Remember "Freaky Friday?" That's "Switched," except the characters are a man and a woman, both brilliant scientists working at the CERN headquarters in Switzerland. Upon meeting, they spent one fabulous night together, and then, thanks to that brilliant plot wrench, misunderstanding/miscommunication, they now despise each other. Cue the lightning volt, and voilá, they're switched. Family crises ensue (of course they do!), and Serena and Henry are forced to spend more time together than they ever could have imagined AND forced to truly understand each other in order to fool their family members. Serena's American and Henry British, so the audio version of "Switched" incorporates their awkward attempts to learn each other's accents, on top of everything else. This all sounds incredibly silly, but in Sarah Ready's talented hands, it works. "Switched" is a delightful, thoughtful romance. Secondary characters include Jillian and Daniel from "Ghosted" (and I just saw that the series will include a third volume soon - yay!), but "Switched" can easily be read and loved as a stand-alone.

I have read and enjoyed all of Sarah Ready’s books so it was no surprise I liked this one as well. She is hilarious and makes her characters come alive. While this series isn’t my favorite by her- Josh and Gemma will always have that place- it’s still very solid. Lots of laughs, emotions, romance, and an interesting plot all wrapped into one enjoyable book. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were great. Highly recommend this one!

I've really grown to love Sarah Ready as a writer and her writing style is really unique. I love how her main characters are often in STEM fields and that she has good background knowledge to make their careers seem more believable and relatable. This one is definitely far fetched but if you can suspend your disbelief and just enjoy the story, you're in for a great ride. I really liked the way this story unfolded and the way it wrapped up naturally. I thought the relationship development seemed very organic especially for an inorganic situation. I really did not enjoy this book. The pacing was too slow, the dialogue was really strange, and all I could think about was how badly I did not want to finish this book. The "switch" did not happen until halfway through the book, and when it did, they spent a weird amount of time talking about how strange it was being in an opposite gender's body and ogling the body parts. I really would not recommend this book as I do not see anybody easily being able to enjoy it. I also thought that the narrator had. difficult time switching between American and British accents and it showed.

Serena is a wild one who loves just living life. Henry is a guy who loves love, He wants happiness and forever.
When Serena meets Henry, she has to borrow his jacket since her pants get stuck to a booth. It was a charming and funny meet-cute, that hooks you from the beginning. You think it would just blossom from there, but Henry is Serena's new boss.
After some time of working together and keeping distant, they don't seem to get along at all. Then one night while they argue about work, fate so has it they switch bodies. Between having to deal with each other's families and past, they learn more about each other.
This was all around, a funny read. Listening to how they switched and Serena having to deal with having a hard-on at random times. Henry dealing with having a period. I enjoyed this so much there was a lot of science talk too. You can read it as a standalone but it is a series.

Serena was sitting in her favorite pub and when she went to get up she felt like she was glued to the booth. After a few tries she is still unable to get up. She seeks the help of a stranger in the booth across from her. Henry feels an immediate connection to her like love at first sight when he gets up to help her. Serena didn't see the sign that said wet paint and her pants were fully glued to the booth! Henry assists with blocking her while she slips out of the booth leaving her pants attached! Thank goodness for Henry's coat!

Serena feels the spark as the evening goes on and they go back to Henry's hotel. Things take a turn when she goes back to work and meets her new boss......Henry! The tension can be felt coming off the pages or through your earbuds as everything unfolds.

That's when the universe aligns and Henry and Serena switch bodies. There were quite a few mandatory events to attend and even a health scare while Henry and Serena desperately tried to find a way to return to their own bodies.

The character development with dual POV was really enjoyable. The story moved at a perfect pace and by the end you really see what it means to be in another person's shoes. I strongly recommend giving this a listen or read!

This was such a beautiful book I loved Ghosted and because of the tittle this one caught my interest.
It was a little difficult for me to understand the beginning, but after the first chapter I liked the way the story was going I felt it was a little fast paced and I was mad at the main character for some decisions she makes after meeting him.
I had the honor of reading both the digital book and the audiobook and it was a wonderful experience, I really like the narrator and also because the main character loves physics some information had beautiful artwork that made the book more enjoyable.
It was beautiful seeing the characters of Ghosted again and how their lifes were going. Also I liked that this one was a little more explicit talking about the menstrual cycle, men's and women's body.
The story at the beginning was really good I felt like I was reading a normal romcom and then when the switch happens I remembered that they were supposed to switch bodies, which was surprising.
Loved how the theme of loving someone could change who you are, having examples of both points of view which could explain why each character were like that.
Something that felt that was missing was a little more of the characters lifes in the last chapter but maybe we get to see more of them in the next book.

My favorite niche is a cross between romance and magical realism and Sarah Ready has got this niche down pat! I loved her previous book Ghosted and now absolutely adore her newest book Switched. She has a remarkable of straddling magic and science that makes my heart pitter-patter. And the sweet, emotional love stories that unfold are just the cherry on top!

Serena Otaki is such a lovable, free-spirited science nerd determined to not let love distract her from her true love with science. It’s sweet to witness the way she navigates opening her heart while still remaining committed to all that matters to her. The storyline in this book is so unique and distinct, that I found it to be a breath of fresh air after a string of trope-y romcoms. If you are looking for a sweet, funny romance with a reality-bending twist, Switch should be the next book on your TBR!

The narrator did a phenomenal job and was the perfect voice to fit the personality of Serena!

I’d prefer to give this a 3.5, as overall I really enjoyed it and definitely needed to know what happened next.

As far as the story goes, I was immediately drawn in by an adult woman living her life and in love with her career. I could completely empathize with her thought process and outlook on life and love and fun. I can also empathize with the attraction and tension with a handsome British man that you met in a pub. Did Sarah Ready stalk me to create Serena?!

There were some out seriously laugh out loud moments during this story. However, I did think that Henry’s ex-girlfriend was a bit unnecessary. If you removed her from the story the plot would not have been altered in anyway. I also don’t feel like we got suffiencent background/explanation from Henry to truly believe she would SA him in a coat closet in his family home with his girlfriend down the hall. And I’m absolutely respectful of those who choose to wait to have sex for marriage or “the one” or whatever they choose to wait for. But I don’t believe a virgin is going to give any woman the best sex of her much more experienced life. I think it would have made much more sense if he had said “our first time” rather than it being “his first time”. Based on the ages of his youngest sibling being 21 I’m also having a hard time pinpointing Henry’s age, especially with how worried it’s said his family was that he went to Geneva for a prestigious job. He’s got to be at least late 20’s so it seems weird that his family would be so concerned about such a move considering he’s highly educated adult.

Anyway, back on track, I loved the learning and understanding that our characters experienced as a result of the switch, about each other and themselves. I’m glad that the switch back arose from an emotional connection vs a physical connection and liked the metaphor of Serena having to give up her life for love. I loved Serena getting a heart to heart with her mom about the unintended trauma inflicted from mother to daughter about love being all consuming. It was a lovely and realistic healing journey for our girl and I’m so glad she learned to accept and give love without losing herself.

The narrator was fine but it almost felt like she was reading her diary to me and I’m still not sure if that’s a pro or a con. I know that the same story can feel different through different medias so I’m not sure if I would have liked the book more or less if I’d read a physical or digital copy. I do think I missed out on some of the charts, graphs and diagrams. The voice of Henry was unexpected for a couple random chapters near the end and was a bit jarring. He just didn’t sound like a Henry to me, the accent just didn’t connect and the voice felt a bit too old. I almost wish the male narrator had voiced Serena-Henry rather than the female narrator attempting a male voice.

Sarah Ready has the uncanny ability to make incredibly unlikely things seem like they make the most sense in the world. Adored the prose, characters, setting, relationships, EVERYTHING. And when I tell you I outwardly gasped towards the end of the book at a certain development. I can't wait to re-read this.

Sarah Ready has cemented herself as a MUST read author for me, if they're all of a similar caliber as Ghosted and Switched then I see many more 5 stars in my future.

The audiobook narrator (or should I say narrators!) also put on the performance of a lifetime, especially considering the body and voice switching antics!

Serena is a free spirited, Star Trek loving, messy and extremely chaotic person, who enjoys coffee and tofu. She loves her career, and most of her jokes revolve around splitting atoms, or other scientific jokes. When she goes to a local bar and literally gets stuck, possibly glued to the chair, she meets Henry. Henry is the opposite of her in many ways, he is an organized, clean freak, that loves tea and anything meat. Henry being the chivalrous gentleman, gives her his jacket. They hit it off right away, both understanding each others jokes, because they both are physicists. After their connection, they go to Henry’s hotel where they make planets move with the most amazing night of either of their lives. Unfortunately, the morning comes and Serena receives an email from her new boss, the head of her department, which unfortunately happens to be Henry. Serena immediately puts a stop to their burgeoning relationship, even having the guy that works at the restaurant pretend to be her new interest, although that causes her to gain a cat named Captain Tiberius Puurk out of the bargain.

Almost 2 years go by in a flash, with them both maintaining a working relationship and never addressing the amazing night they have. But when a freak incident occurs and they switch places, among literal sparks, things swiftly become a version of Freaky Friday. Serena awakes to discover she has big muscles stubble and oh my word, man parts. When she rushes to her best friend’s home, and is immediately punched, she is finally able to explain her crazy situation. Serena goes to work where she discovers Henry, in her body wearing a sexy outfit that should not be work wear.

The story continues as they try to figure out a way to get back to their own bodies, in a series of funny incidents that open both their eyes to how the opposite sex truly lives. With time running out, they decide to help each other with previous engagements, discovering more each other and what made them drawn to each other in the first place. Will they figure out a way to change back before it’s too late? And is there something cosmic in their switch? Something that is meant to be?

The author wrote a fun rom com, with an interesting twist on Freaky Friday. I loved the different adventures they shared, now experiencing simple life events from a different perspective. I enjoyed the fun playful characters, although it got heavy with the science jokes in the beginning, and I almost stopped reading, feeling like I didn’t have the same humor. I was glad I kept going because I definitely started enjoying the story more once they switched places.

Switched is the second book in Sarah Ready’s Ghosted series. While this book is number 2, it can be read as a stand alone . There are characters that overlap, but if you haven’t read the first, it doesn’t give too much away.

In Switched, Serena “Ducky” Otaki has one true love: physics. Her life in Geneva, Switzerland is perfect for her. She has a cat, Purrk, her own disorganized messy apartment, and she’s perfectly happy being unattached romantically.

Henry Joule is an uptight British man Serena meets in a pub in Geneva. There’s a bit of a funny accident and the two cross paths…then they accidentally switch bodies.

When I saw this book was available I knew I had to read it. I loved the first book, Ghosted, so much and this one was just as good. I love the paranormal aspect to these romance books. It brings a fresh, new perspective to a trope that could otherwise become formulaic and boring. Also, bonus points for featuring a strong woman in STEM!

I am definitely looking forward to the third installment in the series!

This one started out a bit far fetched for me, but it won me over. I enjoyed the writing style and the voice actor did a great job! I started to really like the characters and found them endearing and lovable after awhile. This kept me engaged with the novel. I am not normally into romance novels, but this one did a good job of being engaging and not too flowery. I ended up happy I read it.

This Romantic Comedy was absolutely adorable. I loved the character development with Serena and Henry. Serena;s smart, bold and messy character is the perfect balance to Henry’s uptight and rather boring life. This book was full of laughs and a bit of worry for our two main character which kept me wanting more especially with the thought of potentially losing one of them. This book is a great read full of love, laughter and just the right amount of science to make it all come out just right. Sarah Ready did it again with another knock it out of the park modern romance.

Switched by Sarah Ready is a sweet little twist of Freaky Friday with a romantic twist and some science mixed in. The characters are likable and a great pairing and I enjoyed their interaction. This was a quick romance story.

This is the third book I've read by Sarah Ready and while it doesn't take the top spot from The Space Between, I very much enjoyed this story. I was a little skeptical going in because Ghosted left me with a lot of questions, but getting a story based around Serena was fantastic. This was a freaky friday version of a love story and I was here for it.

Some parts seemed a little far fetched (switching bodies aside), and a few gave me second hand embarrassment for other characters - lookin at you Lorna, but overall I found myself fully invested and even laughing out loud at various parts.

This book might have sparked my interest once again in contemporary romance.
The heroine, though cast as an intelligent woman has a very relatable life and vocabulary. I salute the author for not filling the book with deep science-y words. At first I cannot understand Serena's deep set aversion to commitment and marriage until I saw how her parents relate and then I totally get her. Still, I liked her already by this time.
For Henry, he was a total package of a hero for me. Almost too perfect actually until I saw his vanity amidst the chaos of their switched body. Though I saw him only through the filter of the heroine, I like him as a hero and a character.
The hilarious part of the story is the best part for me in this book. Let me say first that this is a first read for me for this author so I cannot talk about her other books but for once, the funny part of the story fits the character. Often, the funnies on books are the widely known jokes about genders but not in this book. The hilarious part comes from two smart people speaking their own language.
Have you ever read regency books or historical books that characters language reminds you of high schoolers cafeteria lingo? I did and its jarring.
In this book, the characters fit their words and their quirks and I admit, I repeatedly listened to the book three times because the story and the fun is that good.
Audiobook: There is just one chapter where the hero - Henry's point of view was shown and the narrator's accent is jarring. Throughout the book, the hero's accent is British and then this chapter of his POV comes in a hard american accent. Soooo jarring!
Other than that, the book is a perfect listen for me. I will surely look for other books from this author hoping they are just as good.

This was a cute little book, a lovely twist to a Freaky Friday romcom. Enjoyed the fact the FMC is a woman in STEM, and the footnotes and graphs made me chuckle.

The audiobook was great, I ended up finishing the book through the audio because I enjoyed the narration so much.

Switched by Sarah Ready is the second book in her Ghosted series. Overall it was a 4.5 star read, is an easy read, and well narrated. I enjoy Sarah Ready as an author and will continue to read what she writes.

Serena is is a free spirit that doesn't get too deep. Her one love is science and she does not leave room for much else. One night she meets Henry in a bar and they enjoy a night together. At the end of the night she can see herself falling for him, but finds out he is going to be her boss and she backs off. They are both a little bit of a mess and do not have an easy working relationship. One night Serena has to drop something off to Henry but there is a freak lightning storm and they switch bodies. They are racing against the clock so that neither of them dies, and they have to get to know each other and in the process they build something real.
