Allison is pregnant with her second child when she gets a collect call from her husband Peter in prison.
All of their money is frozen, and she has $22 to pay rent and feed her child. Erica, Peter's first wife is hugely successful, and their daughter Summer loves Allison and her son Jackson. She begs Erica to help and Peter also begs her. Erica and Allison become family thanks to Summer.
Wow! I really loved this book. I always enjoy reading books by Susan Mallery, but this one was different. It was a beautiful story of friendship and family. I received an advance copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.

Wow, this book was so intense. The strong, independent Erica that has worked to build her own dynasty of hair salons and spas is faced with having to help her ex-husband's wife because he gets caught for money laundering and many other charges. Allison is pregnant with her and Peter's second child and just months away from delivering when she is hit with his being arrested. She is left with no money because the federal government has frozen all of their accounts and having to move out of their rental because the landlord is selling the home. Summer, Peter and Erica's daughter, is devastated for her stepmom and begs her mom to let them move in with them. Erica isn't thrilled but agrees for her daughter.
Once they all get moved in, Erica and Allison get to know each other better and become friends. Erica comes to realize that all even with all the pain that Peter put her through with their divorce, she can love again.
This is a great story and so different from Susan Mallery stories before. Definitely a great read! Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC for an honest review.

This story is an unconventional story of friendship, family, and the power of women supporting each other. The characters are woven together in a way that you get to know each on personally. A fantastic story of how you can get through tough times and move on in your life!

For the Love of Summer by Susan Mallery is a wonderful story filled with love, kindness and compassion. I love all the characters and happy endings.

Another amazing read by Susan Mallery. I love the characters and the storyline in this book. Erica, Allison and Summer are brought together in an awful situation due to evil, selfish Peter. Peter is Erica’s ex husband. Summer is Erica and Peter’s 16 year old daughter. Allison is Peter’s current wife. Allison is very pregnant with their second child and presently has an 18 month old son. Peter is missing and is found to be in federal prison. This leads to throwing the three women into unimaginable situations. Strong family bonds and friendships are developed. Heartbreaking and heartwarming read. Recommend. I was given an advanced reader copy by NetGalley and I am freely sharing my review.

This is a story about love, betrayal and family. Erica takes in her ex husband pregnant wife. Against all odds they become friends. This is a book you won’t want to put down, some parts may make you angry, but in the end it is a feel good romance. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

From the picture on the cover I was expecting this to be a light beach read, so I was surprised to find it was not. Partically my fault for not reading the blurb prior to starting the book. It took me a bit to start liking this one, possibly because I was set for a beach read, or perhaps not but for whatever reason it did. I did find myself liking the book before the end though as I got more invested in the female characters, never did particularly like Peter. I enjoyed watching the interaction between Erica and her daughter, Summer and Summer and her stepmom, Allison. Then as the book progressed, the relationship which developed between Erica and Allison, Peter's second wife who is expecting baby #2 any day, and how Erica stepped up even though she really didn't want to in the beginning. Loved the friendship that developed between Erica and Allison by the end of the book. This one is a definite must read for Susan Mallery fans or anyone who just wants a good story of female friendship.

Another great book by Susan Mallery! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and was disappointed when it came to an end.
This is a great example of women supporting women, no matter of age, social standing or family connections. It also shows that family can come in any form. Marriage and blood do not define this.
I loved Erica right from the start although I don't believe I would have been able to do what she did. But maybe I could? I was not too sure about Allison but she definitely grew on me as she became stronger and her character was more defined.
I laughed at the humour that was also included through the story. Both Allison and Erica had funny moments that were enjoyable.
The only thing that kept me from giving a full 5 stars was that it took until halfway through the book before we learned who Levi was and why there was no mention of Allison's family. That was two topics that did not make sense to me to not have mentioned earlier in the story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade for the opportunity to read this ARC. I was so pleased to do so and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this kind of book!

This book should come with a warning. You won't be able to put it down. If i had, had to work today I would have been calling in sick, just so I could finish the book that I started it at bedtime last night.
If you haven't already figured it put. I loved this book. It was fast paced and had unexpect4ed twist and turns. I would love for their to be a sequel.
I highly recommend this book, I am sure you will love it as much as I did.

Mallery does it again with the story of four (I know she usually uses three, but I am countig Erica's mother too.) very strong women, some who already know it and some that are taking a little while to show their power. For the Love of Summer is another quality read by Mallery. I do hope she plans a sequel for this book because the bow was tied up too quickly and these women deserve more runway.

For the Love of Summer is powerful and inspiring! So much love and support...I would love to see this become a series.

Mallery creates engaging characters, and this stand alone is no exception. I like learning about new-to-me things, like Erica’s insights into running salons and the hoops Allison needed to go through to visit Peter. The commonality of women feeling like they didn’t fit in but for such different reasons was well done, as was the varied responses to being hurt by someone they loved. The focus on family was a high point. Once again, the power of and need for strong female friendships was celebrated. Pop this into your beach bag and enjoy. Highly recommended.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

By chapter 2, I was already in love with these women. This book shows the strength of women, strong bonds and second chance love. I found myself laughing and crying. It was the perfect read!

So much happening in this newest book by Susan Mallery and now that I have finished, found myself wishing for more to continue the story. Loved the interaction between characters and the problems, solutions and final chapter of the book. A definite addition to your TBR list, do not miss this one.

For the Love of Summer by Susan Mallery is an amazing story of relationships between unlikely women. Summer is the daughter and stepdaughter of the two main female characters. I loved how the relationship between Erica and Allison evolved all because they both love Summer. Money does solve some of the issues in the book, but love, friendship and mutual respect are the true winners in this book. The Twisted salons owned by Erica sound amazing and somewhere I would love to visit. Summer and Mara are strong secondary female characters as well. I loved them all! Susan Mallery is a must read for me and I would highly recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Publisher for granting me the privilege of reading this ARC for my honest review.

Erica owns Twisted, a group of high-end salons. She’s an astute and successful businesswoman, focusing on providing great experiences for customers, as well as providing a nurturing and empowering environment for her staff.
As a young woman, she bought her first salon from her mother. As she was growing her business, she married Peter and then had a beautiful daughter, Summer. Erica thought her marriage was going well, until it wasn’t. After their divorce, Peter married Allison, and they had a son named Jackson. Summer loved spending time with her father’s family. Not long after Allison became pregnant with her second baby, Peter was arrested. Allison is left with nothing. Summer is devastated and convinced they (Erica) must help Allyson. Erica’s not so sure.
Susan Mallery has done a masterful job in bringing us this loving story, with all its complications, and reminding us that a mother’s love for her daughter sometimes means stepping way out of their comfort zone.

Another winner from Susan Mallery. Erica is a successful owner of a chain of beauty salons, and is divorced from her teenaged daughter's father, Peter, an accountant. He has remarried to Allison and has a toddler and another on the way when he is arrested for wire fraud, among other charges, leaving Allison in the lurch -- no money, no home, nothing. She's blindsided, to say the least. Summer intervenes and convinces Erica to let Allison move into her large house, at least till after the baby is born. Both women have issues with relationships, neither believes the charges at first, but eventually they bond over the scalawag [yeah I know it's an ancient term but it fits!} Allison learns that she is stronger than she believes, and Erica learns that she can love again, and even Summer softens and figures out that she too can love. Families come in all shapes and sizes and this is one very unconventional one that works!!

Thank you to netgalley for this arc of this book.
Susan Mallery outdid herself on this book. Erica is divorced from Peter’s their daughter Summers father. He’s remarried to Allison. Allison gets a call from Peter from jail. They have frozen all of their bank accounts so she can’t even get gas for her car. Summer talks Erica into taking Allison in to help as she has a toddler and is pregnant and due soon and has no money she can access. Erica wasn’t super excited about it but does it for Summer. What started out as just helping her out turns into a great friendship. Such a great inspiring story.

Susan mallery outdoes herself again with this book. Erica owns twister which is some high end beauty salons. She is worried she is losing her daughter to her ex husband Peter and his new wife Allison. Allison receives a call that Peter is in prison and won’t be getting out soon. Their accounts are frozen and pregnant Allison has nowhere to go. Summer talks her mother into letting Allison and her son Jackson. What started out as two women not liking each other turn into a great friendship. A great book

I received a free copy of this from netgalley. It was a great book. Susan Mallery doesn't disappoint. She teaches you that family isn't always about blood relatives. Family comes in all shapes and sizes. At first you feel bad for Allison because she can't seem to catch a break. Then when Erica, an unlikely person, steps up to help her, you start rooting for them to be friends/family.
