I think this one was up there with my favorites in the series. I absolutely adore how poly community is represented in these books. I loved how the love progressed and how fiercely they protected each other. It’s crazy thinking about myths in current times and the whole “loophole” to replace them is adding a drama to these books that I love. I do think that Eurydice was a bit pigheaded and got herself into situations that didn’t need to happen, but I also am sure that there were some parts that are from the original myths that didn’t need to be changed.

Looooooove that we have a poly couple in this series! This was nice retelling of eurydice and Orpheas!

'Midnight Ruin" honestly was such a fantastic, spicy read! I went in not realizing what the relationship dynamic for this one was and was honestly very happily surprised with it. I have recently read a few other poly, MMF relationship stories and absolutely loved reading this relationship dynamic represented on the page in such a healthy way. It felt so natural to see the way our three MCs were drawn to each other, too. Oooh and the kink play was well done! Love the way Katee writes kink in books in such a safe, approachable way.
I will say... this is only the second book in the Dark Olympus series that I've read thus far (I know, I've gotta catch up!!) But it has officially converted me and I will now be reading the entire lot of them (past and future books to come). The other book in the series I had read prior to this one was "Neon Gods," so this was actually in so many ways the perfect follow up read for me since I had already met Eurydice, Orpheus and Charon as characters in that book. Of course, I missed a good year of the overarching political plot, so it's harder for me to comment on how well the plot progressed in comparison to other books in the series. However, I will say that it didn't significantly affect my reading experience to have not read the four books in between so it was a solid stand-alone read for me in most ways.
I also have to shoutout the audiobook narrators, Zara Hampton-Brown & Alex Moorcock, because I think they did a FANTASTIC job! I'm grateful to have received this book in this format because that's how I read "Neon Gods" originally, as well. I was happily surprised to hear familiar voices for this book too, but was also impressed that the VAs did such a commendable job with changing the the characters voices from Hades/Persephone to Orpheus/Charon/Eurydice. Each felt distinct with their own flair and personality shown through.
Overall, had a great time reading this installment in the Dark Olympus series! Can't wait to back and catch up on the other books already currently out in the series, as well as future books from Katee.

Eurydice finds herself torn between new love Charon and former love Orpheus.
This was a really good addition to the Dark Olympus series! The ongoing story line is advanced with some big revelations. I honestly can't wait to see what happens as the series continues.
As with all of Katee Robert's books, the spice is top tier and perfectly placed. I really liked the combination of the the three characters and wanted nothing more than to see them come together. They were honestly so well fit with each other.
The audio narration was perfect. Both narrators did an amazing job with the characters, changing tones to fit the different characters.
All in all, a great addition to the series, and one of my favorites of the series.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted copy!

I really enjoy the balance of plot to romance in this title. I've read a couple other books by Katee Robert, and this one seemed to have a bit more plot, which I enjoyed. The relationships between the three main characters was really interesting, though I felt Charon and Orpheus's feelings toward each other were developed very quickly. Still a lot to pack into a book and it's about what I expect from this genre, so it didn't bother me too much. I'll definitely pick another book of hers up in the future!

Everything you expect from Katee Robert in this series - great story, lots of steam, interesting family relations, drama, mystery.
I had the audio and I adore the audio of this series. The voices are perfection and it only adds to the story.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Another home run for Katee Roberts. These books are so fire. I started reading this series because I heard they were SPICY. but I have continued the series because the plot and story line is totally consuming. The spice becomes background for the outstanding plots and twists.

Unfortunately, I felt like this was another miss in the Dark Olympus series.
There was no advancement to the overarching plot until the end, and the only memorable scenes I can recall clearly are the spicy ones. Literally nothing happened in this book.
I do think the audiobook is well done; I’ve listened to two Dark Olympus books on audio, and I’ve enjoyed both. However, I think it can get confusing having the same narrators for every male and female character.
Thank you for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

This was a good addition to the series! I've loved this series since I started it about a year ago, and I'm grateful to have been sent an ARC. I am not usually a fan of MMF stories, and although I enjoyed the characters and the writing, I just wasn't all that interested in their story nor the trope specific to this book. I did enjoy the plot a bit in this one, we got a lot more action and are finally seeing who is behind all of the actions against the Thirteen which was shocking in my opinion.
I usually don't enjoy listening to erotica on audio, but I thought I would give this one a shot and I think that I didn't enjoy our audiobook narrators for this one. The way that they annunciated and said some of the dialogue honestly made me cringe, and I have always enjoyed Katee's writing. I probably won't request any of her other books on audio because I think I just prefer to read them myself. But this was a user problem, and not the audiobook or narrators.
Overall, a solid read and I can't wait for the next and to see where the plot goes. I always love getting to revisit with Hades and Persephone. Thank you to NetGalley, Katee Robert, and Dreamscape Media for the audioARC of Midnight Ruin. Available now!

Thank you to the publisher and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC to read and review. This review is my own.
Charon x Eurydice x Orpheus polam romance features a friends to lovers plot, puppy/shame/praise kink, and Eurydice is a switch. Charon and Eurydice become friends turned lovers and Charon wants more with Eurydice but he recognizes that she is still hung up emotionally on her ex- Orpheus. He seeks Orpheus out and asks him to make it right with Eurydice so she can move past him.
Eurydice is shocked when Orpheus shows up but is also shocked on how much she likes being in control and Charon loves seeing her being in control and the impact it has on Orpheus. The three of them begin this sexy grovel that turns more and that painting kinky scene will be in my head for a very long time.
I also loved seeing more of who is behind the take down of the Upper 13. Things are about to pop off in this world even more and I am eager for who is next.

4.5 Stars! Argh! I want to know what happens next! I found this a little bit slow at the beginning, but it quickly picked up speed. It kept me wanting more and more! The suspense! The hotness! I loved it all!
I purposely made every effort to avoid reading the book summary so I would be surprised by the story. And boy, was I ever! Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus are the prefect thruple! Charon brings Orpheus into the relationship without consciously doing so. But it's all so perfect!
I typically listen to audiobooks while I'm doing chores. A lot happened in the last bunch of chapters, to the point that I would stop what I was doing just so I could concentrate on the story! The events at the end set us up for the next book in the series. Oooh, I'm so excited for it!
The selection of narrators were just right for Orpheus and Eurydice. But in my opinion, when I first met Charon in Electric Idol (Book 2), I envisioned someone with a more 'dangerous' voice. This is the first book in this series for which I listened to the audiobook - I read the first 5. So I only had voices I made up in my head for the characters. It was not off-putting, just unexpected.
There is a lot of connectivity to the rest of the books in this series. That said, I think it is possible to understand the story arc as a standalone book. But for the full enjoyment, I do recommend that you read the first 5 books first.
Thank you Katee Robert and NetGalley for this ALC. The above is my own and personal opinion.

Wooooooo this was spicy as usual!
I received this ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
So let me preface this by saying I’ve never had a spicy book on audiobook and w h e w. I wasn’t ready. The plot was well thought out and I love that it is a true series and you find out more and more about what’s going on as you read the books. I also like that characters you’ve been introduced to in other stories have their roles in this book too. It’s a level of continuity not every author can hit. Plus, there is *plenty* of spice. I do think the ending was a bit on the cheesy side considering how rough and tumble this romance is, but maybe that’s what it needed to bring it together.
The characters are well fleshed out and interesting and multifaceted. The nice thing about multiple POV’s is that you are introduced into the characters thoughts and feelings, offering a deeper understanding. There’s also great character development! And as always with her books, there’s fantastic representation across all races and sexualities.
The writing is fluid as always and easy to read and visualize. The narration was nice as well, I appreciated the variances in speed and volume dependent on the mood of the book at any given time. I thought listening to this level of spice would be awkward for me, but I was wrong. I think part of it was the commitment of the narrators.
All in all, I enjoyed this immensely. 4.75⭐️ and I’m dying to know what’s next.

This was another good addition to the Dark Olympus series. I think that as the series has gone on the books have been less of a retelling/less inspired by the myths. While the names are those of the Greek gods, the series has taken on new enemies and conflicts. I like that each book is an interconnected standalone and you can still see what’s happening with some of your favorite characters. You are able to experience new stories and finally learn about those side characters you have been hearing about.
I did listen to this in the Audiobook format, so I’ll be discussing what I liked and disliked for both the story itself and the audiobook.
Let’s start with the story. We’ve seen these characters throughout the other books so it was about time that their stories were told. I enjoyed that it was an MMF romance, which is different than the other books. In saying that, I was looking forward to these characters, and I found that one kind of disappointed me. I think it was the dialogue, it just wasn’t what I wanted/expected. It felt forced and every time he spoke I cringed or rolled my eyes.
Our FMC is finally making her place in the world, I liked seeing her growth and I know she’ll continue to grow. Same goes for our one MMC, he has changed so much and I love who he has become. Our other MMC, I’m not using names because I don’t want to influence you, but, meh. I’m a little disappointed in him. Not his actions, it’s strictly the dialogue I didn’t like.
The story itself is a bit of continuation from the other books, but it can still be read as a standalone. While the previous books will give more history and depth to the story, it’s not completely detrimental to read this on its own. There was a decent opening left at the end to continue the story, not the couple, but the overall overarching plot.
When it comes to the audiobook, I honestly think it was just a dialogue. The female narrator was pretty good and I do like that the male narrator switched between both characters. It’s just whenever that dialogue happened and I heard “baby”, a little bit of an ick.
I very much enjoyed the other novels and I enjoyed the plot of this book. I don’t know if it seemed out of character/not what I imagined that I wasn’t feeling some of the dialogue, but I enjoyed the story. It was probably just me though. I will be reading the next book in the series because I do want to see what happens with that overarching plot.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen this book. All opinions are my own.
3.5/5

The Dark Olympus series has become a constant in my reading rotation, and I eagerly anticipate each new release. Katee Robert continues to excel in crafting intricate relationships, navigating the complexities with finesse, all while staying true to the overarching plot that ties each new romantic entanglement together.
The dynamics between Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus unfolded in a faster pace compared to some of the previous relationships in the series, especially for a polyamorous dynamic. While I usually prefer a more gradual development, the accelerated pace worked seamlessly in this instance. Katee skillfully introduced us to these characters in earlier books, offering glimpses into Eurydice and Orpheus's dating history and subsequent breakup, as well as the deepening connection between Eurydice and Charon. With that said, their feelings for each other felt well-established, as we had essentially already experienced the third-act breakup, allowing us to dive into Orpheus's penance and the realization of Eurydice and Charon's friends-to-lovers romance.
The groundwork laid in previous books provided the perfect foundation for Katee to deliver her trademark spicy romance while progressing the overarching plot. The book maintained a quick pace, and I found myself captivated by the dynamic between the characters. The steamy scenes were on point as the characters explored kink and the dynamics of a non-traditional relationship.
One of the strengths in this series is the frequent cameos of beloved characters from earlier books. Katee's storytelling left me anticipating more, particularly as I'm eager to discover what Hera and Hermes are up to.
The narrators of "Midnight Ruin" did a commendable job, and while their pacing was slightly quicker, adjusting the speed to 1.75x from 2x enhanced the listening experience for me.
One aspect that has piqued my curiosity throughout the series is the choice of British-accented narrators. Although it's a personal preference, I've often found that British accents can alter the smoothness of the endearment "baby," which Charon uses frequently in this book. In my opinion, the term doesn't quite roll off the tongue as effortlessly with a British accent as it does with a North American one. Charon's excessive use of this endearment felt somewhat incongruous with his character, but that is a matter of personal preference. Overall, it didn't detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the audiobook.
I would rate this book at a 3.5 star, but I'm rounding it up to 4 stars.

Smutty goodness as always! There was very little plot movement and a very abrupt end. Keep them wanting I guess? Do I still love Dark Olympus-yep! I want more! I’m a sucker for this series.
I read the first three in this series in physical form and then jumped at this one for audio. I sadly thought the audio performances were really cringy and had this been my first spicy audiobook, I think I’d pass on all others. I will stick to the physical copies for these books.

Anytime I am looking for an engaging and hot escape, I pick up something from Katee Robert. I’ve read the Touch of Taboo series in its entirety, part of the Deal with a Demon and O’Malley series and her newest book, Hunt on Dark Waters. Every book is a good time. I got pulled into the Dark Olympus series with Neon Gods and have devoured every book since.
Midnight Ruin is the 6th book in the series, and I would highly recommend reading all the books in order to get the most out of this one. Technically. you could read this as a standalone, but there will be spoilers for earlier couples and previous plot points.
I really enjoyed the plot of Midnight Ruin and although I have liked the whole series, it stands out as one of the stronger books. Midnight Ruin felt more balanced, a more even split between suspense and smut.
After having read the e-book, I was very eager to re-read via the audio since I enjoyed it so much. I found the audio to be a bit disappointing. I liked the female narrator, but did not like the male narrator's voice for Charon. His Orpheus voice was fine. Every time he said "baby" it would take me out of the story because I didn't like the way he said it. It also took some time getting used to the correct ways to say each characters name. I had been pronouncing Charon as "Sharon" and didn't realized the true pronunciation was "Care-Ron".
Overall, I really enjoyed the plot of this book and would stick with a physical read if I had a choice. I can’t wait for the opportunity to travel back to Olympus again with Dark Restraint in August. Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the early copy, all thoughts are my own.

I really enjoyed this book, and loved what it brought to the Dark Olympus series. In previous books, I felt like the polyamorous relationships were not as well ironed out as what I had hoped, and this book did everything I wanted and more. I loved the suspense and the action and feel that the pacing of the story was really well done. I also loved all of the spicier scenes and feel that each relationship was well thought out. I did not know I would like puppy play, but wow were those scenes written well. My only critique, a small spoiler for those who have not read it yet, is that Charon is not as close-minded about Orpheus as I had expected to me. This is not to say his actions and reactions were not welcomed, I just thought he would have been angrier and more guarded than he turned out to be. Other than that, I really loved this book and highly recomend it!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media & Katee Robert for an audio arc of Midnight Ruin in exchange for an honest review.
I have been a fan of the Dark Olympus series from the beginning, so obviously, I was excited for installment #6.
This story focuses on Caron, Orpheus and Eurydice while also continuing the main plot that has developed over the course of the series, which is at the point now where Minos is getting dangerously close to overtaking Olympus with the help of his mysterious benefactor, who we finally learn the identity of. And it was not who I thought it was going to be!
I am determined to see this series through & I know there is at least one more book to come, but honestly, I'm ready for this series to be finished. At this point, it just feels like the same thing over & over & over again. Same story, different characters. If I'm being completely honest, I started getting a little board with it starting with Wicked Gods. Robert is is trying to give readers something different with the outlandish sex scenes, but even those are being recycled from book-to-book. Either we need something truly different or this series needs to wrap up quickly. It's like a guest that has overstayed his welcome.
With that said, I would still rate Midnight Ruin with 4-Stars and will continue recommending the series.

Whenever I pick up a new Katee Robert, I just know it's going to be spicy. And Midnight Ruin delivers, in spades.
Eurydice is still reeling after being manipulated by her ex, Orpheus, and used as a pawn in the chess game that is Olympian politics. She's always been the sheltered one, but she's ready to break out of her sisters' shadow. And she's ready to move on with Charon, the man who has been her friend as she's picked up the pieces of her heart. But she still wants closure with Orpheus, which Charon arranges for her to get. Even if, in the offering, he has to share her heart.
What none of them expect is to fit so seamlessly together--all three of them.
Life in both the upper and lower cities is getting increasingly dangerous for members of the thirteen--even the legacy families--now that the assassination clause has been revealed. All our favorite characters are scrambling to stay ahead of them enemies, as the wards around Olympus are failing and danger lurks at every turn.
Robert keeps upping the action AND the heat as the Dark Olympus series continues, and I am here for it! Can't wait for book seven!

I kinda love that the Dark Olympus series has somehow become a romantic suspense series. Come for the smut, stay for the political warfare, you know? I know a lot of people jumped ship around the time that happened, but I'm glad I've stuck around because I'm having a great time here!
Midnight Ruin is another solid entry in the series, one that features some great poly rep, particularly around negotiating boundaries, identifying desires, and figuring things out by talking it through. I just love the way polyamory is depicted in these books!
I appreciate that we get to see Eurydice as a mature, grounded character who is fully capable of speaking up for herself. Given how she's been portrayed in earlier installments, I wasn't sure what to expect. Her relationship with Charon feels good from the start of this, and the way Orpheus becomes involved really worked for me -- it's fun and flirty, while still feeling healthy.
If you haven't read any of the Dark Olympus books, or if it's been a while, I don't recommend starting or restarting here. Otherwise, I can't see why you wouldn't enjoy it at least as much as the others.
