After being dumped at the Alter by a professional hockey goalie, Astrid O’Malley has shunned all things hockey. So imagine her shock, when she learns that her one night stand, who she can’t stop thinking about is a goalie coach, and currently helping her ex get his form back.
Injury forced Cal to retire from hockey, and he will do anything to be a part of the sport. And getting involved with the coach’s daughter is a definite no-no. But staying away from her doesn’t seem like an option either.
The start of the book had me hooked and I just devoured it. The story though predictable was enjoyable nonetheless. The chemistry was pretty much instant between Astrid and Cal and their banter was hilarious. Cal was a great hero, thoughtful and hot. His small gestures towards Astrid had me swooning. Every time they would meet, they plan it to be the last time and ofcourse it never is, but they were scorching hot encounters every time. Catching up with characters of previous books is always a pleasure. I hope there is more to come in the series.

Astrid is over hockey and hockey players. She had her heart broken too badly by one, so she just has hookups now. When Cal walks into the bar in her building, he seems like the perfect fit for her rules for hookups. They have a fantastic night, and she is tempted to see him again. Then she realizes that they also work together. There is absolutely no way that they can continue a fling for several very good reasons. But they cannot keep their hands off of each other. Astrid is going to have to decide what she truly wants out of life before everything blows up again.
Astrid is a fun character, and Cal is a perfect match for her. They are both fiercely loyal and competitive. They are so funny together, and they kept me turning pages way too late. The audiobook is a great match for this story. The narrators captured the humor and flirtation perfectly while investing real emotion into the performances. This one is definitely worth multiple listens.

I had to finish this book in one day. Once I started I couldn't put it down.
Avery Flynn's books are hilarious but also emotional. I love Astrid and her journey throughout the book. The banter is so perfect between the characters.
The level of spicy is perfect and this book is great for book clubs.

Astrid's life had always revolved around hockey. Her dad coached and she always had such a love for the game. Until her fiance, a hockey goalie, dumps her at the alter by FaceTime. Humiliated and broken, she walks away from hockey and doesn't look back.
Astrid becomes a one night stand girl. One night. A little fun. And walk away. No feelings. No attachments. She travels around the world and tries not to think of hockey.
Until her dad begs her to return and work with him one last season. He lets her know he's retiring and this is his final season. She cannot say no.
Upon returning to town, she has a steamy one night stand with a stranger.
Astrid shows up to work with her dad to find not one, but two surprises - her former fiance is the new goalie, and her most recent one night stand is a new goalie coach.
Astrid's road to romance was bumpy, but this was a fun listen! The audio was fun and added to the story.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a delightful and funny story. Cal is a former hockey player who is now coaching. Astrid is the daughter of a hockey coach who grew up around the game. Readers will love the sexy and steamy scenes as Cal and Astrid have a hard time trying to keep their hands off each other. The dialogue is interesting and funny as they try to talk themselves out of getting together. There are some wonderful characters in the story that readers will be delighted to get to know. Overall it is a great book that readers will want to buy and read.

Wait. What was that epilogue?? I don’t want to spoil anything so all I’ll say is - I need Book 3. Now.
This was another fun read, following the events (not really) of Anger Bang. Honestly, you can read it as a standalone but Anger Bang is hilarious so highly recommend you read it (read it before or after Walk of Shame, I don’t think it matters. I might even go reread it now, it’s that fun).
I guess you can call Walk of Shame a hockey romance (or maybe Book 3 will be one, I’m so excited for that one if it’s going to be about The Epilogue Couple, which I didn’t see coming). Honestly, all I can now think of is that epilogue. This is a nice, fun, enjoyable read, you think you know where it’s going…. And then WTF, epilogue smacks you in the face.

This book is a great mix of sexy and thoughtful. Cal and Astrid are HOT together. They are both go getters who, after experiencing some life changing events, don't have a problem voicing what they want. Even when there is some apprehension. Or so they think...
But besides all those fully desire charged moments, there are so many gestures that it will have you swooning. Small or big, it just makes Cal the full package. I enjoyed this read. It gives you a feeling of self-worth, and if you identify with Astrid, it will make you feel special.

After being dumped at the altar by her ice hockey player fiancé and facing public humiliation Astrid set off on a voyage of self discovery. Two years, numerous countries and fleeting encounters and she was back with a new outlook on life. No more hockey or relationships, just a no name no shame quickie then back home alone. Her priority is building her business and a buying a Maine coon. Life is reasonably good until she finds out not only does her latest one-night stand Cal Matsen live in her apartment building but he’s a hockey coach specifically employed by her dad to coach a new transfer to his team. The cherry on top? Well, the new transfer is her ex, and her dad wants Astrid to help get him over the yips.
I loved Astrid and Cal together. Their great dynamic, the badinage and sparring and flirting between those two was engaging and well written. They shared a love of bingo and their competitive natures meant both wanted the last word, but Cal took it to a new level involving diet coke. Their chemistry sizzled and they couldn’t keep their hands off each other even though Astrid swore each time would be the last, you knew she was lying to herself. I loved that this book wasn’t overly heavy on the hockey terminology which tends to go right over my head in other sports romances but what I loved most about this book were all the little details like Cal’s interactions with his sisters and his tea party with Freya. And the anecdote about Britt dating a circus clown. They added depth to the story

Walk of Shame by A. Flynn, published by Entangled Publishing LLC, is the second book in the Downside of Dating Series. Every book is about another couple and can easily be read as a stand alone. And yes, there are a few cross overs. I loved meeting characters from the previous book.
Astrid grew up in the hockey world. Her dad a former pro player now coach let her breathe and live hockey. Her best friend and now fiance is a hockey star. But in the blink of an eye everytzing changes and she turns her back on the sport. Fast forward, 5 years later she's working as a bartender, still hating all things hockey - esp goalies.
Cal is an ex hockeystar who after a freak accident somehow is unsettled. He agreed to coach for a certain time, but what he's gonna do after that he has no clue.
Both meet and are instantly attracted to each other. And girl these scenes are hot hot hot.
When Astrid learns that he's her dad's new co-coach she has to decide, hold her grudge or let go and move on with the ridiculous hot man in the apartement abover hers.
An highly entertaining read, 5 stars.

Walk Of Shame By Avery Flynn always walks the line of laugh out loud kind of funny and heartaching feels I never know what I am going to get in the next page. And that kept me completely absorbed into this story. Avery Flynn has a whip-smart writing style and she keeps on delivering these amazing rom coms full of feels. Astrid and Cal made me laugh like crazy. They also made me chew my nails in suspense because I couldn't guess will they or won't they. They made me rub my chest when the heartbreak hit. The secondary characters list is pretty legendary here as so many of my old favorites make an appearance here.
Astrid has sworn off hockey after being left at alter by Tig Jones..who is now the goalie of The Ice Knights and who plays under her dad. But her dad is retiring from coaching next year and he pleads her to return as his Assistant. Things get complicated when she comes face to face with the new goalie coach of Ice Knights. Cal is the man she slept with just few nights ago, is her building mate, is off limits and is also not ready to play by the rules. Though he knows it is his last chance to stay connected with hockey in some way after the life threatening injury ended his career.
Cal and Astrid both were burnt for different reasons. Astrid was a hockey girl as she grew up in the sports with her father and she used to assist him and then all the scandal and heartbreak forced her to stay away from it. In Cal's case, it was the injury. They were both not ready to commit, to fall in love, to risk their hearts. But as soon as they had that one sinful night, things started to change. There were lot of resistance. More from Astrid. Because it was a freaking tricky situation. Working closely with her ex who actually used to be her best friend and who is trying to say he is sorry..working closely with her ex AND Cal and her father and trying not to give into the temptations and making things more messy. I have to say Cal was pretty persistent. I am a sucker for damaged but perfect heroes and Cal is exactly that. I won't say he has emotional baggage. He has a pretty awesome supportive family but he misses hockey. He is instantly obsessed with Astrid. Everything about her amazes him. Her beauty, her smartness, her talent, her stubbornness, her big heart...everything. She still has scars from that jilted bride scandal and she is cautious. But Cal is just so charming and sexy and with the right amount of c0cky alpha sides specially under the sheets. She realises that she has been avoiding love and she never faced her insecurities all these years. She is so afraid to get hurt that she keeps everyone at distance but Cal calmed her fears. It was still complicated. And the slow burn was killing me in every page. And I loved that tension! The chemistry was nuclear hot. The intimate scenes were so deliciously dirty and super hot! Cal finally realised that hockey isn't more important than Astrid and Astrid opened her heart for this beautifully complex man. Argh their banter, their text messages, the push and pull...this story was just making my heart so happy.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily from Netgalley and Entangled Publishing

3.5 Stars Walk of Shame is a fun follow up to Avery Flynn’s novel Anger Bang. They are part of an interrelated series but can be read as standalones.
5 years ago Astrid O’Malley was left at the altar by her professional hockey player fiancé, who also happened to be coached by her father. Now, Astrid just met her father’s new goalie coach who will work with her ex-fiancé. Oh, and that new coach happens to be her one night stand that she can’t seem to quit, Cal. Cal almost lost hockey once in a freak accident that ended his professional career, but this job coaching Astrid’s ex is a chance he can’t afford to lose. He knows it’s wrong to keep seeing his boss’s daughter, but neither can resist the pull they feel or how this seems like more than a hookup.
This was a quick and breezy read, with some fun banter and sizzling chemistry between Astrid and Cal. Definitely recommend if you like hockey romance and forbidden romance.

Jilted woman.
One night stand.
Forbidden relationship.
Ex-Boyfriend drama.
Hockey romance.
Coach's daughter.
Spice.

Heat.
Laughs.
Friendship.
HEA.
I mean really, what more do you need? This book had so much heart and I loved it so much! This is a continuation of the universe that we were introduced to in Anger Bang (also a fabulous book). It's a stand alone, but reading Anger Bang first will def give you more backstory that is kinda important to get the whole story.
But seriously. This is gonna be a hit. It's great!

First let me start with, the cover for this book is awesome! After reading book 1 in the Downside of Dating series, I was beyond excited to read book 2. It did not disappoint. The beginning of this story takes place on possibly the worst day of Astrid O'Malley's life. Then we jump ahead 5 years. Astrid is a personal assistant and bartender. She is strong, competitive, independent, compassionate, and driven. In walks Cal Matsen, knight in shining armor and an ex-hockey player turned coach. He's a good listener, chivalrous, determined, caring, and also very competitive. After what should have been a one-time thing, these two can't stop bumping into each other. Astrid's dad asks for a favor and that's when everything goes insane. So much baggage, so many secrets. Someone is bound to find out, right? Secrets don't stay secret for long. This book was so much fun and steamy. The back and forth between these two had me laughing, gasping and on the edge of my seat. I was invested and needed to know the outcome, I couldn't stop reading, didn't want to put it down. I hope there's more books in this series!

After the delicious fun that was Anger Banger, i was so excited to read Walk of Shame! And Avery did NOT disappoint.
Astrid is adorably independent. And i say this while deeply relating to her in so many ways!
She was broken and hurt and found her way through it, while the world gossiped away…
She has walls around her heart that Fort Knox would be jealous of!
Her fiancé, a famous hockey goalie, dumped her for Hockey the day of their wedding and made her hate the world she grew up in and stay far, far away from anything puck related.
Cal is an unwilling retiree from the hockey world. Looking for a way back in, even if it’s in the side lines.
Grumpy, serious Cal, who knows not what a smile is…
Their worlds crash together one fateful night and one one night stand turns into another… Last time! Sure… 👀
Astrid and Cal navigate the world of hockey, family, found family, friendship, lust and feelings they cannot keep buried in this absolutely hilarious tale of wanting more but not too much.
By the end of this laugh out loud inducing steamy story, i just wish we got more of Mrs Duffy (I snorted my way through tea time) and hope we will see more Catnip and the Matsen sisters soon!

I totally fell head over heels for Anger Bang by Avery Flynn, so when Entangled Publishing slid me the chance to snag an early peek at Walk of Shame, I practically did a happy dance. And let me tell you, it was everything I hoped for and more – an absolute riot of hilarity and sizzling spice!
Picture this: Avery gets jilted at the altar by her goalie fiancé just five minutes before the big "I do." What does she do? Swears off men, hockey, and jets off around the globe to discover herself. Fast forward five years, and she's caught up in a whirlwind one-night stand. The kicker? Mr. One-Night Stand turns out to be not just any guy but the goalie coach, who conveniently lands a job on her dad's coaching team, coaching her ex-fiancé. Talk about a wild ride from complicated to downright messy, and I was all in for the chaos!
Enter Cal and Avery – their chemistry is like fireworks, and their banter is off-the-charts charming. Cal? He might just be my new book boyfriend crush. Both characters have been through the wringer, but here they are, on the other side, and I am totally here for it!
If you're into a rollercoaster of spice, banter that'll make you giggle, and a love story that blossoms in the midst of all the craziness, then Walk of Shame is an absolute must-read! Get ready for a bubbly, laugh-out-loud romance adventure!
