Pip Drysdale has written her way onto my favourite authors list!!
I simply love her sassy protagonists!
Harper is heart-broken and promises herself that she will never love again. She has unique ways to end relationships when they seem to be getting too serious.
I kinda want Harper to be my best friend!
Harper does meet someone who she could fall in love with but is he trustworthy? Is he connected to the murder or other missing girls?
You will have to read to find out and I highly recommend that you do. Out on May 28th!
Pip Drysdale's books get better and better with each release. I have been so lucky to have been selected by Simon and Schuster CA to receive an ARC and I am thrilled to read another great thriller.
Harper is anti-love. She had her heart broken so horribly that she has vowed to never love again. So that means as soon as someone gets too close, she has an arsenal of ways to lose a guy in 3 minutes. She's jaded and a bit dark but spunky and lives life on her own terms? (Scotch in your coffee anyone?)
I love how twisted the storyline was. We don't know who to trust or where to turn to as we are trying to untangle the strangely small town vibes that Paris can create. Art and journalism crash together as Harper works at her dream job, churning out relatable stories for her demanding boss.
Such a great book, I highly recommend if you like to read about incredibly real characters. Harper is the friend I would curl up with a bottle of wine and listen to her wild stories and live vicariously through but secretly be happy that my life is so boring compared to hers.
The Paris Affair will be available at booksellers and your local library on May 28 2024.

Pip Drysdale has turned into an auto-read author for me. I didn't read the synopsis, I just drove right in. (As an aside, let me tell you it is wild when you've got no idea about anything related to the book other than the title.)
The Paris Affair was gripping and I couldn't put it down. The first part is more big city romance (very enjoyable) but then partway through it morphs into a taut thriller (also very enjoyable).
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Simon & Schuster Canada through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Simon & Schuster Canada.
Harper moves to paris following the break up of her long term boyfriend. While working as a journalist she meets Noah X an up and coming artist. Harper gets tangled in his web of lies.
The synopsis sounded like this book would have a strong female lead. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. Harper is whiney and takes no responsibility for her actions.

Harper Brown is a budding journalist who has taken an entry level job at an online magazine called The Paris Observer in Paris. Her focus is on arts and culture and she finds herself writing an article on the artist Noah X. She ends up at a party with the artist and the night ends in complete disaster when a woman films the two of them in a very compromising position. Especially since Noah is married โฆ
A few days later the woman behind the camera, Sabine, is reported missing and then found dead. The last time Sabine was seen by anyone was at THAT party โฆ and Harper is determined to find out what happened. The circumstances of Sabineโs death line up with the death of another woman in Paris that is still under investigation. Harper is willing to lie, cheat, steal and put herself into the line of fire if it means getting her the story of her dreams that could jumpstart her career on the crime desk!

๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ช๐ด ๐๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ณ follows Harper Brown, an arts journalist in Paris, whose life takes an unexpected turn. She finds herself on the trail of a murderer, offering her the scoop of a lifetime - if she can stay alive.
I love Harper, as I love all of Pip Drysdaleโs memorable protagonists. Harper has a talent for lock-picking and a history of heartbreak. Sheโs intelligent, street-smart and a little edgy. Throughout the novel and the challenges she faces, she repeatedly reveals levels of resolve and tenacity that can only be admired.
Drysdale is a modern and engaging novelist; her writing is alive and fresh. Her first-person narrative is vivid and fast-paced, with a flair for the dramatic. ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ช๐ด ๐๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ณ is hugely entertaining, easy to follow, and hard to put down.
The book made a strong impression on me with its contemporary Parisian setting, intriguing glimpses into the art world and conjecture of a serial killer on the loose. Suspense, mystery, romance, and betrayal, lure readers into a darker, grittier side of Paris not often seen in postcards.
Give yourself a day to read ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ช๐ด ๐๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ณ. You wonโt want to put it down.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The book started off slowly for me, as it seemed to be more of a romance than a thriller, but then picked up its pace after the first half. Pip Drysdale is a talented author and ultimate didn't disappoint me with this book.
โThe Paris affairโ is a sensational dark twisty thriller.
The plot follows our FMC Harper. She has sworn off love and relationships after her long term boyfriend used her to achieve his dreams and then hung her out to dry as soon as he achieved stardom.
Moving to Paris in an attempt to get her life back on track she lands a job as an art journalist and as a result meets the famous elusive artist Noah X.
Things go from bad to worse when she becomes trapped in a tail spin of plots, lies and deception. Harper attempts to navigate this dangerous world, trailing after a murderer for the first hand story of a lifetime that could sky rocket her journalism career. The only problem is the killer may be on to her and she could be next.
I enjoyed Harperโs character. Her suave ways of getting herself out of bad situations; whether that be by dumping a guy and making him think it was his idea, or talking her way out of breaking and entering closed art galleries. I found her antics entertaining and rooted for her success.
I also enjoyed the setting of Paris for a change of scenery from the typical thrillers I read. The world of journalism and the art scene gave it an extra touch also.
Thank you to Pip Drysdale, Simon & Schuster Canada and NetGalley for the EARC

Harper is a journalist looking for a new angle to a story she is working on but instead stumbles into a situation involving murder.
Pip Drysdale is a must read for me. Very fast paced, many moving parts, the action didn't stop. I kept trying to figure out what was going to happen, what twists were in store, but I was looking in the wrong direction. The Paris Affair is just as good as The New Girl, which means this author is not a one hit wonder.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Thank you to Netgalley, Simon and Schuster, and author Pip Drysdale, fir the advanced ebook of this novel.
After her long term boyfriend breaks her heart , Harper moves to Paris to follow her dreams. Sheโs taken a job as an arts journalist, hoping to eventually become an investigative reporter. One night, on assignment, she meets the artist Noah X. Her life as she knows it then becomes turned inside out.
What ensues is a web of lies, and murders of young women. What lengths will Harper go to to get the scoop she needs to forward her career? How does she deal with her complicated relationship with not one, but two men, one whom she doesn't trust, and one she may trust too much?
Once I started reading, I couldnโt put this book down. I stayed up late to finish it. Pip Drysdale's books just keep getting better! 4 out of 5 โญ๏ธ
