I am FLOORED. the author has done it once again with a plot twist i would’ve never expected. no seriously I TRIED SO HARD—the entire time i was trying to figure it out and i still didn’t get it right.

Is it twisted to say that reading this was fun? Freida books are like a bag of potato chips to me… not much for nutritional value but so good that I can’t put it down. This story was far fetched and ridiculous but so entertaining - I flew through it and didn’t even predict the twist! The characters weren’t particularly likable yet the mystery of figuring out who Anonymous was and finding out what was going to happen out in the woods had me engaged the whole time.

I read this as an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher directly. This was a good story with great thrill however it kind of fell flat for me towards the middle. I felt like it was very predictable towards the end. Great for a binge read that’s quick.

What an amazing read. An obsessive page turner and a must for all psychological thriller lovers. Freida McFadden never fails to impress her readers. Loved these characters and the storyline was completely believable. I devoured this book within 24 hours, couldn’t read it fast enough, i just needed to find out the ending. Fantastic twist, loved it!!

Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.

Once again… my mind couldn’t wrap around who/what was behind all the mysteries! I GASPED at the ending, I honestly gasp at all of Freidas books. One thing I couldn’t stand tho was how everyone was so lost in the woods, I feel like they weren’t that far of the highway to be thinking about eating wild animals and cooking insects, that part seem so cheesy to me. Other than that I couldn’t put it down

I feel like readers of McFadden need a support group for each time we finish another one of her wildly insane thrillers.

Yes, I’m a “Freida Reada” and dang proud!

I also have a confession to make. I had a late start..

My first McFadden book was The Housemaid. The bond was instant. I knew I had to read every single book. I have since read both Housemaid books, The Coworker, The Teacher, Never Lie and now One By One. Although The Housemaid is still my favorite, I absolutely loved One By One.

I HATED every single one of these characters. The only one I initially loved, I ended up hating more than any of them.

Claire, Noah, Jack, Michelle, Lindsay and Warner. You are going to love to hate this crew.

You’ve heard of “locked room thrillers” what about “locked woods thriller”?

Terrifying, I know.

This book is what nightmares are made of.

Quite a few times I thought I had it all figured it. “Anonymous” seemed so obvious, I was DEAD wrong.

As I anxiously await the arrival of The Housemaid is Watching (freaking out) I think I’ll check out The Inmate.

Before I spoil anything, I’ll leave you with this little teaser and some advice….buy the book!

One by one, they will get what they deserve...

A night spent sleeping on dirt and leaves is not how Claire Matchett expected to spend her vacation.

She thought this would be a break from the stresses of work and raising her young children. A chance to repair her damaged marriage. A week of hiking and hot tubs with two other couple friends. It sounded like heaven.

Then Claire’s minivan breaks down on a lonely dirt road. With no cell reception, the group has no choice but to hike the rest of the way to their hotel. But it turns out the woods aren’t as easy to navigate as they thought.

Hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost.

And as they navigate deeper into the woods, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously one by one. Has a wild animal been hunting them? Or is the hunter one of them?

But as more time passes, one thing becomes clear:

Only one of them will return home alive.

Big thank you to Poisoned Pen Press, Freida McFadden and NetGalley! You can find my review on all major platforms as well as “Bookstagram” @thrillbythepage_

I didn’t mind this book. I did think it was a little bit predictable, but I did enjoy it. Remind me not to go in the woods.

Another great book by Freida. Definitely has the creepy cabin in the woods vibe. This book kept me guessing right up until the twist she is so known for. This book was an easy but entertaining read and I would recommend it.

I’m a huge Freida McFadden fan, all of her books I read so far are a hit for me and this one is no exception.

Honestly, how can a trip to the woods end well… I was hooked just by reading the summary.

This fast paced, full unpredictable of twists and turns thriller was such an easy and fun read! All of the characters had their own flaws but when I found out who ANONYMOUS was, I was 100% shocked, I didn’t see it coming at all. And the ending? That was evil! Freida never disappoints.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. “One by One” introduces us to Claire, a wife and mother struggling with an unhappy, failing marriage. She is about to embark on a vacation with her husband, the couple’s old friend and his wife, and Claire’s best friend and her new boyfriend. During the drive to the Inn they will be staying at, they break down and are forced to walk through the woods in search of the Inn. They quickly get lost, and all hell breaks loose as one member of the group dies and others begin to go missing. Is there a wild animal stalking them, or is the danger more human?

The story proceeds fairly predictably, and leaves the reader playing the “whodunnit” game until things are eventually revealed in the final pages (including a dark epilogue). Overall, One by One is an engaging and brisk read, though very familiar territory for thriller fans. 3.5 stars (rounded down).

I never realized when I requested this book that it was an older book from her. I have already read it back then snd throughly enjoyed it.

This was a fun thriller that of course, left you guessing who the killer was. Three couples venture off to a getaway weekend to a hotel but get lost on the way there. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, these six friends start to go missing, or die, At long last they find a cabin to take refuge, but that does not dissuade the killer. Having multiple POVs is my favorite, especially when one is that of the killer! Freida does it again with her twists, turns, and jaw drops right up to the very last page!

Claire Matchett's marriage is on the rocks, and the relaxing week away that she and her friends are planning - which sees three couples heading out to a remote getaway at a secluded resort - is unlikely to save it. Especially given Claire's secret plans...

But she is not the only one in the group who has secrets. One character, whom we are introduced to as anonymous, has decided that the majority of those in the group will not be returning home alive. But why?

This is signature Freida McFadden storytelling, which may require a suspension of disbelief, but does deliver a story that is juicy and devious in the extreme. The two things I liked best were the insights into anonymous's thought processes, and the way that things are left at the end. This one will be greatly enjoyed by her fans. I give it 3.5 stars.

I love a story that starts off fast and never stops.
This author is a master at telling tells.

A must read. All her books will not disappoint.
Ms. McFadden is now on my favorite list.

Three couples go on a vacation. While road tripping their car suddenly breaks down in the middle of nowhere and there is no cell signal. But, not to worry the hotel is not far away to they walk through the woods. But, of course they get lost. And to add to it – Claire is having an affair with her husband’s BFF who is also along on the vacation. There are “monster” claw marks in the trees, poisonous berries…

I LOVE isolated location thrillers – and I could not put this one down. Some of it was a little cheesy, but I didn’t even care. I love when I can physically feel the tension – so good.

Go get it! RECOMMEND
