South Austin home on the west side, my mom would slingshot herself out of the car before we even came to a stop and sprinted to her sister who would be standing on the porch along with the rest of the family anticipating our arrival.") and incomplete sentences, as well as the erratic structure, took me out of anything the narrators are saying.

The video game section (at least, I think that's what happened) is where it went really off the rails for me, and by the end I was even more confused than when I started.
