This book was okay. It was a good story but it didn't hold my attention too well so it took some time to get through.

I highly enjoyed this novel and it starts you wirh the action straight away, throwing u into an investigation with paranormal investigators and hunters, I enjoyed the fast Paced chase of the book and also I liked the friendships and Relationships that see being made, I felt a little bad f0r the brother of the hunter family because he believes keeping himself at a distance is the right thing to do instead of finding someone to be with ( everyone in the world needs someone no matter who you are) but he believes that all he'll do is put them in danger. You see growth from his character though and I was routing for I really was because he puts on a persona (to protect himself) but it's nice to see when it slips and shows u who he genuinely is. I liked allot of the other characters as well and was excited to see what was going on.

I look forward to reading the second one coming out soon

This was a very solid read. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the character interplay. When I finished the book, I was happy to learn it is the beginning of a series.

This book was fast paced and follows a family as they address mystical creatures and events. The characters were believable and humorous.

Hunterland was available as a Read Now audiobook on NetGalley and I had actually heard about it closer to when it came out last year and had added it to my TBR, but I am such an audiobook addict that having it available as an audiobook helped me actually get to reading it! Hunterland is recommended to anyone who likes Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Vampire Diaries and considering two of those shows are my all-time favorites I knew I needed to read this book. I definitely agree it is very Supernatural-esque and Liam is for all those Dean Winchester stans! I’d call Olivia an Elena, Jack is a total Charlie (both females with traditionally male names and I love it!), and Pepper is a cross between Dawn and Dark Willow.

The storyline was fun, the romance worked, and the characters were interesting. I wouldn’t say this book was a standout, but it was four stars and it was such a quick read. As for the audiobook aspect, I wasn’t a huge fan of Arielle DeLisle’s narration. I felt her variation in voices wasn’t as ranged as I’m used to from other narrators, especially the male voices. I was surprised that Travis Baldree is an audiobook narrator as well! His portion wasn’t bad, but it did feel a little lackluster.

I enjoyed listening to this book, i just had trouble grasping at the intended audience. Parts of the book felt very immature and more of a middle grade reading but there were a lot of sexual innuendos throughout which gave the book a more mature high school age reading space. I feel like this would be a great read for high school students who are reading at a lower reading level. It would be hard for me to recommend as a teacher given the sexual commentary of the main character, but I don't think it goes too far either.

I gave this book 3 stars because it really was too much for one book, and then it just abruptly ended. Hunterland is the Supernatural TV series meets YA fiction. It was hard to get into in the beginning, once it caught my attention in the first part of the middle I was very interested! What I call the second part of the middle had me really wondering if this should have been 2 books or if they were just trying to make sure every supernatural being was checked off as characters in the book: Vampires ✔️, Werewolves ✔️, Telepaths ✔️, Witches ✔️, Ghosts ✔️. The second part of the middle was pretty predictable and if you’ve ever watched the Supernatural TV series it was easy to predict the conclusion to the first mystery! Here where I call the ending, at first I thought the author was just wrapping things up but the book kept going until there was a 2nd mystery solved. Just as I was settling into this being a “stephen king” length book the book just ended! The author did set the book up to be a nice series, but this first book really should be 2 books.
Overall I did enjoy it and I could see middle and high school students enjoying this book as well!

At first I was not a fan of any of the characters but by the end I grew to love most of them, especially Jack. Jack seems to genuinely care about everyone's best interest and is not afraid to let anyone know how she feels but stops short of being controlling. This was my second book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised this one had more depth to it and development of relationships between characters felt more genuine with multiple layers. I really enjoyed this one.

Hunterland is the first book in a new series by the same name. It seems like it is supposed to be a lot like Supernatural, Grim or maybe even the new Nancy Drew. Teenagers hunting supernatural things roll into town with their FBI (not really) father after a few suicides happen in a small town. The thing is they aren't really suicides and something from the paranormal world is doing the killing, they just need to find out what.

Olivia is the daughter of the town sheriff and when we first meet her it is when she is looking at a teacher from her high school who has committed suicide and is hanging in the gym. This is the third suicide of someone at the school and it is starting to seem like there might be something else behind all these deaths. Liam and Jack have been part of Hunterland all of their lives and they are ready to jump into this new mystery. They roll into town with their father looking for who/what is committing these murders. This school isn't the only one, there have been killings that look exactly the same in other small towns in the area.

The plot of this book was a little all over the place. There is the main story happening with Ghosts, which really would have been enough to carry the story. But then it got a little garbled with Vampires and Werewolves and some turmoil happening between them that involves the Hunter family. Along with meeting one of the original Vampires, that didn't have anything to do with the suicide looking murders that were happening at the school. It just felt a bit disjointed. Like the author was trying to do this story and 100 pages of the next, all in one book. There was also a bit of a plot hole in this that wasn't really addressed, unless I missed it, that was distracting for me.

The premise of the book is something that really drew my attention since these are the kinds of stories I completely love. But the book ended up having a few too many YA issues I struggled with. The relationships between just about everyone didn't make a ton of sense to me. It was clear Liam and Olivia were going to be a thing, but I absolutely hated Liam for most of the book. He was too smug, too harsh, too just trying to be the bad boy and over sexualizing everything. The way he talked to Olivia the majority of the story was just off and why any girl would be drawn to him was beyond me. Then there was Olivia's relationship to her sister that seemed more like a keeper than just being part of the family.

This book did have a lot happening the entire time and a good amount of action so I was entertained throughout enough not to get too caught up in the YA teen relationship drama happening. I was enjoying at least the paranormal part of the story quite a bit and was interested in Olivia and Pepper's magical capabilities. I was hoping to explore those a little more in this book but we only get to scratch the surface a bit.

I really wanted to love this story and maybe the next book will weed out a few of the issues we saw in this one. I think the world is really interesting and I'd love to explore the other members of Hunterland along with the set up that was done in this book on the semi war between one of the packs of Werewolves and the Vampires. So there might be some hope in the rest of the series.

Narration:
One of the reasons I picked this up to listen to was Travis Baldree is a narrator for it and I really enjoy him. He did a fantastic job on his PoV and was able to capture all the voices well. His sections I listened to at my normal 1.5x speed and his narration was exactly as good as I expected it to be. Arielle DeLisle is a new to me narrator, even though she has a pretty extensive catalog. I found her performance a bit slow with some strange pauses. I had to up the speed I listened to her PoVs from my usual 1.5x to 1.75x for it not to be distracting. Her diction and change of voices was great, just something with the timing didn't work quite right for me.

I listened to this one via audiobook received from NetGalley and overall it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

It had all the important ingredients of a first book in a new YA fantasy/paranormal series and definitely had an added mystery element that kept me interested and did surprise me with some of the reveals. This book felt like YA Supernatural and it worked for me. I feel like I would have LOVED this one if I read it when I was a little younger but all the same it was a solid read. The next book in the series is set up to allow us to learn more about this world and I look forward to continuing this series.

I do feel like the audio itself, in particular the female narrator made the character sound a little younger then her actual age, however, I still found myself looking for excuses to listen.

When the nurse is murdered at Olivia and Pepper Davis‘s high school it is the first time she notices the strange new kids Jack and Liam Hunter Jack is devastatingly beautiful and Liam is super hot and when they arrive the hunters think they are there to investigate the nurses murder but when pepper gets kidnapped and Olivia loses her best friend the job gets much harder but the fourth over the immediate dislike Olivia head for Liam turns into something way different and Liam just may find out what happened to his mom after all not to mention Olivia and pepper may have abilities that could help the hunter family. first of all let me say I thought this was a really good book I thought it was going to be your typical team thriller and it is in someways but found it has more More substance that gives it a very credible feel I did think the guy narrator sounded a little old to be playing a teenager but he did do great character distinction ask for the other narrator I thought she was really good they both brought a really good tone to the audiobook. I’m so glad I decided to listen to this and I would definitely read another book by this author not to mention listen to audiobooks by the narrators I just all in all really enjoyed this listen. This was such a cool book. I loved the Paranormal aspects of it and how all the elements of it came together.

I also really enjoyed the narrators of the audio book and how they gave live to the characters in the book. It gave an element of depth to each character that highlighted them in a different way then just reading them off paper!

I loved this! I felt like I got dropped right into the story. The voice actors were excellent and I'm going to see what else they do.
I agree that it has Supernatural vibes but it's much more YA. I don't always like YA romance, but this worked well for me.

If the aim was to build a series that reads like a girl power supernatural spin off, then this one knocks it out of the park. As a long time Supernatural fan, I thoroughly appreciate this creation.

In regards to the voice artists, while both did a great job reading and their skills a delight, I do think maybe the voice of Liam wasn’t quite right. It wasn’t “Dean Winchester” enough, and Liam reminded me a lot of Dean (and Sam at times—like smashing them both together).

As for the story, I thought a bit unoriginal considering it’s far too close to the tv show in terms of monsters and siblings, losing friends, a father who teaches them, a mentor who knows all the lore, and a mother who was killed at the hands of a supernatural baddy. BUT should you be a fan of Supernatural and need your hunter fix, this is right up your alley. Although, if you have no idea what Supernatural is and are in the mood for some romantic teenage angst with a smattering of death, monsters, and witty banter…this is also for you. Win-win!!!!
Definitely worth the quick read/listen!!!

A fun read. It kind of reminded me of the buffy era of tv, lighthearted with a touch of vampires!
I found the relationships a bit cringe at times but I think it’s aimed at a younger audience. It eased up as we got into the book and overall didn’t put me off.
Was a night easy listen and the audio narrators were decent.

This gave me YA Supernatural and TVD vibes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It gave me a very nostalgic feeling which was nice and provided great action and was fast-paced. I adored the protective nature of Liam and the wisdom from Jac. I actually really enjoyed all the characters as individuals. However, I did not always get behind the relationship between Liam and Olivia. I felt that he had a better relationship with Pepper, but her being younger, he resorted to fawning over the older sister. Maybe I missed something, but I just didn't get the chemistry between Liam and Olivia and don't feel like they are in any place for a lasting relationship going forward in the series. Overall, I enjoyed it and am interested in seeing where it goes.

I was quite fond of this! I devoured this young adult vampire/monster hunter novel from cover to cover. What more could you want for when you have werewolves, vampires, witches, ghosts, and people with superpowers? This novel will appeal to fans of Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, or The Originals. When the next one is released, I can't wait to read it.

I don't really know what I was expecting, but teenage Supernatural would not have even made the top 10 guesses. Following two families, the story unfolds like a season 2 Supernstural episode. There were times I enjoyed that dynamic, and times I didn't.

I could NOT stand Liam for about 60% of the book, but once he starts to open up he becomes the sad little lost soldier Dean was and I found myself liking him.

Audiobook was great, the male narrator is Travis Baldree and he always does a fantastic job. Though I couldn't imagine his voice on a 19 year old. Unless that's just me being upset Jensen Ackles didn't voice Liam himself.

I found this book to be a compelling YA story of teenage sisters who got caught up in the paranormal world of vampires, werewolves, and ghosts. The main characters, Liv and Pepper, meet siblings Liam and Jack who, with their father, hunt down monsters and kill them. The story is easy to follow. The love dynamic between Liv and Liam is a bit simple. For example, Liam is said to hook up with lots of girls in the past, but for some reason Liv is "different" but doesn't go into more detail. After reading more complex YA books recently, this book felt a bit flat, probably because its target audience is on the younger side of YA. I don't hold that against it, just take it for what it is. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel Hunterlore when it comes out.

I listened to the audiobook and found the narrators to be good. Each chapter was narrated from a certain character's perspective, so the female character chapter were read by the female narrator and the male character chapters were read by the male narrator. Both did a fine job modulating their voice to suit the various characters. I say "fine" job, not great because there were times when the narration was distracting from the story. For instance, the female narrator read sentences by pausing just a little too long at every comma, making it feel clipped. That aside, I liked listening to this book.

This book almost has a Supernatural tell to it. But then the girls have their own abilities for the supernatural world. The vamps want the Hunters to help them with who is killing them. And there is a huge cliff hanger in knowing that the Hunters mother/wife is the lycanthrope leader killing the vamps.

This was a great audio book- I listened to it in 2 days. A young adult book version of the TV show supernatural and I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to continue listening. The narrator, did a great job and sounded age appropriate.
