I loved this book. I love ALL of her books. I would recommend any of them to anyone looking for a great book. Thanks for the opportunity to read this one.

Claire, her husband Noah, and four close friends embark on a week-long vacation at a secluded lodge. With Claire and Noah's marriage teetering on the edge, Claire intends to end things post-vacation. This trip was supposed to be a final celebration with friends before she shakes up their world. However, their journey hits a snag when their minivan breaks down, forcing them to proceed on foot. Mysteriously, they start to be picked off one by one. Who or what is behind it?
While some of their decisions in the woods were problematic for me, the story was engaging and I wanted to keep reading. Freida McFadden excels at weaving in unexpected twists, and this book is no exception. Although it may not surpass 'The Housemaid,' it's still an enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book to me in exchange for an honest review.
Typical Frieda book—fast read, not complex, twisty, and entertaining.
The details were far fetched. During some of the storyline I was like, seriously, NO ONE would make this decision, and this would never happen in real life. But you don't read a book by this author and expect the plot to be 100% believable or to read about real life. You read this author to be entertained, to escape "real life" in form of a book, to expect to be surprised by the twists and turns. And this title acomplished just that for me.
Thank you Freida for writing another one that made me feel acomplished by reading it so quickly (I am a slow reader) and also for keeping me on the edge of my seat with every turn of the page. It kept me coming back during the day for just a "few more pages" and before I knew it, the book was finished.

I am a huge fan of Freida McFadden and was so excited to read another twisty thriller. I was left feeling conflicted with this one. The beginning didn’t grip me and I had to try a few times to get into it. The pacing felt a little bit slow to start. Once it got going it flowed well and was a quick read. I enjoyed the characters and their layers, but found myself frustrated at their responses to things (asking myself “why would you do that?!”). In true Freida fashion, the plot twist left me shocked. However, at times it felt like the “why” was a bit difficult to believe. Overall, One by One was decent but failed to grip me in any memorable way.
Thank you so much to Freida McFadden and NetGalley for an ARC of this book! I enjoyed reading and having the opportunity to give my honest review.

this was my first Freida McFadden book and I can agree with everyone else with saying that her books are really fast paced and engaging.
However I felt like the characters were so unlikable and especially the protagonist, Claire was so easy to hate.
What I can say is that I love the ending, it may have been a bit predictable but still I loved it.
thank you Netgalley for the digital copy of One by one in exchange of an honest review!

This was my second Freida McFadden, and so far my favorite. The reprint of this 2020 book came out on April 2nd, and it’s an exciting, very quick read! It’s full of action and twists, and I was convinced I had it all figured out, but I didn’t! There are several huge twists at the end of the book that had me questioning everything 😅 if you figured this out I’d love to know how 😂 such an entertaining little thriller!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the digital copy of ONE BY ONE! ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

"One By One" by Frieda McFadden is a gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Set in a secluded mountain retreat, the novel follows a group of colleagues whose corporate retreat turns deadly when they become trapped by a snowstorm. As tensions rise and suspicions mount, McFadden expertly weaves together a web of secrets and betrayals, keeping readers guessing until the final twist. With sharp dialogue, a claustrophobic atmosphere, and well-drawn characters, "One By One" delivers an intense and satisfying read for fans of suspenseful mysteries.

What a twisty fast paced thriller! I really enjoy Freida McFadden books, and I think this has been my favorite so far. Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this book. Claire is heading out on a weekend trip to a remote resort with her husband and two of her best friend couples. Before they arrive their car breaks down and one by one tragedy starts to strike. I was so surprised by the twists that last up until the final page of this book. It was such a quick read and I devoured it! 5 stars from me.

Freida's writing always keeps you on the edge of your seat and this one was no different. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a rollercoaster of a ride. As the book progressed there were so many twists I couldn't keep my head straight. The final twist at the end was *chef's kiss.* I was really convinced that the person was guilty until the final few lines. I definitely did not see the culprits being revealed as the people they were. I thought this was evenly paced and moved very quickly. This was a very quick read and I really enjoyed it. Thank you to netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick, easy read but not McFadden’s best or even close. I found the plot to be quite predictable and the only plot twists that weren’t extremely obvious were totally absurd and out of nowhere.
Part of the reason that this book is so fast to get through is the amount of repetition that happens. Each of the 6 characters that we’re introduced to at the start has basically one defining trait which is hammered over and over. And for some reason, the characters also view each other as being defined by this one trait too.
The best aspect of this book was the childhood flashback chapters interspersed throughout. However, the last flashback chapter (after it’s revealed who these flashbacks are from) absolutely butchered everything. McFadden constantly uses the same plot twist in almost all her books and it’s “what if this person that has up until now been presented as the victim was actually the aggressor?”
Overall, I would say McFadden is an extremely hit-or-miss author and this one is a miss.

Super easy to read, and the perfect beach thriller (assuming you're not passing through a deserted and spooky forest on your way there). Another typically quick and suspenseful Freida McFadden book. Keep them coming, please!!

A quick and easy thriller that this author is known for. Super engaging and hard to put down, slightly predictable but perfect cosy winter reading!

This was a typical fast paced thriller that had you guessing who dun it. The author gave you plenty of suspicions about the characters and had you questioning who and why. I enjoyed the dual POV and still couldn't figure out who the anonymous POV was. It was a suspenseful story and quick read.
Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press and author Freida McFadden for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

A quick and entertaining read! This story follows three couples going on a week long trip. They get stranded in the woods and things start happening to each of them! I was not expecting that twist at the end!

i just love Freida McFadden's books. they are what i think of when i need an easy, great page turner. her mysteries are always easy to read. i also did not see this one coming. i was trying to constantly guess who did it and i had it completely wrong (and i love that she made me look so dumb, i love when its not easily predictable). everytime i see she has a new book coming out, i always try to get a copy as soon as i can!
there was one part of the book i was especially proud of myself for. the author still had not revealed the murderer and there was a line where she was in a flashback to the murder's childhood and said the word 'cooties'. now, i think with the head-shaving scene and having the dad call his child boyish nicknames, she was trying to get us to the think the murderer was a man. but i knew as soon as she wrote the word cooties, it was a woman. it just seemed like something a little boy would say about a little girl. i was really proud of myself for catching on with that one. i loved finding that little nugget of information she put in there for readers!!
Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and of course, Freida McFadden for a copy of this page turner! All opinions are honest and my own.

I don’t even know what to say about this book. It was really good. I kept thinking it was someone and i was wrong. The twist at the end caught me completely off guard. Frieda you have don’e it again! If you haven’t read this book you need to. I enjoyed it!

Another page turner from Freida McFadden. This was not my favorite book of hers and the twists seemed a little too dragged out but the main plot was very good and pages were flipping by themselves, I couldn’t wait to find out what is going on! I didn’t have many theories but I did feel that I was bamboozled with the ‘anonymous’ and it gave an interesting view of the person all throughout the book, which I enjoyed a lot. Anyone looking for a quick, easy to follow thriller should give this one a go!

The beginning of this was a bit of a rough start because of the marriage in trouble energy & was kind of depressing BUT it turned around towards the middle! The plot twist was SO UNEXPECTED I TRULY HAD NO IDEA!!
It was still a decent audiobook but not my fave of Freida’s. It didn’t give me a big “thriller” vibe so that was interesting… I still had a hard time putting it down & really wanted to see how it all ended!

"One by One" by Freida McFadden is a decent thriller with an engaging premise. The plot unfolds at a steady pace, keeping you curious about the fate of the characters. McFadden's writing style is straightforward and easy to follow, which makes for a quick read. However, the story felt somewhat predictable at times, and some characters could have been more developed. Despite these drawbacks, it’s a good pick if you’re looking for an easy and entertaining mystery.

Six friends are on their way to a hotel in the wilderness to enjoy a week of nature and relaxation, with a little hiking and fishing. Our characters are Claire and her husband Noah, Noah’s college roommate Jack and his wife Michelle, and Claire’s best friend Lindsey and her new boyfriend Warner. A couple miles from the hotel, the car breaks down. With no service, the group decides to walk the last mile or two to get help, but things don’t go as planned. Members of their group keep disappearing one by one.
I’ve only read a few books by Freida McFadden before, but this one was my favorite of them. The story is fast paced and keeps you engaged. The chapters are shorter, so I found I was flying through it. You find yourself trying to figure out who’s behind everything, but your answer is constantly changing. It’s hard to know who to trust in the book, which makes for a fun read. Overall, I would definitely recommend this one!
