This book was the best of all worlds--a rom-com that is also historical. Turano's books are always a fun romp. This one was no exception. Even though it is third in the series, it works perfectly as a stand-alone too. I always enjoy when the characters think they aren't interested in romance and won't fall in love, since that once happened to me. Of course, it never turns out that way because love has a mind of its own. Highly recommend this book.
Camilla has come a long way since the heartbreak of her debut year, vowing to never marry, she is well respected as a friend and matchmaker among the elite four hundred. After an attempted kidnapping, she agrees to help the sister of Mr. Owen Chesterfield repair her damaged reputation, travelling from New York to West Virginia.
A charming historical rom-com, with a full cast of colorful characters, and hilarious encounters with animals of all kinds. I loved the hilarious situational comedy, and humorous miscommunications. I loved the characters, and the grandmother's scheming and matchmaking of her own.
Such a fun read from beginning to end, with amazing characters, and a riveting plot. I had no trouble keeping the characters straight, even though there were quite a few, the author does a great job of distinguishing them quickly and memorably.
Overall, a wonderful read, with great rapport and chemistry between the characters. Highly enjoyable!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Turano is one of my favorite authors. I wonder how she can create another set of unique characters yet she does it every time. The people made this book for me. I thought Owen’s family were hilarious and wonderful and I appreciated that Camilla, a member of the 400, could see their qualities.
There are several romances going on and Owen is so protective of all the women in his family that he almost neglects his own possibility for love. I liked the witty banter between him and Camilla.
I enjoyed this series a lot. I’d highly recommend it.
My favorite book in the Matchmaker series! It's just one of those feel good, keeps you laughing romances than can boost any mood your in. I loved the banter, the humor and the characters. One of my favorite things to read about are nosy neighbors, and this book had them all! There was so much matchmaking in this book, I think I need this character to come over to my house for a little while.
I could easily see myself re-reading this book for a mood boost or if I'm in a reading slump. This book had already graced my favorites' shelf.
*thank you to Bethany House and #netgalley for a complimentary copy of this book to read. All thoughts are my own.
I used to LOVE these books. The dialogue and banter was great and the storylines intriguing. I hate to say it, but think I've outgrown this author. 😣
There's plenty of bantering dialogue, however, there are so many asides tucked into each sentence, I found it hard to follow and ended up rereading paragraphs to make sure I understood correctly.
The characters are fun and Owen's family is endearing. The side romances got me more excited than the main couple.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.
Meeting Her Match, by Jen Turano, is the third book in The Matchmakers series. This sweet historical romance is a truly delightful novel. Page after page, it is altogether charming, humorous, and surprising. It is well-written and exceedingly entertaining. Filled with unforgettable characters and plenty of clever dialogue, this novel is wholly endearing from beginning to end.
In Meeting Her Match, as in her other novels, one of Jen Turano’s gifts as a writer, is her imaginative talent for giving her characters the most astonishing conversations and placing them in humorously unpredictable circumstances. These circumstances often enable the characters to respond in unusual ways which helps to cultivate storylines that are frequently funny and always memorable. The characters themselves are genuinely engaging and sympathetic, and their winsome traits are refreshing. As they persevere through a variety of troublesome situations, their stories grow more meaningful and inspiring.
Meeting Her Match is made quite special through Ms. Turano’s exemplary use of witty dialogue and unique characters. Plenty of moments of comedy, intrigue, and romance make this book very appealing. This novel offers an uplifting story of family, community, and unexpected opportunities. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I eagerly recommend it.
*I was given a copy of this book from the publisher/author. A review was not required. The review I have written is voluntary and contains opinions that are entirely my own.
I loved this story. Whenever I need a fun light hearted book, I pick up a Book by Jen Turano. The down to earth banter between Owen and Camilla made me smile. Meemaw and Luella along with several other characters were really fun to get to know. Camilla keeps matching up couples and its entertaining to watch all while oblivious to her own match.
I'm excited for the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
A clean romance set in 1800s about a beautiful socialite, self-proclaimed spinster-turned-matchmatcher with a spunky attitude that gets abducted.
Not your typical damsel in distress.
And not the typical hero - this one happens to be wealthy, brawny, and from the backwoods of West Virginia.
It was good. It was ok.
The premise and beginning were cute and made me smile at times, but the storyline didn't keep my attention. The funniest chapter to me was at the very end when family members are wayyy too nosy about a romantic interaction.
I really expected to fall head-over-heels in love with this series. I've heard people gushing about it and was ready for the humor. For some reason, I wasn't amused like I thought I would be and found this book and the whole series to be too wordy in every scenario.
I appreciate the clean romance and that it was free from profanity.
when the romance kicks off with the heroine mistaking the hero as her would-be abductor, i know it's going to be a good one...
camilla pierpont has been a recurring character in the matchmakers series, and it's finally time for her to "meet her match." of course, owen chesterfield stumbles into her life at the exact wrong time and makes a disastrous first impression. still, camilla can't turn down his request to help his sister with her social presence and reputation—and off they go to west virginia.
her new-york sensibilities are put to quite the test with owen's family, and many hilarious moments ensue in the (endearing) clash of cultures: chores to do, animals to face, family members to meet (and an apple pie recipe to avoid), a sister to reform—and some very real danger to escape. every step of this story makes it quite the adventure, and i so enjoyed all the fun of this opposites-attract romance.
it is a delight to see camilla and owen, unlikely as their pairing may seem, find each other amidst the chaos around them. their banter is always entertaining, and i just found it so easy to root for them.
i couldn't help smiling the whole way through jen turano's meeting her match. it makes a perfect series conclusion with its romance and humor, adventure and danger, heart and faith. readers of historical romance (and rom-coms) are sure to have as much fun with this one as i did.
i received a complimentary copy from the publisher. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.
considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only
—faith: mentions of God, church, and the bible
—content: attempted abduction, mentions of guns, violence, asylums, and drugging
This book was a delight to read. I caught myself smiling often, imagining the ridiculous situations the main characters kept finding themselves in. I actually laughed out loud several times. Turano is one of the best, and I don’t say that lightly. There aren’t many authors that can claim to have made me laugh out loud, and she does it every time. Meeting Her Match is the third book in The Matchmakers series, and I was anxious to read Camilla’s story! I couldn’t imagine just how much I was going to enjoy the journey. Owen and his family are truly one of a kind. Their antics were so unpredictable and I loved that I couldn’t guess what would happen next. Owen and Camilla have such fun chemistry, and are from completely different worlds. If you enjoy Historical Romance with a bit of suspense thrown in, you will love this book. During my work day I found myself thinking about the characters, and counting down the hours until I could dig in to the story again. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers. I was in no way forced to post a positive review, and all opinions are my own.
A lovely laughing out loud story to keep you company as well as any friend. Wonderfully endearing characters. Camilla has taken on more than she realized when she agrees to help Owen. After an attempted kidnapping she travels to his home in Virginia and his not-so-formal family. A lady of the Four Hundred meets a family still in touch with its roots, and learns a bit along the way. Fabulous read!!
I received this book free from the author, publisher and NetGalley book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Camilla Pierpont, well-known matchmaker for New York's elite Four Hundred, has vowed never to marry after a disastrous debut season years ago, which left her heartbroken over an English lord. But when she is nearly abducted by a band of thugs, and rescued by Owen Chesterfield, he talks her into traveling with him back to his hometown of Wheeling, West Virginia, to help his sister (considered a "ragamuffin,") Luella become a proper lady.
This was a light-hearted fish-out-of-water romance set during the Gilded Age with lots of witty banter between Camilla and Owen. The matchups between the charming secondary characters were enjoyable as well.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own
Thank you to the publisher for this book.
I enjoyed every page of this book. It is a hysterical fun, relaxing read.
I love romance, but this one was totally different from the typical romance novel.
The characters, Camilla and Owen, are unique. You must read this book and get to know them. The Owen's family is all so funny, and the story is one you will throughly enjoy. I promise!
I don't hesitate to highly recommend this book.
I absolutely enjoy the writing voice of Jen Turano. The story was whimsical and light hearted. I loved the cadence of the story, how different plot points of the story unfolded. This was classic Jen Turano with all the fun and funny antics or situations the characters get themselves into. The characters were charming and lovable. I appreciated the underlying message. The whole story thoughtful and insightful. The plot really did fit the title and it was such a fun read. This is part of a series but could be read as a stand alone. A couple of charcters from a previous book make a cameo but doesn't distract or confuse the current story. Jen Turano books & this title are on the definite re-read list.
Meeting Her Match is the third and final installment in an extremely fun series. Finally, Camilla, matchmaker extraordinaire, gets her own happily ever after. Of course, that doesn’t happen simply, or without a lot of witty repartée.
Camilla vowed never to marry after her heart was smashed by a British cad looking to add money to bankroll his aristocratic lifestyle. Although older and able to understand what happened, Camilla is still determined to never all in love. Then she collides with Owen Chesterfield who needs her elite skills as a member of the New York Four Hundred, to restore his tomboy sister’s reputation.
Needing to get out of New York after a failed abduction, Camilla travels to West Virginia where a whole different set of societal rules keep her on her elegant toes. With some of the older mountain folk unimpressed by Camilla’s genteel ways, there’s scope for all sorts of misadventure and Turano has a field day with the endless possibilities.
I enjoyed the humor, and the banter, and the unpredictable turns of the plot. Most of all, I loved the tender love stories, all bringing different types of healing to the couples involved. This is a highly fitting end to what’s been a brilliant series.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley. The enjoyment is all my own.
I started reading this book in ebook form but finished with audio. I have to say this book was filled with so much humor and many laugh out loud moments. The antics and situations the characters find themselves in were believable, funny and relatable. The author did an excellent job bringing a socialite to the country life of West Virginia. I enjoyed the narrator chosen as well. This was another good book in the matchmaker series. I highly recommend it!
West Virginia isn't quite ready for her....
I always need to carve out a block of time whenever I read a Jen Turano book. I know that I am in for a real treat and some very delightful reading, which, in turn means that I won't be able to put it down. I've enjoyed The Matchmakers series from the start so I definitely had to block out some time for just me and Meeting Her Match...
As most eagerly anticipated, Meeting Her Match was everything that I had hoped for and everything that I've come to expect from The Matchmakers series and Jen Turano. I loved every minute of the tale and found myself by turns laughing out loud, shaking my head, and falling in love with the characters – though there were certain ones that I wished to give a well deserved sock in the nose. Once again, the four-legged and furry characters captured my heart – and my funny bone.
There is absolutely nothing that you can't love about Meeting Her Match and I highly recommend it, the rest of The Matchmakers series, and any book by Jen Turano. They always make you laugh, leave you feeling good about having read them, and knowing that you can't wait until the next one. So, dive into the best blend of historical romance and romantic comedy that you can find....

Meeting Her Match by Jen Turano is the third book in The Matchmakers Series and a definite must read if you love inspirational historical romance with a lot of chaotic mishaps, tons of fun with animals and witty banter.
Owen Chesterfield travels to the Hudson River Valley hoping to talk Miss Camilla Pierpont to take on his sister in order to help her be socially acceptable.
After almost being abducted Camilla agrees to Owen's proposition and travels with him to West Virginia to meet his family and to take his sister under her care and tutelage.
What Camilla is most surprised about is how charming she finds Owen, Owen's family and his small hometown, but danger still lurks in wait and has the potential to derange her and Owen's perfect match.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
MEETING HER MATCH is the third novel in The Matchmakers series by JEN TURANO, but it can easily stand alone. I enjoy this author’s humour and her “mostly” lovable characters. The book is also exciting with the threat of abduction, a not so friendly bear, a large spoilt pig and some gun toting mamas!
Camilla Pierpont, a member of the elite NewYork 400 and a former matchmaker, is talked into moving to Wheeling West Virginia with Owen Chesterfield in order to turn his ragamuffin sister Luella into a lady in appreciation for his having saved her from abduction. It is there that the former matchmaker, who has lived a lonely life as an only child of wealthy parents, finds herself not only indulging in matchmaking again but embraced by Owen’s large and delightful family ……
This is a most enjoyable “fun” read and one I highly recommend.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
Jen Turano's books are always such fun to read. You get your witty banter and fun adventures every single time! It was great to finally get Camilla's love story. I really liked Owen and laughed when he kept putting his foot in his mouth. Delightful couple and made for a great day reading/listening to the audio book.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.
