Good fun read, I couldn't put it down. Great plot, unexpected twist. Highly recommend. All books by Freida McFadden rock.

Are you sure this was actually Frieda McFadden bc this book was horrible. If this was the first book I read of hers I would be disappointed.

One by One by Freida McFadden is a fast-paced psychological thriller that keeps readers on edge with its claustrophobic setting and a string of chilling twists. The suspense builds steadily as secrets unravel among a group of stranded coworkers, leading to a shocking and satisfying conclusion.

This is a story about a couples vacation.., what could go wrong?

If you enjoy the author, you will probably enjoy this one. It hits the same notes all of her books seem to, and it’s a quick one sitting read. That being said, I enjoyed the setting! I love an isolated thriller with a man vs wild element, and it definitely added a layer to the narrative.

Thank you so much Poisoned Pen Press for the eARC

Another solid read by this author--even though all her books have the same formula it is still try to guess the twists along the way. Thank you @netgalley for the ARC and chance to review.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book! At this time I will not be reading or reviewing. I will update if I do read in the future!

3,5 ⭐️ Not one of my author's favorites, but not the worst either!

I wasn't completely hooked throughout the story, but I was certainly surprised by the mix of plot twists at the end (as the author has made us used to) ✌🏼

I feel like Freida McFadden is the queen of creating bingeable books. I read this - and several other of her books - in one sitting.

The writing is fast-paced and engaging, with short chapters that keep the reader hooked. The alternating perspectives add depth to the story, allowing readers to see the events unfold from multiple viewpoints. The tension builds steadily as the group members become increasingly paranoid and distrustful of one another.

However, I found the character development a little bit on the weaker side. The characters are often described as one-dimensional, with motivations that feel underdeveloped. This one was not my favorite of hers.

Freida did it again. I had this one figured out. I knew exactly who it was. I knew exactly why.

No, again, I didn’t. All the way to the last chapter I was second guessing every assumption I thought I had.

This woman will never let me win the game of figuring it out.

Hands down BEST Freida book ever. Whew. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. I mean anything in the woods in the middle of no where is creepy, but Freida realllllly hit a home run with this one!

3.5 stars! as an avid freida reader this book was very intriguing but was definitely not one of my favorites. the twist was a little bit too predictable and claire (the main character) got on my nerves from time to time, but it was still a great read.

thank you netgalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was my second Freida McFadden book and I enjoyed it, Defiantly need to read more!

One by one they will get what they deserve..

This was a fast paced and twisty thriller. This is a duel POV from one of the six characters, Claire and an annoyomous character out of the six. You are unsure who it is and leaves you guessing throughout to be revealed at the end. I have to be honest I kinda did guess the twist and who the anonymous voice was but I still enjoyed it - Think this just means I watch far to many thrillers 🫣🤣
Was this story unrealistic? yes it was, but was it fun and an easy read? yes 🙌🏼

Both One by One and The Boyfriend are two thrillers I couldn't put down and read quite quickly, so I'm looking forward to what Frieda book I choose next.

Will/have posted on Goodreads, Fabel, Instagram

Wow! Not surprising but Freida does it again with having me think I know what the plot twist is going to be, but being absolutely wrong. One by One had me hooked from being to end & the epilogue, as always, left me with my jaw on the floor. Incredible!

Thank you Net Galley & Poisoned Pen Press for my copy of One by One in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the copy in return for an honest review!👏🏼

Read if you like:
- Popcorn thrillers
- Short chapters
- Unreliable Narrators
- Secluded Locations

What a cat and mouse thriller this was! This was actually enjoyable and not like other Freida books (don't hate, it's my opinion). The writing was better! I liked the creepy, secluded location and the unreliable narrators. I did want more detail?? I feel like this was short in some parts and it felt flat. Some of the things these characters did were just unrealistic, unlikeable, and dumb. Ive noticed that this is a common theme in these authors books so I just decided to ignore that part lol If you can get past that and enjoy a quick popcorn thriller: check out!

I found One by One very suspenseful and easy to follow, even with many characters and surprises. The setting felt very intense — being stuck in a snowy cabin with no escape and people disappearing one by one was scary and exciting. I kept wanting to know what happens next.

Some parts were really shocking in a good way, but I have to be honest — the big twist didn’t work for me. It felt a little too much, like it didn’t fit the rest of the story. I was hoping for something different, maybe more realistic. Still, I appreciate the fast pace and the tension. This book kept me reading, even late at night.

One by One is an easy and fun thriller that will have you turning pages until the very end. The author did a great job writing this one and all of the characters were good in it. This will keep you guessing until the very end. I liked the setting of this book a lot which took place in the woods. Overall, this is one that I highly enjoyed reading and would recommend to any reader who loves thrillers. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this read in exchange of my honest review of One by One by Freida McFadden.

Actual Rating: 3.5⭐

One by One is a gripping psychological thriller with a straightforward storyline that kept me on the edge of my seat right from the beginning!

The narrative is presented through dual POV—Claire, the main character, and the killer.
The addition of the killer's perspective is a great touch, adding a layer of intrigue as I tried to uncover the killer’s identity and motives behind the murders.

While I didn't find the characters particularly likable, I was captivated by their fates as disaster unfolded. Each character harbors secrets and hidden motives, creating an engaging challenge in determining the culprit.

Overall, this is an enjoyable and fast-paced psychological thriller, filled with shocking and unexpected twists near the end.
Recommended for readers who are drawn to unraveling secrets in survival scenarios and love stories packed with surprising turns!

⚠️ 𝐓𝐖: murder, blood, death, infidelity, gun violence, toxic relationship, brief mention of animal death, child abuse, bullying, suicide, body shaming

"One by One" by Freida McFadden is a psychological thriller that follows three couples—Claire and Noah, Jack and Michelle, and Lindsay and Warner—on a week-long retreat to a remote inn. Their journey becomes dangerous when their minivan breaks down on a remote dirt road, leaving them to hike through thick forest without cell service. As the group gets more and more lost, mysteriously disappearing members start to show up, setting off a tense fight for survival.

The story jumps back and forth between Claire's point of view and that of a character whose identity is kept secret until the very end. This structure adds layers of suspense and mystery, making it hard for readers to guess what each character is really like. Overall, "One by One" is a thrilling story that has both psychological tension and survival elements. I was hooked by the plot twists and they kept me wanting more.
