Be warned of the secret Chesterfield Apple Pie Recipe! Lol!

Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors and this book just reminded me why! One thing about this book that I loved was the wide variety of characters within the story (seriously, who would expect a Grandma named Meemaw who has a huge pet pig in a Gilded age story!) They are so detailed and have so much personality that I feel like I know them! Camilla and Owen are also incredibly fun charters and the chemistry between them is undeniable. There was also a good dose of humor with a dash of danger thrown in the mix which made for an unforgettable adventure! Overall, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars!

I was given this book to read and review - all opinions are my own.

Another fantastic book by Jen Turano. I have read this whole series and loved it. Meeting Her Match was no exception. Camilla and Owen's meeting was unique to say the least. Owen comes to Camilla and Lottie's rescue. Camilla and Owen both need each other's help for different reasons, and agree to work together. Camilla agrees to help sponser Owen's sister for a season because she knows her life is in danger and she needs to get away. She not only falls in love with Own, but she falls in love with his small town too. Their romance was really sweet. If you love historical romance with a hint of suspense, you will love Meeting Her Match by Jen Turano.

Miss Camilla Pierpont, a renowned matchmaker in New York's elite society, has vowed never to marry. Rescued from an abduction attempt by the outspoken Mr. Owen Chesterfield, she agrees to sponsor his sister's social rehabilitation and travels with him to West Virginia, where she finds herself charmed by Owen and his small hometown. As danger looms, Camilla faces the possibility of making her most spectacular match yet—her own.

Well, this was a fun, if a bit ridiculous, tale. It was light-hearted and good for a weekend afternoon. Camilla was a fun character to follow, though I didn’t feel as though she grew at all. She was the same person at the end of the book as she was when the story began. Owen was more interesting, and I enjoyed his part of the story.

I did not enjoy how there would be conversations about things that would have been more fun to see. I also felt like there were so many people saying ‘You’re perfect for each other’ but I didn’t really see it.

Overall, this was well-written and sweet. I would recommend it to anyone who loves silly historical adventures with some romance.

Meeting Her Match by Jen Turano is the third book in The Matchmakers Series, which, like all of her books, can be read as a standalone. This light-hearted story follows Camilla Pierpont, self-proclaimed spinster and matchmaker of the New York 400. We first meet Mr. Owen Chesterfield, a member of the Wheeling elite, who traveled to the Hudson River Valley, determined to convince Camilla to take his sister Luella in hand.

Turano takes her readers on an exciting adventure to the quaint town of Wheeling in Almost Heaven, West Virginia, during the Gilded Age. Once there, we meet Owen’s delightful Meemaw and Great-Aunt Elma, who are convinced that Camilla and Owen are perfect for each other. How they go about proving that they are right to Camilla and Owen will have you laughing out loud.

As always, Jen Turano penned a fun read full of witty banter, with laugh-out-loud shenanigans by her characters, and action scenes that keep one riveted to their seat. Once you read one of Turano’s books, you will discover why they call her the best and funniest inspirational voice in historical Christian fiction.

Meeting Her Match was a great ending to a fun series, and I cannot recommend this delightful fun light-hearted story or series enough!

A complimentary copy of this book was provided by Bethany House via Net Galley through Interviews & Reviews. I was not obligated to write a favorable review, and all opinions are my own.

I think it's safe to say I laughed and swooned my entire way through this book!!!

"Why are you smiling at me?"
"I normally make it a practice to smile at guests."
"But the smile you're currently wearing isn't what I'd consider a pleasant one..."

This is an unexpected meet-cute + enemies to more + forced proximity + fake engagement goldmine with the best banter and main character (and even side characters, for that matter!) interactions I may have ever read. I feel like the Chesterfield family would totally approve of me saying this book is a total hoot!

Owen and his family were such comic relief that this book was 100% entertaining and enjoyable from start to finish. Owen regularly (and unintentionally) puts his foot in his mouth and Camilla has no problem teaching him about proper manners. When I tell you that every scene in this book is so solid, I mean it. I can't think of a better book to put any reader in a great mood!

I definitely think that this could be read as a stand alone, but having read all of the books in this series I highly recommend them all!!

Warning: this book may make you crave apple pie ;)

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Content: attempted kidnapping, guns/shooting (most situations are completely comical and highly entertaining), great family themes, romance-kisses only.

I love Jen Turano’s stories. I have read all of them and enjoyed majority of them. However, Meeting Her Match was different than her previous series. It does fit well into her Matchmaking series. A lot of dialogue explaining the feelings and what has occurred in the past to convince Camila to help Owen’s sister become proper enough to enter society and be presented into the Four Hundred Society. There were funny moments with a pig, a dog, and a cat. There were funny moments with whitewashing a fence. I did enjoy the cast of characters in Owen's families. With their help, Camilia learned that what others think of you is not that important as what you think of yourself. Near the end of the novel, the action did pick up, and became more of what I expected from Turano’s stories. Speaking of the romance, Owen and Camila did not like each other and pretended to be betrothed to help his sister, but then of course, sparks began to fly, and the romance was off to the races. Overall, Meeting Her Match by Jen Turano captured the wild wealthy world of West Virginia and brought into falling literally into the world for the Four Hundred in New York City. I can’t wait to read her next series.

I received a complimentary copy of Meeting Her Match by Jen Turano from Bethany House Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

This is the final book in Jen Turano's "The Matchmakers" series, and she has saved the best for last, in my opinion. It's laced with her trademark zany humor, as Camilla and Owen deal with Owen's tomboy sister, gun-toting Meemaw and Great-Aunt Elma, a mysterious abduction plot, a rambunctious love-struck pig, and SO MUCH MATCH-MAKING! It's a wonderful romp with a smile on every page.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Fast-paced, action packed antics of a most entertaining sort. As always, Jen Turano pens a delightful, romantic tale that's hard to put down. Indeed, I stayed up far too late reading about 75% last night and gleefully finishing the rest today.
Foisting the heroine-matchmaker into the unknown land of West Virginia opened an entire new world to Camilla. Adding a misunderstood gentleman, Owen Chesterfield, in the mix further expands her horizons.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series!
Thanks to the author for an advanced eVersion which was provided without expectation or compensation.

Now this is the third book in this series, they do have recurring characters, but can be read alone.

This was a fun read for me, like a warm hug, and yet, full of chuckles!

We are given some nefarious characters along with some warm hearted, very lovable, relatives. We see an heiress whitewashing a fence, all the while she is avoiding getting the recipe!

Yes, love is in the air, and there seem to be several that have felt the spark, making this such a fun read!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.

I’m a huge fan of Jen Taranto. I discovered her books when I read the first book in this series, A MATCH IN THE MAKING. It was so fun and light, and I immediately searched for more books Turano had written.

I was so glad I did! Not only does this book tie into the MATCHMAKING series, but I also saw characters from her BLEEKER STREET AGENCY series. Not only was it a fun surprise, but I loved how everything tied together. Overall, you don’t have to read any of the other books the author has written, but if you have, you will see some familiar faces.

Now, to talk about this book. It was so fun! It begins with a BANG and an attempted kidnapping. As a result, Camilla, a self-proclaimed spinster and ex-matchmaker (though she still gets pulled into the game) runs away to West Virginia to hide from any dangers figures in New York.

The setting for this book was a fun change from the setting of the other two books in the series, New York Society’s 400. Though this was a real group of people (Turano has done her research!) it almost acted as a setting. The way the people acted, the choices they made, and how the female MCs didn’t fit in with everyone else was all affected by their environment: high society. But in this book, a girl that has done well in the upper echelon is thrown into a close-knit small town/society. I loved seeing how she navigated it so well. She took everything in stride, and it made her relatable and likable. She might be my favorite MC in this series so far!

Onto the love interest! I might have a particularly soft spot for him because he reminded me of my husband, but he was so sweet. He does NOT do well when it comes to women, and he doesn’t understand them in the slightest. His faux pas with the feminine set made how much he cared for Camilla and wanted to be part of her life by the end of the book all the sweeter. And that eventual kiss was worth it!

I cannot recommend this book or series enough! It was so good and fun. There’s a reason they call her the one of the funniest voices in inspirational fiction. The book was light and sweet and oh, so enjoyable. I’m happy to add this book to my collection!

Jen Turano is one of my favorite historical fiction romance writers. I love her writing style and humor incorporated into all her books, I literally do laugh out loud and find myself smiling while reading. This book is everything you expect in one of her books and more. This is book three in the Matchmaker series, you do not have to read them all to understand this book but it is helpful and they are amazing reads as well.
Miss Camilla Pierpont whom we met in previous books has such quick wit and spunky personality. Mr. Owen Chesterfield is really not sure what to make of her. I love their first encounter all the way through. This author has a great sense of humor, does a great job at developing her characters and painting a great picture. I always look forward to reading any books she writes.
I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Miss Camilla Pierpont is a well known matchmaker and a member of the New York Four Hundred. She has vowed to never marry after a heartbreak during her debut years ago. Owen Chesterfield is determined to have Camilla help his sister become a refined lady. Camilla is having none of it, until she is put in a position where she needs to get out of town.

Turano's characters were quirky and somewhat humorous. The story was slow moving but Turano's trademark humor and interesting situations kept the story moving.

This was another fun, fish out of water romance from Jen Turano. In this one she takes a Gilded Age NY 400 heiress and sends her to Wheeling, West Virginia. There Camilla is supposed to help turn Owen's sister into a star that society will welcome back in. The pages are filled with Jen's trademark humor, but also loving attention to detail about Wheeling. I had no idea Wheeling had such high society in its hay day or that it became something of an escape for pockets of the NYC elite. This was another fun read that I enjoyed from one of my go-to authors.

Meeting Her Match
by Jen Turano
Pub Date: July 16, 2024
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Miss Camilla Pierpont, a renowned matchmaker and influential member of the New York Four Hundred, has vowed never to marry after suffering a devastating heartbreak during her debut years ago. However, when she is nearly abducted along the Hudson River, she finds herself rescued by an annoyingly outspoken, albeit fascinating, gentleman who challenges her in a manner she wasn't expecting.
For me this was a no go.
It was a very bland story with a lot of talking. Most of the scenes were multiple characters talking about interesting things that happened in the past. I'd prefer to see the scenes where these things happened rather than getting sometimes confusing summaries of what happened.
I am so glad this was not my first Turano novel or it may have been my last
I cannot recommend this one.

Meeting Her Match, the third installment in Jen Turano's Matchmakers series, has garnered a spectrum of opinions from readers, and count me among those who found themselves thoroughly engaged with the narrative. Admittedly I realized that we were a fourth of the way into the story before she makes it to Owen’s home. But it didn’t matter to me because I was enjoying the journey of the characters. At no time did I want to put the book down.

Jen has a talent for putting her characters in amusing situations. I found the recipe card adventures fun. And that was just one of many situations Jen created for the characters.
Despite the abundance of characters, Turano expertly distinguishes each one, making it effortless to keep track of them all.
I have read the other books in the series and enjoyed them all. However this can be read as a stand alone.
I recommend Meeting Her Match and felt that it was a great escape.

While this is not my favorite of Jen Turano's work, it is nonetheless a supremely enjoyable read. As always, Turano's characters are charming, and the dialogue is often funny. My minor complaint is that some of the situations feel too forced, and I found myself questioning whether that would really happen, which took away from my enjoyment, although only slightly. As long as you can suspend disbelief a little bit and just enjoy the story for what it is, this is certainly a fun read guaranteed to lift your mood.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance e-galley; all opinions in this review are 100% my own.

"Meeting Her Match" is a romance set in 1889 in Hudson River Valley. I find it odd that a matchmaker that tries to match people who share interests finds her match with a man that she has nothing in common with. Except they danced well together. For half the book, he constantly offended her, though it's from ignorance and he modified his behavior when he was told it's offensive. Then, suddenly, they liked each other. He did rescue her several times, so maybe that's it.

By the end, it felt like the author thought if she had the characters repeat enough times what a perfect match they were then the readers wouldn't question it. Owen's relative said that your perfect match will turn you on when you kiss (and so encouraged this test), and another relative said Camilla was fated to marry into the family if she touched a certain recipe card, which eventually happened. I understand Camilla liked the more relaxed society in his hometown and made friends there, but none of these things seem like a good reason to marry someone.

Anyway, this was a very bland story with a lot of talking. Most of the scenes were multiple characters talking about interesting things that happened in the past. I'd prefer to see the scenes where these things happened rather than getting sometimes confusing summaries of what happened. For example, Camilla painted a fence but put the paint on a fence post high enough that when it fell off it drenched her head to toe. Why would she do this as she'd need the paint where she could easily dip her brush in it even if she's foolish enough to think a tall fencepost is a stable place to put a bucket? We'll never know because we never got her viewpoint of the event.

The story wasn't about Camilla teaching Owen's sister refined manners and fashion. Half the book pasted before Camilla even met the sister. Then we skipped ahead by three weeks and were told that the last weeks were spent teaching her and she's fitting in now. There was no sex or bad language.

When I read this book, I was having the worst day... Despite this, the book made me laugh, smile and coaxed me from my bad mood. I love Jen Turano's work and I would consider this one of her best (hard to choose though, they are all great!).

Her characters are well written, interesting, quirky and strong. The situations that they find themselves in like the one with the raccoons, just make you want to laugh out loud. Will be buying it for the library and recommending it on.
