This was a fast-paced thriller that was hard to put down. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and I devoured it in a day. The characters were unique and interesting, but there wasn’t enough time to get to know them to feel too much emotion when they began to die. It was difficult to know who to trust.

This was a gripping thriller which kept me reading.

Although I enjoy Freida McFaddens books I do find her books easy to read, they have great storylines but find the twists are a little predictable.

This is one of her more pacy books and found the storyline engaging and well written.

Typical Freida, had me on the edge of my seat. Who is the bad guy? Had me second guessing myself. Love a good freida book.

What an amazing book! An absolutely a 5 star and everyone should read! This is the 4th Freida McFadden book! I read The Housemaid first and she immediately because one of my favorite authors.

Freida's books are always such a quick read because you get sucked in. She has a great way of making everyone look guilty and even making you question the narrator. Any Freida book is an automatic read for me and this was no exception.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of "One by One" by Freida McFadden. I am a McFadden junkie but this is probably my least favorite book I've read of hers (that is saying something when it was still a 4-star read). I don't want to spoil anything, but you're in for a wild ride.

A solid 4-4.25/5 stars! This was fast, exciting, & a wild ride! Twists kept coming, and had fully suspected everyone of being the killer by the end!! This was my first buddy read & Joana (@whatsjoanareading) and I had sooo much fun messaging back and forth about the craziest twists and our theories! Don’t think I was right about any theory I had, but that made this book even more fun! The end was a bit abrupt to me, but I did love the final touches in the epilogue that tied things up nicely!

I received this book for free from NetGalley and am providing this honest review voluntarily.

Didn't love the characters which I think held me back from really enjoying this standalone by McFadden. It had a decent story line and there were some captivating moments but just didn't love it like her others. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

One By One. My fellow Readers. I found the story to an interesting and thrilling story. It certainly did dive into Claire’s Psyche a lot. I mean a lot. But you know Claire is huge whimp. I’m sorry. That child just couldn’t be my friend. Anyway the story was awesome. The other characters really kept me guessing from beginning to end. During the whole trip I was saying, where the heck is this inn at? I was in the mix of being a Boy Scout myself, deciphering fact from truth about the markings, the berries, the suns trajectory. So many things had me clearing out the cob webs from the things that I’ve learned from my younger years. The story was brilliant with the questionable open disappearances. Just brilliant. As I said, I do think that Claire could have been written differently rather then a tart or harlot. Yes it’s a part of the main story, but with all the major issues that’s happening around everyone did she still have act like a fluzzy? Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

"Two people can't keep a secret", she says. "Not unless one of them is dead. It's just a fact. I always work alone."

I read this in 3 hours. Does McFadden lace her books with crack? I absolutely love books that hook me in with dark secrets and sinister plot twists. Similarly, the claustrophobic tension and deadly stakes always puts me on the edge of my seat. In "One By One" a group of friends navigate treacherous woods on their way to a week long vacation after their vehicle breaks down. When the line between predator and prey blurs, only one will survive.

I was #gifted One by One by Freida McFadden from @NetGalley and @poisonedpenpress in exchange for my honest review. The book was published April 2.
The story follows Claire Matchett as she sets off on a child-free week holiday with her husband and two couple friends. With her marriage on the rocks, she needs a break from her every day life and is looking forward to a quiet week away. But when Claire’s minivan breaks down on a dirt road, there is no choice but to start hiking. With no cellphone reception and a paper map, the group inevitably gets lost on their way to the hotel. What takes place in the woods not only strikes down their party of six one by one, but leaves them wondering who’s going to make it home?
I didn’t expect to read a McFadden book so quickly after The Handmaid’s Secret, however when I had the opportunity to receive this book I took it. And it did not let me down! Told from Claire’s POV and an Anonymous POV, McFadden has a way of drawing you in quickly and always leaves you wanting more. I finished this book in six days and couldn’t put it down. McFadden may just be the queen of confusion – in a good way. I have not guessed the ending of her books yet and appreciate that she has such a way of leading the readers in one direction and then flipping the script in another.
I give this book four-stars. It was fast-paced, and easy to read. The characters are likeable and the reader really takes you along on her journey and you go willingly. It left me guessing until the end.

This is my seventh book that I have read by Freida McFadden and I have enjoyed every single one of them! This was a quick easy read that I enjoyed. Claire thought this vacation would be a break from the stresses of work, raising her young children, and a chance to repair her damaged marriage, but it was far from what she anticipated. There was always something going on throughout the book that kept you on your toes and wondering what could possibly happen now? From a broken down van, no cell phone service, lost in the woods to one by one something happening to each person. What a vacation right? And how is all the excitement that is happening in this book going to help fix a broken marriage? The ending was definitely a surprise that I was not expecting with a great twist! A must read in my opinion! Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and the author for an advanced copy!

Freida McFadden has a habit of making you think you know the answer and what I love about her novels is that she has you looking at one place the entire time when the hook is right in front of you. One By One give you that where she has you looking all around and think oh you are trying to confuse me but not gonna trip me up. Then she does. This is from her early work but its a fun novel.

This was an intriguing book with a plot twist, but the characters were not super likeable at any point which made it hard to root for anyone.
