While this one went off the rails a bit, I was entertained throughout the book. Freida McFadden's books are always the type of popcorn thrillers that keep me flipping pages, and this one was no exception.

3.5/5
This book was really enjoyable, but it was predictable. I knew exactly what was happening as soon as someone "died" in the book. But it was so quick paced and fun that I kept reading anyway. It reminds me of the scream movies where the characters run up the stairs when people are running after them. They did all the wrong things. Kinda funny honestly.

classic Freida Mcfadden! she knows how to keep a reader’s interest. Although there were several characters i did not like profusely as much as I hate to say it, the suspense kept me on my toes and the plot twist left me gasping! i want to read freida mcfadden’s shopping list now

I really wanted to like this one but it just felt so unrealistic. I didn't care much for any of the characters and the terrible lies they all told. They made terrible decisions. There was one good twist but overall I didn't really enjoy this.

This was exciting and unexpected! I tried really hard to figure things out but was still surprised by the twists!

This book is a classic Freida McFadden, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Once again, it’s a completely forgettable read. The characters? Developed just enough to keep the plot moving, but nothing more. I forgot them the moment I finished the book. The unhinged personalities and relationship dynamics were just enough to serve the plot, and that’s about it. There was a tiny glimpse into one character’s background, but with the pace this author churns out books, who has time for depth, right? Very meh. But will I read another one of her novels? Sigh, probably.

McFadden does it again. The story, the characters, the twists. Immediately engaging. Easily a book to finish in one sitting

One by One follows the story of six friends: Claire, Noah, Michelle, Jack, Lindsay and Warner, who are going on holiday to an inn in the woods. The group are all travelling together in Claire's minivan which breaks down leaving them to carry on, on foot to reach the inn. The group become lost in the wilderness and begin to get taken out one by one.
This is the fifth Freida McFadden book I have read and as always with her books, it was quick to fly through (I read the entire book in less than 24 hours) and very easy to read. The premise, although fairly unoriginal, was still fun and I enjoyed the build up of tension each time a member of the group would go off on their own or disappear. I thought that the anonymous chapters written by the killer were done really well as it cast doubt on a different character each time and keeps you guessing. I enjoyed the plot twist at the end and definitely didn't see it coming.
The reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is due to the characters as they all seemed to only have one defining personality trait for example Michelle was always working or talking about work and Claire loves her children. I wish the characters had been more fleshed out and realistic as I found it hard to connect to these caricatures so felt very little when they were killed off.
Overall this was an entertaining, fast-paced read and the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first Freida McFadden book and I’m excited to read more of her books. I read this in one sitting and didn’t want to put it down. I thought the ending was unexpected, which made it better. I definitely recommend this book to another who wants to read a short thriller book!

Freida, we met again! One by One is a book you can binge read in one sitting! Just when you think you have it all figured out, BAM! Freida throws in a twist! Yes, they can be so far fetched but still makes for a great unhinged Freida McFadden book.
If you love a book that’s:
-Addictive
-Fast Paced
-Can’t put down
-Suspenseful
-Binge worthy
Then this is the book for you!! 4 stars! Thank you to the publisher for this ARC to read through NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts. I highly recommend all of Freida’s books!

What I liked about this book:
1. It was an interesting premise.
2. It was fast paced/short and easy to read!
What I wished was different:
1. That the premise was expanded in a more thoughtful way - there were good twists and turns but for such a short book - there was a lot of redundancy.
2. Some of the characters are more developed than others and it would have been more interesting to me if they were a little more balanced.
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press via Net Galley for providing a digital ARC.

This has been the worst book I've read by Freida McFadden and probably the worst version on Ten Little Indians.

In true Frieda fashion: she fooled me! I had so many thoughts on who it could be and I kept changing my mind, but of course she got me in the end. As always, so well written and really goes deep into the mystery aspect of it!

Omg!!!!! Can’t believe I got this new book by Frida she is my absolute favorite for psychological thrillers I recommend her books to anybody that is in a reading slump she will bring u back 10/10 as always!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone who is new to the thriller genre and wants to read something to help start them off. Honestly any of McFadden’s books are great for that purpose. Although this wasn’t my favorite thriller, I still had a good time and I enjoyed the twists at the end.
Thank you so much to Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

I always call Freida's books my "palette cleaners" because they are so much fun without being too heavy. One By One was a crazy, intense ride! I honestly did not know where it was going to go. I hated almost all of the characters, but in the best way possible. And that ending! Ahh!! I absolutely loved this book!

I like how fast her books are but I always have trouble with her endings. They are too out of nowhere. I like a little more build up. I did really appreciate the identity of the anonymous narrator; that storyline was the one that kept me guessing.

I always enjoy McFadden’s books, due to the fast pace and twists throughout them. This one is no exception, although I did have a little difficulty understanding where the story was going at times. Thank you NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for a chance to read and review.

Good storyline.. trying to figure out where the story was going & who was doing what, was well done. Even though I had hints of what was going on, I never was able to see the ending coming (per usual, Freida!). The ending was decent, the epilogue added more complex layers and was also kind of disappointing. 4 stars since I wanted to keep reading though!
