Nobody does throuples quite like Katee Robert! I love Dark Olympus and eat up every Katee Robert novel.

The spice was immaculate per usual. Very on brand for Katee. The plot was great.

I find Eurydice and Orpheus retellings really interesting! But I wish we got more insight into the relationship. It felt a little rushed and incomplete.

I love these books on audio! The narrator does a great job!

Another series that to me is absolute perfection on audio. Just straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

I keep thinking “oh Katee can’t possibly top [previous book]” but then they go & do just that. Every time.

This series just keeps getting darker and wilder and I love it.

Special thanks to @dreamscape_media for the ALC.

Well, well. Katee Robert is just jumping into the deep end right away with this one! Almost no introductions given, as we've met most of these characters in previous books, and right into the plot and relationship right away in chapter one.
I did enjoy the relationship dynamics in this one, with our main (eventual) trio, and the family dynamics with the Olympians.
I feel like the books have balanced out to be 2/3 relationship focused for the MC of the book, and 1/3 plot intrigue for the whole Olympian mess. It seemed like no time at all was passing, only a couple days in the whole book. Probably more like a week... but so much is packed into the book that it can be hard to figure out what the heck is going on at times. I feel like it's starting to have the same problem that the later Laurell K Hamilton 'Anita' books had - part slightly disjointed plot, mostly relationship and sex, and at the end of the book it kind of feels like we've been running in place and not actually much has happened while it's only been a few days that have transpired.
Wasn't a big fan of Charon's POV or the puppy play type stuff with Orpheus, but that's just my personal tastes. Will definitely keep reading this series, hoping the next books are more like Wicked Beauty and Electric Idol.

This audiobook was excellent. The story was engaging and so well paced, and the way the three POVs were delivered in every area were engrossing. I put on the audiobook for something to listen to while working and ended up just sitting and absorbing it all. This may be my favorite installment yet!!

Midnight Ruin by Katee Roberts is book 6 in the Lore Olympus series. As a lover of greek mythology I love the way Roberts has navigated and protrayed the old greek tales in a new way... quite frankly a new spicy angle. This series is so much fun. I have loved all of the books so far.

The spiciness is 🔥🔥🔥
The plot is 🆗

I’m this far into the series so I’m invested in seeing it through. I like how diverse the characters are and the modern day twist on Olympus but I feel like with each book I’m less interested in the plot. I stay reading for the smut.

Thank you to Katee Robert, Dreamscape Media & Netgalley for sending me an audio ARC of Midnight Ruin!

I thoroughly enjoyed this steamy mythology MFM reimagining. I was almost crying at one point. The emotions were that high stakes.

Eurydice Dimitriou, Charon Ariti, and Orpheus Makos fall in deep, mad love in this story and it had me feeling all the feelings. Things are getting dangerous in Olympus though. What will that mean for their relationship, since some of them are from the upper city, and some are from the lower city?

🎧 I listened to this on audio and loved the narration.

🌶️ There's plenty of spice, smut and romance in this love triangle that I give this 5 chili peppers.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audioARC of this!

This story was very fun, and I liked the history that the characters had with each other, because the polyamory worked better for me when there were a lot of feelings involved already. Degradation is not my favorite type of smut, but overall I enjoyed the story. I like where the overarching plot seems to be going too.

And they just keep getting better. I don’t know if this one was actually better than the last two, but definitely on par. Just really, really good.

I am so glad that Robert has more fully leaned into “everyone is bi” in these later books, because I absolutely adore how queer these are. Just, like, really fucking queer, and not in the lip servicey kind of way that the first couple books in the series felt. I wonder if she was perhaps playing it safe with a new series? I don’t know, I don’t entirely care, I just want this level of amazing sexy queerness to continue for the rest of the series.

In this one we have Charon, Eurydice, and Orpheus. Orpheus did a bad to Eurydice a year ago (in Neon Gods) and they’ve both been in a bad place ever since. Charon wants to be with Eurydice, but she won’t be with him because she’s still hung up on Orpheus. I feel like you can figure out where things go from here. I enjoyed the slight delve into some light kinkiness in this one, as it led to some 🔥🥵🔥. Phew!

The political upheaval in Olympus continues and a key player is revealed! (also, I totally called it!) I’m very much enjoying the mafia-esque storylines of these books, with a lot of hot sexy times thrown in.

I am continually blown away by how good this series has become and I absolutely can not wait for book 7. The Minotaur and Ariadne?!? Yes please!

We are back to the level of spice that I expect and love from Katee! The plot was fine and I’m curious were the story is going, but I’m mostly here for the characters and the relationships and this one seemed to develop quite organically so I really enjoy it, plus those three are HOT together

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and found it to be really intriguing! It was spicy but it wasn’t spicy to the point of taking away from the story and I love that!

Absolutely love this spicy series! Charon is one of my favorite characters in mythology, so I'm glad he got his own story. I'm also in love with the male narrator! He could read a shampoo bottle to me and make my heart race.

To be fair on this review, I think you need to read the whole series in order. There are some that you can jump into in the middle and some you can’t- this one is not great as a stand-alone. There is history here and political things that are happening that you might not understand if you haven’t read the rest- like me. So, with that- this one was just okay for me. Some very interesting scenes.

🌀Synopsis
Eurydice has two love interests. Her best friend Charon and her ex- Orpheus. While things with Charon are fine, there is still longing for Orpheus and Orpheus still wants Eurydice. He wants her so much he’s willing to do anything and that includes taking both Eurydice and Charon into his heart and his home. He’s determined to atone for his sins for and with both of them.

Another great romance from Katee Robert that made me tingly all over! Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook that I constantly had to turn down while I was driving. If you like spicy, you'll love this book/audiobook.

Katee Robert's "Midnight Ruin," the sixth installment in the Dark Olympus series, immerses readers in a world where modern romance bundles with the complexities of Olympian politics and mythology. Centered around Eurydice Dimitriou's journey from heartbreak to newfound love, the novel offers a captivating exploration of relationships, power dynamics, and the blurred lines between love and control. As the story unfolds, Eurydice emerges from the shadow of her family's influence, grappling with her past heartbreak and finding solace in the arms of Charon Ariti, Hades's loyal right-hand man. Their burgeoning romance takes a surprising turn with the return of Eurydice's ex-lover, Orpheus Makos, adding depth and complexity to their dynamic. One of the novel's strengths lies in its bold modernisation of Greek mythology, offering readers a fresh perspective on timeless tales. The secondary plot surrounding the unrest in Olympus adds depth to the story but could benefit from further exploration.

The audiobook narration, performed by Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock, adds a layer of depth to the story. While Eurydice’s portrayal captures the character's complexity and vulnerability, it’s important to note that some listeners may find certain aspects of the male narration distracting or off-putting.

"Midnight Ruin" is a captivating addition to the Dark Olympus series, offering readers a compelling blend of romance, mythology, and intrigue. While the novel may have its flaws, it ultimately delivers an engaging and entertaining read that will appeal to fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and the editorial team for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC in audiobook format and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

The modern city of Olympus is under the control of the thirteen, but not for much longer. Eurydice Dimitriou has been hiding out with her sister Persephone and her husband Hades in the lower city. Sheltered, she's always been seen as the innocent one who gets her heartbroken. Her ex, Orpheus Makos, broker her heart and betrayed her. While she attempts to heal her broken heart, she lives under the protection of Hades' right-hand man, Charon Ariti.  Charon has given everything he has to protect the lower city, but he's found himself in love with Eurydice. While the two explore each other, Orpheus attempts to make things right. What follows is a polyamorous romance full of kink and control.

For those who have been reading the Dark Olympus series, this is business as usual. The city is in danger with multiple players pushing the boundaries and putting Olympus at risk. No one is truly safe, and you get that vibe right away. The audiobook is narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock. I will admit to laughing hysterically every time Moorcock says the word "baby," which is fairly often. His deep British accent longs for a different word.

Midnight Ruin is now available in print and on audiobook.

I seem to have a preference for the books in this series that take place in the lower city, aka the domain of Hades.

This is the story of Eurydice and her path to a poly relationship with Charon and Orpheus, but it's also the tale of Orpheus finding redemption from his past mistakes. The forgiveness of Orpheus felt a bit rushed as far as plot points go. But otherwise, the characters interactions were all very sweet.

I'm not a huge fan of the male narrator for this series, but I do love Zara Hampton-Brown.

This was fun. Not my favorite in the series, but still a good time. It was lacking a bit of the plot compared to some of the others in the series. I tend to prefer them when they’re 50% plot and 50% romance, and I would say this was 70% romance and 30% plot. Though the plot points definitely moved along the overall political stuff going on pretty substantially.

I also found the partners here lacked a bit of the chemistry that usually is the pinnacle of these books. They all just felt a little bit flat here. Some really great growth each individually, but I wasn’t overly enamored like I usually am.

One of the things that I love about anything written by Katee Robert is that while you can expect some spice, no doubt about that, you will 100% still get plot. Katee never steam rolls us with one or the other and guess what? The plot is GOOD!
Midnight Ruin was such an amazing continuation of the Dark Olympus series. While each novel does tell stories regarding different main lead characters, the overall arc of the novels is consistent. It would be extremely hard to try to read them as a standalone, in my opinion, as you would be missing out of valuable information.
Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus are my new fav triad, hands down. Sorry Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus, y’all have been demoted.
