This is the start of a new series, The Knights of Anarchy, and what a brilliant start! The story pulled me in from the very beginning and kept me engrossed till the end. Ceridwen and Wymar are both fighting for a cause they believe in. Ceridwen disguises herself as a knight and follows her men into battle to fight for the Empress Matilda, the rightful Queen of England. Wymar has been responsible for his two brothers since his parents' death and has had his land and title taken from him by King Stephen. He also fights in the Empress Matilda's favor in hopes that he will get back what is rightfully his. Ceridwen and Wymar both fight together to stop King Stephen who is a threat to them both, and in the process also find love with each other.
This was a well-written and exciting, medieval tale that was filled with romance, drama, adventure, and action. The storyline flowed smoothly and the plots twists had me on the edge of my seat, anxiously turning the pages to see what would happen next. The author did a really nice job of bringing the time period and the history to life. Both MCs were well-developed, Wymar being a loyal and honorable man, and Ceridwen, a strong determined woman willing to do anything for her family.
If you like medieval romances, then this is one you definitely should try!
My thanks to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest review.

Excellent Medieval Romance with Treachery and Intrigue

This book has all the elements in a story to keep you turning the pages. It has romance, of course, but there is also intrigue and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Wymar and Ceridwen must contend with an evil enemy, and their path will not be an easy one. Can their love survive the evil intent on separating them because of greed? I loved this story and would recommend it to those who like medieval romance with suspense and intrigue.

This is the first book in a medieval romance series. Set in a time of anarchy and war.
Our hero is the eldest brother of a family who lost everything at the hands of the usurper Steven. Now they fight to help Empress Matilda claim the throne.
Our heroine is an heiress who has defied her father and the Empress on how she should perform her duties. She is a strong and independent young lady, with a lot of talent.
There are a lot of surprises, intrigue and battles. The story has plenty of twists and turns. A lot of the scenes will not end as you might think. The characters are wonderful and like to have fun when they're not fighting.
I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
Great fun.

Knight of Darkness by Sherry Ewing is a medieval romance taking place during the war between Stephen and Matilda for the throne of England. The Knight of Darkness, Wymar Norwood, stood totally behind the empress. His parents had died in her service and their lands and title confiscated by the ruthless Stephen. He and his brothers were fighting for what is right and the fight is nearly over. It is toward the end that he sees a man clearly disrespecting his lord and being the knight he is, he responds and enters the fray. The next day the battle resumes and this day they claim victory. He nearly lost his life, but it is saved by the young lord and now he owes the man. As he ventures to their camp to find him, he sees nothing of the disrespectful man who had been present but discovers something astonishing about the young lord: he is a woman. His life was saved by a woman. That insulted his manhood, but when the empress asked him to escort her back to her castle and be sure that it remained solidly in the hands of her (the empress) followers.

What a good book. The only negative I have is that the proofreading is slacking. I realize it is an advance copy but such bad word usage indicates no one has given it a second read. That being said, it is a book full of both violence and love. Lady Ceridwen Ward is an exceptional woman and a well-written character. She is willing to give up everything for the people she loves and is broken when she returns home to see what has happened there. After many weeks, Wymar has secured the castle for Ceridwen and is commanded to return to his home, to see it its rebuilding. She refuses to come with him as she is still in mourning for all that has happened. Being the loyal subject that he is, he returns home. What a good read! Pacing is good, story is excellent, and the characters are endearing. It is also heart-breaking to see the results of this war, all wars, really. Worth the read. Thanks Ms Ewing for a terrific book!

I was invited to read Knight of Darkness by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #SherryEwing #KnightOfDarkness

This is a fantastic story! It's full of actual history of that time, detailing the struggle between two opposing royals claiming the title. There are twists, turns, deception and of course romance. Wymar and his brothers are fighting for the Queen. Ceridwen disqueses as a knight also in order to fight for the Queen. The paths of these two continue to cross until Ceridwen can no longer keep her identity a secret. A very fast moving story even with 38 chapters. The first of the series so I can't wait to read the next book.

I found this novel fast-paced, romantic, and suspenseful as I was pulled into the plot from the opening chapters. I know something about the history of the era, but this book prompted me to do some further research to understand the background a little better. Caught up in the battle between royals, both Wymar and Ceridwen are fighting for a cause they believe in. Wymar's is to regain the lands stolen from his family, and Ceridwen's to fight for her queen. They keep crossing paths until Ceridwen is forced into revealing herself to Wymar and despite his shock, she gains a great amount of pleasure when she sees the expression on his face when he sees the woman in front of him. Even as Wymar wants to protect her, she is determined to prove she can outsmart any force, until she finds herself in the hands of her enemy. It is almost too late, and as far as Ceridwen is concerned, she cannot believe anyone could possibly want her after what she has been through. However, love finds a way, and acting upon Empress Matilda's orders, she finally finds her way home and into Wymar's heart. The novel comes to a lovely conclusion as the couple experience peace, at least in their little piece of England. I received a copy of this well-written and action-filled book as a gift through Dragonblad Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Knight of Darkness
Sherry Ewing

Wymar Norwood has been taking care of his brothers since his patents passed away. Under Stephen's rule, he has had everything stripped from him, so he decides he will fight on Empress Matilda's side. He believes that she and she alone is the rightful Queen of England. He fights to win her favor, and if he can only become her champion knight, he hopes all his lands will be returned to him.

Lady Ceridwen Ward from Norwich is out to prove that she herself is more than capable of protecting those she loves. She pretends to be a knight and follows her men in a bid to raise her sword for the Empress's cause. But things change, and once she reveals her true identity, there are a lot of changes.

Sherry Ewing is fabulous. This author really does look back into history and finds her facts. I expected to enjoy the book, but I didn't expect to drool over it. That is how good it is. The storyline is perfect, and the main characters don't get better than this. All in all, I don't want to give anything else away, so I suggest that if you enjoy medieval books like I do, then you need to read this book. Ms. Ewing your talent for writing never ceases to amaze me.

The knight and his warrior woman

I enjoyed everything about this book! A hero who is honorable, loyal, and a good person. He’s raised his brothers and seeks to regain his land and title by fighting for the rightful heir to the throne in twelfth-century England. A heroine who is strong, determined, sassy, loves her family and land, and can fight right alongside the men in battle to gain the throne for their queen. Friends and family who are supportive and loving and great banter between all of them. A time of unrest and upheaval, and of course, a villain who is just rotten to the bone.

Sherry Ewing has created a wonderful introduction to The Knights of Anarchy series. I was captivated by Wymar and Ceridwen, how they got to know each other, the spark between them and when these two got together, no one could stop them. The suspense and twists I didn’t see coming. While their love for each other could be seen as a weakness, it became their greatest strength.  I loved his brothers and their friends. I’m looking forward to their stories as well. I loved the historical aspect of the story and learning more about the period in history. I’m excited for the second book in the series. I received an arc of this book from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, and this is my honest review.

Knight of Darkness. My fellow readers. I have to say thank you to the writer for providing a book that I really enjoyed. You know how sometimes you feel that you have hit that reading slump and every book that you touch doesn’t catch your fancy? Well Wymar, his brothers, Richard and that other dude Arthur touched my fancy and some of my other unmentionables.
I loved it and I loved the book. Between the action and the romance I had a fun time reading the book. My favorite parts are when Wymar and Ceridwen faced off against one another. Basically was the two had the hots for each other and they’re trying to figure out whose the Alpha. And boy did they had a real good time trying to figure that one out.
I was truly happy when the writer provided some meat to enjoy while reading the book. What I mean by this is Lord Spencer. Him and that so called King Stephen contributed their nasty and dirty intentions to the entertainment of the story. They were the biggest headaches for Empress Matilda. Forced together by the command of the Empress, Wymar and Ceridwen couldn’t imagine the biggest war that they would come to face in the book.
The description and details in some scenes in the book from the writers imagination was amazing. I thought that they were wonderfully written. My favorite part is when the brothers stood with their shoulders clasp and Theobold remarked that, we’ve never gone anywhere without each other. That’s what family is to me. Being their for one another through thick and thin.
You ride it out together. You are apart of one of the many links in that chain that holds strong arm in arm. As always with the author, the writing is exceptionally brilliant and I look forward to reading more from this series. I give this book two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on! I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fun, entertaining, good read. Wymar and Ceridwen are interesting, intriguing, relatable, entertaining, captivating, complex characters. I enjoyed them as individuals and a couple. They are so evenly matched in so many ways. Wymar is my new book boyfriend and Ceridwen my new BFF whom I admire and want to be when I grow up. This story is full of medieval action and intrigue. I was captivated by the story and the various plots from the start until the very end. This is a good start to a new series – I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. The story is easy to read and get into.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this quick historical (medieval) romance story! Not only were the characters and the world so intriguing, but this was a great learning experience to learn about the Anarchy period in the 1100s!

Wymar Norwood is a famed mercenary fighting for his empress; Ceridwen Ward is a talented swordswoman (and lady!) disguised as a young lord to help fight for her empress. The two cross paths on the battlefield, her true identity is revealed, and what follows after is a fast-paced and exciting journey! I enjoyed the fast-paced nature of this book, the passionate and tough characters, and the historical aspects so much. I will definitely be interested in checking out the rest of this series as they come out!

Thank you so much to Sherry Ewing and NetGalley for the chance to read this in exchange for an honest review. Knight of Darkness comes out on February 9th!

A Magnificent Medieval historical romance!

Knight of Darkness, written by Sherry Ewing, is an action packed and romantic story! I loved the characters Wymar, a knight and Lady Ceridwen, their story stole my breath away! It's a real page turner to devour! Another amazing Medieval fiction to recommend!

Wymar Norwood understands his responsibility, taking care of his two brothers Theobal and Reynard, so a romantic relationship is not part of his plan. He has lost his title and lands stripped from him because of a traitor named Stephen who plans to be the right king. Ceridwen Ward is a proper Lady but hides under a knight disguise to impress the Empress Matilda, the rightful Queen of England. Wymar and Ceridwen face a dilemma! Both have the same goal of finding the traitor. They embark on a journey of twists, turns, and danger. What will happen to them? Will they find the real traitor? Will they get the chance of having a happy ending?

After reading many Medieval romances, Ms. Ewing's book, took me by surprise, I could not put it down, she got me hooked to their romantic and perilous journey! Knight of Darkness is the love story, of two beautiful souls, along a journey filled with twists and turns, loyalty, betrayal, honor, and passion.

Wymar and Ceridwen....two unusual names and two unforgettable characters. While reading their story, one can tell the author, Sherry Ewing, has done her research. Taking place during the Anarchy, a civil war in England and Normandy between 1138 and 1153, our main characters take up the fight while siding with Empress Matilda and try to put her on the throne. In order to prove her worth with a sword, Ceridwen pretends to be a male and takes part in the battles!! I just loved Wymar's reaction when he learns she's actually a woman:)

Between the battles, the danger, a traitor who wants Ceridwen so that he can subdue her, and the explosive passions, this is a story that will hold your interest from start to finish. I also loved the humour peppered throughout and you can't help but smile at the antics of the 3 brothers:)

This is a new series by Sherry Ewing and after reading this first book, I definitely know that I can't wait to read the other books!!! Fascinating history mixed in with the author's imagination...priceless!

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
