4/5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Freida McFadden for allowing me to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed this book. So far, I have not found a Freida McFadden book I have not enjoyed. This was not my favorite of hers, but it was still really enjoyable. The characters are well written and the plotline is interesting from the beginning to the end. I really enjoyed all the twists throughout it.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Freida McFadden's works.

Six people, with various relationships to each other, head off for a long weekend to a remote inn to destress. The tense mood in the car becomes worse when the minivan overheats on a back road and dies: no cell phone tower to call for help, a print out map to the inn that seems rather inadequate and that leads to the hike from hell.
The story is told from two points of view: Claire, one of the group and anonymous, who is not named till late in the story.
They learn very soon into this hike to the inn that they are ill prepared for this trek and become lost very quickly and for this reader, lost for too long in the book. In spite of all the obstacles they encountered: poisonous berries, animal markings, blood at every turn, I wanted them to stop walking in circles.
That said, when they DID stop circling, is when the book took a giant step forward and the thrills and twists were constant. There were many moments I was convinced who the source of the mania was, only to be redirected on the next page.
A thrill and a cliffhanger right up to the final sentence.

If I want a twisty, fast-paced thriller- I know a Freida McFadden title is always the way to go. This is the story of 3 couples who are going on a weeklong hiking trip. However, their van breaks down on the way to their hotel and they have zero cell service in the remote woods. They have to hike to their hotel and they are easily lost in the deep, confusing forest, and one by one, they are losing members of their party. This one is TWISTY with a capital T and I was on the edge of my seat. It had a really shocking twist that I didn't see coming. I couldn't put it down!

Set in the woods of Colorado, One by One is a dual narration between the main character, Claire, and a mystery narrator. The link between the two develops as Claire’s group of friends is lost in the woods.. but the real connection will throw you for a loop. This was a fun, fast thriller that kept me guessing.

Freida never disappoints me. She manages to steer you wrong every time you think you have something figured out. As usual I was surprised by who the culprit was. This book kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat the entire time.

This thrilling novel plunges Claire Matchett and her friends into a harrowing survival scenario. What was supposed to be a rejuvenating vacation turns into a nightmare when Claire's minivan breaks down on a remote dirt road. Stranded without cell reception, the group decides to hike to their hotel but quickly becomes hopelessly lost in the dense woods.

As they struggle to find their way, the situation turns deadly. One by one, members of the group are mysteriously struck down. The tension mounts as they wonder if a wild animal is hunting them or if the threat comes from within their own group.

The story is a gripping tale of survival, filled with suspense and unexpected twists.

I would read Freidas grocery list if it was published. Is there anything this woman writes that isn't gold? I was rooting for Claire and I was completely shocked by the ending. This was actually the first book of hers I had ever written and shortly after I consumed nearly all of them. The mind games that she plays on you are different each time.

I FLEW through this book. I was absolutely not expecting to like this book as much as I did, but Freida never disappoints. I'm pretty sure I went through every possibility of "this is who is behind it" and I STILL GOT IT WRONG because there are SO many twists. And the last chapter was *chefs kiss* All of Freida's books are must-reads and this book is no different, I especially love the quick chapters and the Anonymous POV for some of them.

I adore Freida and everything she writes. I have never been let down by this author. Her writing is beautiful and makes you feel as though it’s so predictable so you get this idea in your head that you know exactly what is happening only to turn around and be flabbergasted faster at how truly wrong you were. This one i definitely was clueless on and it’s up in my top 5 books of hers now!

Read in 2 hours! She always keeps me guessing! In this book, 3 couples head out for a getaway at a remote inn in CO. Expect they never make it and one by one, each person encounters a dangerous demise. Is there a terrible monster on the loose in the woods, or is the monster one of them?

Positives:
Kept me guessing the entire time
Very readable and engaging
Great plot twists
Short chapters

Negatives:
The rare change in scenery (woods and cabin) made some of the plot repetitive

She is just one of my favorite authors and I will always read every one of her novels.
