Boy George is an interesting person! Listening to this audiobook felt like having a long gossip session with a friend, especially when he finds an amusing moment and chuckles. I found his stories to be fascinating but a little difficult to follow because it was more steam of consciousness rather than a set timeline. There’s a lot of funny asides made that had me laughing out loud and even more name dropping. The songs added in here and there, original compositions, were fun and broke up the stories nicely. This was an honest and fun glimpse into his life and exploits.

Thank you to NetGalley, Boy George and Dreamscape Media for gifting me an ALC of Karma, the newest memoir from Boy George.
I can’t imagine NOT listening to this book. Read by George himself, the audio is an absolute delight! If you grew up in the eighties this book is pure nostalgia. George doesn’t hold back from dishing on everyone and everything…from feuds to flirtations, appearances , attitudes, sharing his naughty thoughts and actions . It’s also about growth, maturity, acceptance and accountability. This was a great mood reliever- A wonderful distraction from current events..
And the audiobook includes a new song titled Religion, which is a real ear worm. Totally fabulous !

Boy George is definitely an icon in the musical world. Flamboyant and unabashedly himself, he rose to fame in a world that was not yet accepting
of the LGBTQ community.

This audiobook is narrated by George, who tells fantastic stories about his time before and during Culture Club. He speaks very candidly about his drug use, his fall from grace, and his incarceration. It was lovely hearing him burst out laughing at some random recollection and snicker at his own jokes.
I also liked the stories of all the celebrities and how he met Princess Diana.

He speaks of love, loss, and his profound spirituality, which he says brought him great comfort throughout his life.

If you're a Boy George fan or grew up hearing his music, this is something you may enjoy.
The low rating is only for the performance of the audio. Someone should have coached him on how to read with more inflection and emotion. He's a little robotic 😆

I listened to the audiobook, which I think is really the way to go for memoirs narrated by the author. It seems so much more personal.

I have always loved Boy George and I had a great time listening to this book. He is very honest, telling bits of his life with lots of laughter, some in humor, some in self depreciation.

I learned a little bit about a lot of people while listening to this book. We get a lot about experiences with other celebrities, but we also get a lot of information about his drug use, his incarceration, his blunders, which I found so raw and honest.

He tells this story with such a candid humility and I really enjoyed it.

I’d like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I have been a fan of Boy George since I was a little girl in the 80s so I was excited to listen to this audibook. I finished it in one day, it’s like you’re having a conversation with him. Overall an interesting read and kept me listening from beginning to end.

I believe memoirs shouldn't receive star ratings because it's unfair to rate someone else's life, Though I understand that NetGalley will not let me upload a review without one. Please know that this rating in only for the audio production and not the story telling. I didn’t have too much of an idea of who Boy George was beyond a name, an image and WHAM, When I got the opportunity to listen to his memoir via NetGalley I was in. His story is fascinating as a child born in the late 80s, I realized that I do have more of an understanding of the pop culture icon than I expected when I picked up this audiobook. I enjoyed this audiobook for the most part. I did struggle with the performance of this audiobook because I found his little chuckles jarring. I do recommend this story if you are more of a fan of Boy George, as you may have more context to the world at this time.
