Wow! This was a ride.

Special Agent Dak is investigating a series of murders and slowly begins to realize the killer has no set modus operandi. The murders all seem to be random, too random. She soon figures out the plan and has to determine who the killer is and how to stop him/her before the next victim.

The killer definitely has a plan, and we are able to be taken along as the plans are made and as he/she decides who will be next. I enjoyed the storyline and the ability to know both Dak and the killer's thoughts and reasonings.

While it is a murder/mystery/crime/thriller novel, there is a lot of sex. This could be labeled as LGBTQ or mention of violent sexual content. The scenes are, for the most part, relevant to the crimes and/or the relationship between Dak and her fiancé.

I was given the opportunity to read this book by NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great sequel in the Dak Farrell series. The characters felt like they were supposed to and enjoyed the overall feel of this book. The concept was everything that I wanted and thought the thriller elements were perfectly done. It left me wanting to read more in this series and glad I read.

Thanks to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC in exchange for my review.

While trying to plan her wedding, Dak has a case drop into her lap that will test her and CJ's relationship.

So when grabbing this book I didn't realize it was the second in a series. That being said it wasn't hard to follow and fall in love with the characters and Nyx's writing. The suspense and romance are pretty well balanced, something that can be hit or miss when it comes to these kinds of stories. A great read with really interesting characters. I'll definitely be grabbing the first book and whatever else Nyx publishes in the future.

I did not read the first book so I was little lost on the romance history however, its a murder or crime story and I was not interested that much in their relationship tbh so that did not have a major effect on the reading

what got me interested was the crime itself, adding the thought process of the killer made it interesting as well. I did skip some of his chapters since I was super board with him " he thinks too much lol" I mean the detail is super mad sometimes.

highly recommended

Dak Farrell, an FBI agent, has finally decided to propose to the love of her life, Callie (CJ) Johnson. Now there is a wedding to plan, but that might be put on hold when Dak receives a new possible serial killer case. Dak has been working cold cases after being shot and stabbed in a previous case, but is eager to start working live cases again. As we read, we are introduced to the serial killer who has a scientific basis for the killing and keeps a journal. The killer didn’t count on Dak who is able to determine the pattern, but will she be able to stop the killer before too many more lives are lost? Not having read the first book, I think the author was able to provide enough back story so that I was able to enjoy the interaction and love between Dak and CJ and this intriguing mystery. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

While Dead Ringer is second in a series it works fine as a standalone read. I did read Dead Pretty first, which I thoroughly enjoyed, because I wanted the entire backstory on CJ and Dak and their love story before starting Dead Ringer so while it's not necessary to read I would highly recommend.

Dead Ringer is an amazing follow-up in this thrilling series. Dak and CJ are newly engaged and now living in LA together. Dak is returning to active duty FBI work instead of cold cases while CJ is set to start filming her revived show for Netflix although she's having reservations in the direction the show is now taking. They're in the midst of planning their wedding and adjusting to their new normal when Dak stumbles upon a chilling serial killer case. This book had me hooked from beginning to end. Robyn Nyx balances the suspense aspect of the case so well with the romance aspect while also developing well-rounded supporting characters. The reader is even given insight into the killer through journal entries dispersed throughout the book which I thought was a unique approach. Book three can't come soon enough!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Unlike a typical serial killer, Dead Ringer keeps a journal in which he explains why he views his actions as a scientific endeavour.
The process of assembling the team was enjoyable, and I felt like I was a part of it. The writing that addressed social issues in a subtle way without drawing attention to itself was also brilliant.
I suggest starting with Dead Pretty.
I'm not sure how I feel about this story. Either this is a search for a serial killer combined with soft porn , or soft porn and murders. The black lacy strap on seems like a potential solution.

The sequel to Dead Pretty was a compelling follow-up while also being standalone as you can piece together previous events. I appreciated the read, although labeling the chapters with the POV for the characters would have enhanced the reading experience. Once I identified which of the three main characters was narrating, the story flowed more smoothly. Despite various plotlines, they eventually converged, making the book engaging. I look forward to the author's note on the upcoming third release and continuing Daks and CJ's journey.

I inhaled this book in one sitting whilst (quite frankly) I was meant to be working!
Although this book is the second in a series, it works well as a standalone and does not rely on the previous book to aid with the story of this book.

The twists and turns this book took was like driving down a country lane at night with no headlights, I literally had no idea what was coming around the next bend! I was holding my breath at times, audibly gasping to the point where I woke up my baby once or twice.

Robyn Nyx did a fantastic job telling this story, and you would never see the ending coming. I also LOVED the addition of the Journal pages, it really put you in the mind of the character writing them, as well as the character reading them.

Would recommend this book to anyone who loved fast-paced, well thought out and beautiful executed Thrillers!

A sequel to Dead Pretty. A good read. Enjoyed the interaction between Dak and her new colleagues as well as some we've met before. I can't decide if I liked the journal entries by the killer interspersing the story or if I would have preferred it at the end while Dak was reading it. The story kept my attention and my interest to the end.

FBI agent Dak Farrell has proposed to her beloved CJ, but as they plan their wedding a new case has dropped into her lap.

A killer is on the loose, and each of his kills imitates another serial killer.

As Dak works the case CJ has her own work issues, and how busy they each are creates strains.

This is the second book in a series, but works as a stand alone. Dak and CJ are fleshed out well, along with their circle of friends. The segments from the killer's pov are chilling but interesting to read.
