Astrid and Cal are HoTt. 🔥🔥🔥

Honestly, this book ticked off all the boxes for me. Used-to-be people pleaser that still low-key people pleases but is her own woman, a manly-man that is also a kind and thoughtful cinnamon roll, funny supporting characters, and banter that makes you giggle....you get it all and more.

I loved revisiting characters from Avery's other stories too!

Astrid has sworn off hockey players as romantic interest ever since she was left at the altar five years earlier by a goalie who happened to play for her father, who is the coach of a hockey team. She’s moved on, and she decides to have a one night stand, but it does not go as planned. It ends up being the new goalie coach for her father‘s team who happens to live in her same building. I loved the banter of the book and also how the situation made the characters interact with each other, which just made them realize how much chemistry they actually had. it’s a fun flirty and sexy book.

Great Hockey Rom-Com!

Such a cute book centered around a goalie coach and a head coach's daughter. I laughed, smiled, got all hot and bothered.

There was great character development and romance development. I felt connected to the main characters and was fully invested in their relationship.

I am definitely going to look into more books by Avery Flynn!

Much like the funny covers for this and Anger Bang (the first in this series but both can be read as standalones) Walk of Shame is a very funny book. I always know I can count on laughing and some fairly lighthearted fun when I pick up an Avery Flynn book.

Walk of Shame follows Astrid, a commitment phobe who only does one night stands after her ex left her at the altar, and Cal, a former hockey player turned coach after an accident took him out of the pros. They have a one night stand only to find out that not only do they live in the same building they’ll be working together to get her ex back in his hockey game.

This was a very fun, steamy read. Astrid is the most in denial person for someone who is in therapy that I’ve ever read which made me want to yell at her frequently but Avery’s characters tend to be over the top so I just embraced it. Cal is fabulous and very patient with Astrid and def a cinnamon roll hero 😍 It was fun to watch them fight their attraction to each other (or more aptly, watch Astrid fight it)

Walk of Shame is a hockey romantic comedy with a side of family drama. Astrid has been put through the wringer and has turned her back on hockey for the past five years; Cal suffered a career ending injury on the ice and is coming back to hockey through coaching. When Astrid and Cal meet one night at a bar sparks fly and the drama begins.

I really liked Astrid and the strength she showed getting through the incident that caused her to avoid hockey. I also liked the relationship she had with her dad and the staff. Cal, as an individual was endearing. However, together I felt the plot got away from the story as soon as the spice hit. I don't mind spicy scenes, but the insta-chemistry didn't have much to foundation to stand on and it made the ending choices a shallow hit.

Walk of Shame was a fast read, with plenty of spice and laugh out loud moments. Thank you to Entangled Publishing for the gifted copy to review!

Avery hits it out of the park with this contemporary hockey read that is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone.

Astrid O’Malley was jilted via Facetime moments before her wedding to a hockey player who chose the game over her.
Now left to pick up the pieces alone she’s determined to take control and declare she’s officially “D.O.N.E.” with the world of hockey.

Astrid would do anything for her Dad, but will she agree to return and help out at the hockey arena?
With the potential of opening old woulds and re-living those painful memories all over, will she face the world that broke her heart?

Cal Matsen has one chance to fix his career – help the goalie on the Ice Knights. Will his chances be put in the penalty box before he steps out onto the ice? What will happen when he discovers the woman he met the first night he was in town just so happens to be the coach’s daughter and might be the one obstacle that prevents him from salvaging his career?

Astrid and Cal will need to find a way to amend their own rules if they are going to survive working together. It will be a miracle if they don’t melt the ice when they are near each other. Will Call be the one to finally show her what’s she’s been missing?

This is a scorchin hot read where you might find an unexpected need to turn on the A/C. So steamy the pages ignite.

Astrid wants nothing to do with marriage, which is ironic because her love interest is the most husband-worthy male lead I have read in a long time! Five years after being left at the altar, Astrid has perfected four rules to moving on: Don’t hook up with anyone who knows where you work, where you live, or where you hang out. And never, ever, stay the night. So the hell does she find herself making the walk of shame down from her neighbor’s apartment!

Her therapist says it’s a sign of growth. I say it’s a sign of how freaking dreamy Cal is! He’s big and brawny and doesn’t care to socialize. But from the moment he met Astrid, he’s gone out of the way to support her. What she meant to be a one-nighter turns into a long string of “last times” when he turns out to be her neighbor, new coworker and pretty much the person who sees her best. Cal reminds me of Adam from Love Hypothesis in how he notices everything about her. He is the definition of a man written by a woman. And he gets Astrid is still healing and never holds it against her

If drinking diet coke is your entire personality, this book was custom made for you! Unfortunately, I will not be sharing this with my DC-crazed mother since the spice is flaming hot!! First scene within 10% babes (chefs kiss). Even though it has a lot of hockey jargon (these are devout puckheads or whatever the term may be), this book isn’t what you expect of a tropey sports romance. Instead, you have a well-rounded cast and full-bodied love story about finding yourself and trying again. And a lot of orgasm.

4.5 Stars for me!

This was a fun Hockey romance. I love when the FMC is involved in the sport as well.

There are a lot of characters to keep track of-- so that knocked it a half star for me, but overall, really enjoyed it!

This was the perfect hockey rom-com! I loved both Astrid and Cal individually, but I loved them even more together! Cal was such a sweetheart, and now one of my top book boyfriends. I was not expecting what happened in the epilogue either.

WALK OF SHAME By Avery Flynn

Five years ago, Astrid O’Malley experienced the ultimate in public humiliation. Being dumped at the altar by her childhood sweetheart was horrifying enough. That fact that he was a professional hockey goalie and her dad was his coach? It was all anyone in sports could talk about.
Eff hockey. Eff goalies.
These days, Astrid lives a life (mostly) free of hockey and free to pursue whoever she wants with exactly zero shame in her game. Like tonight’s hook-up. This guy’s nailed the lumberjack aesthetic perfectly. Especially when he has the stamina and creativity to back it up.
Because the rule is: it’s one night only. Which is gonna be a problem because she’s just discovered he lives in the apartment upstairs.
And he’s joined her dad’s team. As the goalie coach. To train her ex.
Now Astrid is in some kind of hockey hell–filled with her ex, her family, and the best sex of her life. And somehow she’s been roped back onto the team.

Walk of Shame by Avery Flynn, book two in the Downside of Dating series, Walk of Shame is a steamy, emotional, and fun sports romantic comedy with a lot of heat and sizzle, as a one-night stand becomes much more complicated than planned. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed Avery Flynn's hockey romances and her Ice Knights universe; this story was a lovely reminder.

Astrid O’Malley’s longtime professional hockey goalie boyfriend, Tig Jones, disappointed her one time too many when he stood her up on their wedding day, causing a breakup. From that moment, she decides that she wants nothing to do with hockey. Five years later, she is helping out a friend working in a pub, when the most handsome man she has ever seen arrives at the bar; their attraction is instant, the sparks are flying, tension is sizzling. After the hurt she felt from her ex, she comes with her own set of rules; one night only. Those rules are immediately broken when she has the hottest one-night stand in her life. Astrid’s rule might be one night only, except this gorgeous man lives in her building, in the apartment above hers. Cal isn’t much more stable than Astrid. He’s just lost the one thing that was most important in his life: his career as a hockey player, after a serious injury. This job as a coach, or goalie whisperer, for Tig Jones, is his one chance at staying relevant. He has no idea what to do with a life without hockey; until he realizes there are things more important than hockey. Then Astrid’s dad wants her to return to help him with the Ice Knights during his last year as coach which means she is going to be working with Cal. She is going to have figure out how to stay away from him.

Cal and Astrid have struggled with stopping after only one night because that night sizzled, their kisses are so sweet, and they can’t keep their hands off of each other or keep from thinking about the other. It was so much fun watching them evade and flirt with each other. I loved the small gifts attached to the diet cokes and the things that Cal did to let Astrid know that he was thinking of her. It was so sweet and melted my heart. Most of all, it is their relationship that helps them heal and move forward from all the pain and hurt of their pasts. Cal figuring out what he really wanted in life and the lengths he went to obtain it; definitely a turning point in their relationship.

Ms. Flynn wrote another wonderful, fun, humorous, unexpected insta-love story filled with shenanigans, sizzling chemistry, clever banter, and entertaining secondary characters that should definitely not be missed. It was so fun to see some of Ms Flynn's characters previous books living their happily ever afters. Getting to see Zach and Fallon, Frankie and Lucy, Ford, and Finn and the numerous children and pets was wonderful. I hope we get to see stories for Cal’s sisters as well as a follow up on the surprising match referred to in the epilogue.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This book is so funny! Astrid & Cal had amazing chemistry that turned into the best tension at work. Astrid is feisty and sassy and this book has amazing one liners! Seriously, I was laughing out loud.

Both Astrid and Cal had some healing to do and I really liked how that played out. Cal was really sweet with her and a total (hot) cinnamon roll. Sigh…the drawing was one of my favorite scenes.

The side characters in this book are epic! From the coaches and players to Astrid’s inner circle, I loved how they supported Cal and Astrid (sometimes unconventionally.)
I hope to be just as snarky as Mrs. Duffy someday. #TeamDietCoke #TeamBYOB

Be sure and read the epilogue because this series goes somewhere I never would have of expected!

This whole series is hysterical and very steamy—I’m here for it. The first book in The Downside of Dating series, Anger Bang, featured an over-the-top wedding that was being filmed for a reality TV series and a falling out between sisters that resulted in the main character getting her revenge and satisfaction (if you know what I mean).

In this installment, our heroine Astrid O’Malley was dumped...via FaceTime...minutes before they were due to get married. To make matters worse, her hockey goalie ex-fiance was also coached by her dad. She’s moved on as best as she could though, and these days zero commitment is the name of the game. So when she meets the hot tree of a man that is Cal Matsen she’s all in...but only for one night. There’s just one problem...ok, maybe two. It turns out that Cal lives in the apartment above her, and he’s just joined her dad’s hockey team as a specialist coach.

I loved a lot of things in this book, but especially the trash-talking. 😆 Both of the main characters come off as tough but deep down have a lot of insecurities. They were a good match for each other.

This book definitely starts with a bang too, and there is a lot of chemistry between them, even if they lack a super strong emotional connection.

5 years ago, Astrid was left at the alter by the star goalie. Since then, she has tried to swear off all things hockey. Kind of hard to do when your dad is a hockey coach.

Astrid has made it her mission to have a life of one night stands, and she is successful, until she meets Cal. The sparks fly between these two. First, she sleeps with Cal, even after she learns that he lives in her building. Then her dad talks her into working to bring back her ex's goalie mojo. If that isn't bad enough, she soon finds out that the goalie coach hired to help her ex is Cal!

I enjoy this author's books. They always make me laugh. I can't wait to read the next one.

Absolutely everything you expect this book would be. Fast paced. Steamy. A bit of drama, a bit of romantic suspense, "will they or won't they?", 100% enjoyable. I read it on a flight and it was perfect for that.

I enjoy Avery Flynn's work, I know exactly what I'll get, and am not disappointed.

Walk of Shame was a fun fast-paced read featuring betrayal, hockey, pigs, Diet Coke, and of course, love.

After Astrid is left at the altar by her hockey player boyfriend, she swears off love and hockey for good, or until her dad recruits her to come back to her old hockey job during his last season of coaching. While there she has to work with new goalie coach Cal to get her ex Tig to overcome a case of the yips.

Astrid is surprised to meet Cal who happened to be a one night stand that also lives in her building. Their attraction can’t be denied and they find themselves in some spicy situations. Hockey is a part of the story, but it’s more than just game talk. I enjoyed this hockey story because it focused on the people and relationships more than winning a big game or playing hockey itself. There were some fun side characters like the neighbor and the hockey uncles.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my fair and honest opinion.

This book was sizzling, right from the start! We always want what we can’t have, and it’s even better when we find out we really can have it.

This FMC is such a spitfire, and the MMC is more thoughtful than your ex from high school that you dated out of pity because even you could see how much he was enamored by you. But of course he only showed the sweetness to her, which obviously makes it even better.

I also LOVE this group of girlfriends, because it reminds me of my BFFS who would absolutely bury a body with me 100% no questions asked. But eventually probably a million questions asked and answered with plenty of vodka and gin consumed .

If you want a fun and sexy read, with a little hockey and some drama including reality TV on the side, this one’s for you!

First book I've read from this author and while I enjoyed her book I could have done without the excessive profanity and gratuitous sex. The story could have held up on its own without the overuse of curse words.

Astrid O'Malley is a professional hockey coaches' kid. She was left at the alter on her wedding day. Tig, the goalie who left for a better team and she went on a tour around the world of one-nighters. and now can't stand anything hockey related, 5 years later her dad is coaching a new team, her ex is the goalie and the hot lumberjack from the bar she thought was a one night stand is the "goalie whisperer" hired by her dad', to coach Tig and help him get his head out of his butt. Cal is HOT, great in bed and Astrid start breaking all her self-imposed rules.

There's a whole lot of denial, even more hot sex, friendship that any girl would envy and a lot of family loyalty packed into this book. I enjoyed the banter between Cal and Astrid, loved the support of her best friends, and how they finally get their HEA.

Walk of Shame is a romcom at its finest.

The story of Astrid and Cal will have you alternating between chuckles and tears as they find their way to happily ever after.

At times heartbreaking, you will find out, if you don't already know, just how to support 'your person'. Both Cal and Astrid are quietly adept at offering this without even realising it.

This new Avery Flynn novel is definitely worthy of anyone's tbr.

I love the name Astrid so I will start with that. Daughter of a Hickey coach and currently saying no to all stuff Hockey. She meets Cal and you can tell sparks fly between them. What happens when you meet your one night and he happens to work with the same hockey team as your ex? Yep! Cal is all about Astrid and seeing how he can get a chance. I didn’t read book one in the series but still felt like I wasn’t lost. I really liked Astrid and happy to see her healing and finding her HEA!
