This book is a little hard to rate and I'm not really sure why. So the entire beginning of the book was very slow and hard to get into. I wasn't enjoying the plot very much (mainly because there wasn't much of one). BUT this author does a really good job with the spice. If you love a good spicy book, you know this one won't disappoint. I do feel like the last 60% of the book picked up and I got a little more of a storyline. I think this set up the next book in the series extremely well, and pretty much most of the time I was listening to this, I was just excited to get more information about the characters in the next book. The narrators are the same that have been in the previous books. Again, I do wish the males had more of a distinction between their voices because they sound the same and I have to pay attention very closely to see whose POV I was listening from. But they all did a great job with the narration as usual. If you've been loving this series and you love this author, this one probably won't disappoint.

Darn near perfect book! The spice. The story. The drama. I loved it all! My only complaint was some parts felt dragged out and misplaced within the storyline. I understood what Katee was trying to do, but I felt it was thrown in so the book wasn’t all spice. The cliffhanger though…

I’ll admit I’ve skipped around the Dark Olympus series because they seem to be either really good or really awful in terms of storylines. This one, however, was perfect. I plan to go back and read any of the books I skipped.

The narrators were great as usual, although i preferred Alex reading as Charon rather than Orpheus.

Thanks so much NetGalley and Dreamscape audio for the audiobook for review!

I am loving this series. It’s spicy, has drama, and political intrigue and turmoil. This book focuses on Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus and their relationship. I really loved the relationship. It’s MMF with some puppy play and everyone is queer. What more could you want?
I was lucky enough to get the ALC from NetGalley and dreamscape media in exchange for an honest review. I loved the audiobook. I listened to it in one sitting while cleaning my apartment. The narrators who also great and who doesn’t like an English accent. I highly recommend the book but definitely the audiobook.
I can’t wait to see how this series progresses.

Anyone who has been here a while knows that I love Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series, and this was no exception. The dynamics between Charon and Eurydice and Orpheus was a perfect power balance. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to see what happens!

Can you imagine trying to pronounce this name by yourself when you're reading it? Luckily for me, I'm listening to the audio and avoid embarrassing myself 🤣

This book follows Eurydice who used to be dating Orpheus, before he abandoned her for an opportunity and put her in danger. She has since tried to move on and struck a friendship with Charon. Her relationship with Charon accelerated very quickly at the beginning since they were already friends for a year, and they just moved straight into sexy time. Then Orpheus showed up to apologize and paid his penance. From there they try to navigate their relationship as a trio…

I always wanted to read Katee Robert’s book, and oh boy did it live up to the hype. I am always on the lookout for good MMF Menages (not MFM), I love the dynamic of this couple, EXCEPT for the puppy play as it is just not for me. So I just close my eyes for that part (it’s just brief anyway), basically Euridyce uses pet play/degradation to punish Orpheus. Charon is confident that Eurydice will choose him at the end, and let her have a closure with Orpheus. What he didn’t expect was the intense attraction between him and Orpheus.

The plot is so thick and a bit confusing for me, having jumped into the 6th book, so many characters that I didn’t recognize or know about their back story, so I just focused on the plot between the trio. The smut is top-notch, it was hot and steamy and everything I wanted from MMF dynamic. The audio, however, is just not my favorite if you’re a fan of Katee Robert’s book and MMF, you will love this one.

Another entry in the Dark Olympus series and this one has some big reveals for the macro-plot! I love where the political stuff is headed. The romance is pretty good too, though not my favorite of the series. We have a polyamorous triad with Eurydice, her best friend turned love interest Charon, and her ex Orpheus who has a hell of a lot to apologize and make up for. This one involves power play and groveling in a way that isn't really my thing, but I think it ultimately works for the characters. At this point though, I'm just very invested in where the larger plot is headed! The audiobook brings back the same narrators for the rest of the series, which is fine even if the main male narrator isn't my favorite. He's grown on me. I received an audio review copy of this book from Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

Thank you to Dreamscape and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for an honest review

I just adore this series and so glad the narrators have stayed consistent. The narration always adds to the story, and just adds to the tension that has me blushing, needing ot know what will happen next and just falling for these characters every time.

Not my favorite of all the books in the series, but not my least favorite either. It was just good. Entertaining but I felt like I was waiting for something more.

this book was okey, it wasn't bad, but it didn't stick out to me. I didn't especially loved the characters, but I didn't find them annoying, so a win is a win.
This book felt like a filler, cus nothing much happene and it moved plot forward just a little. The smut was good as usual.
But it made me even more excited for HeraZeus book 9 and I didn't know it was possible.
audiobook note: the narrator read Charon name like "Karen" and embarrassing numer of times I was like who tf is Karen and what is she doing here💀

I received this book as an audio ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Midnight Ruin is the sixth book in the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert, which follows characters in a slightly magical version of our world. In her version of Olympus, the author has constructed a political system where the major gods of Greek mythology, like Zeus, Athena, and Apollo, are political titles rather than individual people. Minor gods and heroes, like Achilles, Persephone, and Callisto, are characters vying for these political positions and navigating through an often brutal and violent world.

This addition to the series fits tonally with the rest of the books. It is a spicy retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth which also involves Charon, who in Greek mythology is the ferryman who takes recently deceased souls across the River Styx. While it could be read as a standalone if you only care about the central romance, the political aspects of the story are significant enough that I would advise reading the books in order.

The strength of this book is it's characters. I did enjoy all 3 of the POVs, which is significant. In some previous entries, most notably book 5, I felt as though some POVs were more compelling than others. Additionally, we get to revisit Hades and Persephone from the first book, Neon Gods, which was enjoyable.

Ultimately, those who have already established that they enjoy this world will be perfectly satisfied with this book. Those who have not yet read from this series should start with book one. If Neon Gods didn't work for you but you liked the premise of the world, I would recommend trying the second book, Electric Idol, which I think is a much stronger book.

I am giving this book 3.75 stars. It was a good version of what it is, but is not my favorite entry in the series.

I've loved this series from the first book onward and Midnight Ruin was no exception. I think it can be really hard to find a good mix of plot and sex in a smutty book but I loved the balance in this one. There were plenty of hot and steamy scenes! A lot of the plot throughout the series really came together in this one. And the cliffhanger of an ending has me so excited for the next installment! I highly recommend this for fans of spicy retellings and Katee Robert.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Katee Robert never fails to bring the spice! I love going back to Olympus, and the inclusivity that Robert so seamlessly delivers. Eurydice, Orpheus, and Charon figure out their relationship amidst the threat of murder in this book. Super spicy MFM scenes with great narration.

Sooooooo we have to wait how long until the next one?

In this new installment we get puppy play/threescore smut. And an Orpheus redemption arc. And I'll say it all surprised me in a great way. It was a fun and thrilling, at times, read. I think I finished this within 24 hours of getting.

I think the narrators nailed it. And while I loved the voice of Eurydice, I found myself looking forward to Charon and Orpheus' chapters more. Weird I know. But I liked that budding dynamic. I think they all compliment each other wonderfully.

I'm also stoked we have moved further into the Olympus plot with war blooming on the horizon. I think everything is coming to a head and the next books are only going to get more explosive. Even though Hades and Persephone are my forever endgame and I LOVED seeing more of them in this, I'm finding each book just gets better with each release. Katee Robert just knows how to draw us in. Even if there was no spice or fade to black, I would be hooked on this series. I love the build up with every new installment.

I always enjoying jumping back into this world. I'd live there! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

Eurydice Dimitriou has always been the innocent one, the sheltered one. No longer. She’s finally ready to step out of the long shadow cast by her mothers and sisters. After her ex broke her heart, she’s picking up the pieces in the lower city…with the help of Charon, a man she’s drawn to even as she’s not sure she has enough heart left to give.

Charon Ariti has been Hades’s right-hand man for years. He’s given everything to the lower city, but now he’s ready to take something for himself. Even knowing it might be a mistake, he’s drawn to Eurydice’s hidden strength and her determination to keep moving forward. He’s only too happy to give her a special kind of education…at least until her ex comes calling.

Orpheus Makos will do whatever it takes to make things right. Once the golden boy of the upper city, he’s now lost everything. His art, his fortune, his fame? They’re nothing compared to the love he can’t stop thinking about. He’ll do anything to get her back…even if it means she’s not coming into his arms alone.

But with enemies slipping through Olympus’s faltering barrier into the lower city in increasing numbers, a trio of broken hearts will be the least of these lovers’ worries

Midnight Ruin is a perfect balance of smut and plot!

The plot was meaningful and action packed and it was super engaging.
I will say I was not looking forward to anything with Orpheus based on the previous books. However, he did start to grow on me and I did value the redemption arc. Though he was still my least favorite of the main characters.

This was the perfect way to move along the plot of this series. I finally feel like something is happening and we are getting close to the big event of the series!

I listened to this book and the narrators were incredible!

I never listen to audiobooks but I am on vacation this week so thought I would give it a try and I loved it actually! I thought the narrators were really captivating and I felt immersed in the story. I love anything by Katee Robert so really enjoyed the story as well! I thought the book dragged a little more than her usual but still I had a fun time. Also the spice scenes were great if that is your thing. Will for sure recommend this book and series to others!

When I tell you I devoured this audiobook.. I only received it 2 days ago and finished it early this morning because it was so addicting. I have been a fan of the series and was excited for this book but as someone who tends not to listen to audiobooks for romance novels I felt like I was venturing a bit out of my comfort zone. The narrators voices are relaxing, their accents adding a lot to the story. I do think there are parts where you might want to make sure you have headphones in but I absolutely loved this! The book itself definitely lives up to my expectations and watching how Katee Robert gets better and better with each book even when it's not normally a relationship I would pick up a book about is incredible. Her writing is smooth and seamless and I have loved reading every book in this series to relax on a weekend off! Very excited to see what she does with the rest of the series.

I went into this story with lots of reservations... Orpheus? Ugh. Puppy play? Not my thing, but okay... COLOR ME SURPRISED BECAUSE HOT DANG THAT WAS SO GOOD IN UNEXPECTED WAYS. I also reread via the audiobook and loved it all over again. Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock did a wonderful job narrating this story.

*possible small spoilers ahead*

Firstly, I want to point out that Charon is E V E R Y T H I N G. Just everything. He is so sweet, protective, understanding and seriously just everything. I get that Eurydice had hang ups with Orpheus, but her all but telling Charon he wasn't enough for her, I wanted to smack her upside the head with the frying pan he used to cook her breakfast. And somehow he took that in stride and found himself in love with Orpheus too.

Orpheus was nothing like I expected him to be from the previous books in the series. He was clearly so broken after what he did to Eurydice. Should he have known better? Yes, but he owned up to that and didn't in fact spend the past year screwing anything in sight. And then he literally begged like a dog for forgiveness and sure as heck earned mine.

I really enjoyed the suspense and action in this story as well. I was so tense at times reading, wondering what was going to happen next. It's certainly setting up the next books to be really interesting.

Why four stars you ask when I clearly loved this book? The ending. What in the heck Katee?! *sobs uncontrollably* I was expecting more. Like more pages, even just five. But instead we make it past the third act and then stop on a dime with barely a HFN in sight. I'm really hoping she makes it up to us in bonus epilogues *fingers crossed* but for now I'm going to sit and stew and dream of good boys in nurse maid outfits.

I will always look forward to Zara Hampton-Brown and Alex Moorcock. They really make the series for me.

I was really looking forward to this installment, but it just wasn't there for me. Something was missing.
I don't know if I liked Charon. His constant use of baby gave me the ick.
Loved Orpheus being a pup. Having to pay penance, perfect. As he should.
Eurydice is super relatable, if both is an option you take it.

The overlapping political storyline was so good in this. I can't wait to see where that goes.

Midnight Ruin is the 6th book in the Dark Olympus series and while this series has had some hits and misses for me, this one was a fun time. I’ve found the audios just hit right when I want to mix up my reading or take a break from other reads.

The greek mythology has kind of fallen to the wayside and it’s all about the political intrigue of this complex world. And of course the spice. This one is MFM and just a fun time. We have both a friends to lovers romance happening and then a second chance situation happening too, plus a triad situation. It works for them, the audio worked for me.

I received an audio ALC from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley, all thoughts in this review are my own!
