This was my second Freida McFadden book and man did it hit. This is a big winner.

A group goes on a vacation, they get lost, and things happen one by one. It was a fast paced book that did a lot for me. I know that it probably could have been better, but I ate it all up.

Will definitely read more from her!!

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

I’m giving this a couple of stars because the mystery kept me curious about who was responsible until the end. However, I struggled to connect with the characters—they didn’t sit right with me from the start. Most of them were pretty unlikeable, which made it harder to feel invested in the story. That could just be a personal thing, though!

I did appreciate the fast pace, but some parts felt a bit repetitive. Overall, it was a quick read, but it didn’t fully click for me.

Thank you netgakey for a copy of Freidas latest! She has become my go to author for doing chores throughout the house since her books are quick and right to the point! This one gave me " And Then There Were None " vibes with a group of adults going on a getaway and one by one they get murdered. We also have a narrator who is anonymous, but we know that it is one of the adults on this trip. Its a wild ride!

3 STARS

One by One is a quick paced, gripping read with some entertaining moments, though it falls short of surprising its readers. While the plot is engaging at times, it becomes somewhat predictable as the story unfolds. The characters are decent but lack the depth needed to make the stakes feel truly high. Overall, it's a quick, enjoyable read for fans of the genre, but it doesn't quite leave a lasting impression.

There is always something about this author that makes me want to read all of her books, even when they are sometimes very dramatic or unrealistic... they are always entertaining! This particular read did not have likeable characters for me. I found myself being annoyed with all of them.

Overall this was not a great Freida read but, it was still an easy read and enjoyable.

One by One by Freida McFadden is a fast-paced, twisty psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The story revolves around a group of people trapped together in a remote location, where a series of mysterious events unfold. What I loved about this book was how quickly McFadden set the stage for suspense—within the first few chapters, I was already completely invested in the characters and the mounting tension. The isolated setting and the sense of danger that looms over the group had me flipping through pages at lightning speed, eager to figure out who could be trusted and who had something to hide.

McFadden’s ability to create tension through her characters and the situation they’re in is truly impressive. As the plot thickens and secrets begin to unravel, I found myself second-guessing everyone, constantly trying to figure out what would happen next. The twists were well-timed and genuinely surprising, and the ending left me speechless. One of the things I appreciated most was how McFadden explored themes of paranoia, trust, and betrayal, all while keeping the suspense high. One by One is a perfect read for anyone who loves a good, unpredictable thriller that’ll keep you guessing until the very last page.

One by One is a masterclass in psychological suspense, taking readers into a harrowing wilderness where trust is scarce, and danger lurks behind every tree.
The book follows Claire, who along with her husband and friends, is supposed to be on a getaway. However, when their minivan breaks down on a desolate road, they are forced to navigate woods, only to find themselves in a deadly game where they are hunted one by one.
So bingeable and twisty. This is a must read for thriller friends! You will be guessing until the very end.

Woah, I did NOT see that coming! I have thought I figured out the twist very early on for every Freida McFadden book I’ve read and I have been WRONG every single time. You’d think I would stop trying to guess the twist by this point, but here we are! One by One is the story of a group of friends set for a relaxing vacation only to have their car break down in the middle of nowhere and end up lost in the woods. Everyone in the group seems to have something to hide. One by one, the group’s numbers start to diminish and no one knows who they can trust.
Weather you’re a seasoned Frieda McFadden reader like me or you’re just reading one of her books for the first time, you will not be disappointed.

The premise is classic yet gripping—a group of people stranded in a remote location, only to start disappearing one by one. What makes this book stand out is McFadden’s ability to create a suffocating sense of paranoia. Every character seems suspicious, and just when you think you have it figured out, she throws in another twist.

The pacing is relentless, with short, punchy chapters that make it hard to put down. The protagonist, Claire, is relatable, and her growing anxiety is palpable as the situation spirals out of control. While some of the characters feel a bit one-dimensional, the story’s sheer unpredictability more than makes up for it. The ending, in true McFadden fashion, delivers a shocking twist that I didn’t see coming.

I'm usually always up for a FMF book - they're typically fun, quick reads that give me a giggle or ignite some curiosity in the 'whodunit' but THIS book...it was not my favorite. It started off ok but then laid down an unbelievable storyline filled with more holes than swiss cheese. The characters were equally as lame; Claire only served to get on my nerves with her wishy-washy emotions. I listened on audio and only finished it because I was hoping it would improve. #netgalley #arc #freidamcfadden #hollywoodupstairspress

One by One by Freida McFadden is a classic locked-room thriller with McFadden’s signature blend of sharp twists, unreliable characters, and dark humor. Set in an isolated location with a cast of strangers, the suspense builds quickly as secrets unravel and the body count rises.

The short chapters and snappy writing make it an absolute page-turner, with plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing. While some twists might feel a bit over-the-top, the sheer entertainment factor makes up for it.

4 stars — a fun, fast-paced thriller perfect for fans of closed-circle mysteries and jaw-dropping twists.

This was such a good book! I normally don't like the "whondunit" trope, but this was done really well.

I loved this book it was so interesting and super fast paced I think I finished it in like 4 hours maybe. I kept guessing over and over what I thought was the plot twist and trying to figure out what was going to happen but I kept being wrong I got part of the twist but not the whole thing. Which is something I really enjoy about Freida’s books they are always fast paced and there’s always a good plot twist. She just doesn’t disappoint I really enjoyed this one!

Quite disappointed in this one as I enjoy Freida's books usually. I disliked the characters from the get go and story seemed tired. I've read similar in the past. Not what I expected from this author. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Another classic McFadden book. Not my favorite, not her best, but still hit good.
