It's everything I expected. If you follow Adam Ellis on any social media then you'll love this. If you don't, follow him first then give this a read if you like what you see.
I liked all the stories but one especially got a visceral reaction from me. I need another volume of this now!
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
Full disclosure, I had already pre-ordered this. And it's still on pre-order. I must own it.

I read this specifically to get more into horror and this was such a creepy yet exciting and very captivating way to do so? I will be reading more of their work bc wow, I want more

This was EXCELLENT. I’m a big fan of Adam & his work, and have been eagerly consuming & enjoying his spooky comics for a few years now. When he announced his book, I preordered it immediately, and when I saw it on Netgalley, I requested it immediately… I was NOT disappointed. Equal parts funny and scary, Adam does a great job and pulling together imaginative and eerie stories that will have you tearing through this book in one sitting. While some of the comics you can find on his Instagram, he’s made some changes to a few of them, which I enjoyed. There are also some totally new stories which I really liked. This book was strange and scary and smart and so so good. I loved the comics, and I loved the note from Adam after each of them. Can’t wait to read more from Adam!

I was very surprised by this comic book. I saw this title in passing and thought it was interesting, because it plays on the vibe of numerous famous pieces of horror literature and media. It really does feel like watching Stranger Things or reading a Goosebumps book. The art style is different going from story to story. I thought that was very cool how the artist/author applied modern comic art techniques as well as older ones, in addition to taking on the anime style of manga comics as well. Very creative, and the effect kept things interesting because I wanted to see what the art would be like next. Also, the inspirations for this author's stories are intriguing. He includes a little blurb after each comic. These blurbs made the comics even better. This author has a dark sense of humor, which I always appreciate in horror writers and artists. I hope he decides to continue going down this road and opts to publish future comics because I really enjoyed them, and I think flash horror comics should totally be a thing. Like The No Sleep Podcast, but a comic book.

"Bad Dreams in the Night" really nailed the perfect balance of creepy and captivating. The stunning visuals and twisty plots have you turning pages late into the night (though maybe not too late if you want to avoid scary dreams!). Adam Ellis knows how to craft a story that sticks with you.
The Viola Bloom story was one of my favorite stories in the book! It's a standout not just for its creepiness but also for Adam Ellis's personal connection to the tale when he spoke about the things that happened in his personal life that made him fear going outside his home.
This book is terrific, and I give it five stars as a horror lover.

I’ve been reading Ellis’s comics for years, periodically reading through his Instagram. I’m used to his humorous work, but I’m always impressed when I read one of the horror comics.
Bad Dreams in the Night contains eleven short comics, some familiar and some new and range from merely unsettling to fully monstrous. I really enjoyed the collection and look forward to more of Ellis’s work in the future.

Proving to be a mixture of unsettling, darkly humorous and wholly creative.
I've read Adam Ellis online for a few years and they have always have a charismatic quality of their art; whether it's to cause laughs or nervous ones.
I think the milk door unsettled me the most, just because odd features in houses always creep me out. Also the write up at the end felt odd.
I think this would be a good book for horror lovers to give them a fresh take.

This is the perfect balance of horror and humour!
Adam Ellis has compiled some of his greatest horror comics in this collection and it definitely does not disappoint! They range from creepy, to unsettling, to downright horrifying. I especially loved the last story. It had a bit of a jump scare (how do you even add a jump scare to a book, genius!) and was brilliantly executed.
I really appreciated the explanations of inspiration at the end of each story, Ellis’ voice is so funny that it became a bit of a palette cleanser between each creepy story.
Perfect for fans of horror comics, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, or just fans of Adam’s in general!
