Loved the twists and turns in this one. Kept me guessing as the story played out. Would have loved a little more background on our killers in the end.

Thank you to the Freida McFadden and the publisher for allowing me to read an arc of this novel!
I’d rate One by One 4.5/5 ⭐️
So far this is the second Freida McFadden novel I’ve read and OMG they keep getting better and better. She is becoming one of my favourite authors! Every time I think I have the plot figured out, I’m proven wrong, and it’s never what I would expect (in a good way). The plot for One by One is so well thought out, and I really enjoyed the characters and their backstory. Noah and Claire are my fav 🥲

Freida McFadden’s “One by One” is a gripping and expertly crafted psychological thriller that showcases the author’s talent for creating intense, edge-of-your-seat narratives. From the very beginning, McFadden hooks readers with a chilling premise and a plot that unfolds with relentless suspense.
The story follows a group of strangers who find themselves trapped in a remote cabin during a snowstorm, only to realize that a killer is among them. McFadden’s skillful character development ensures that each member of the group is distinct and multi-dimensional, adding depth to the story and making the unfolding mystery all the more compelling.
McFadden’s pacing is impeccable, with each chapter ending on a note of heightened tension that propels the reader forward. The claustrophobic setting of the isolated cabin enhances the sense of dread, creating an atmosphere that is both suffocating and thrilling. As the body count rises, McFadden deftly weaves in clues and red herrings, keeping readers guessing until the very last page.
What sets “One by One” apart is McFadden’s ability to balance the psychological intricacies of her characters with a fast-paced, action-packed plot. The interplay between the characters’ fears, suspicions, and survival instincts is masterfully done, making for a read that is as psychologically engaging as it is thrilling.
“One by One” is a testament to Freida McFadden’s prowess as a writer of psychological thrillers. With its intricate plot, well-drawn characters, and unrelenting suspense, this novel is a must-read for fans of the genre. McFadden delivers a story that is both intellectually stimulating and viscerally exciting, ensuring that readers will be thinking about it long after they’ve turned the final page.

4.9 stars!!! Wow what a twist. Freida is a master at withholding just the right amount of information throughout her stories. At first I thought, great we’re going to be stuck in the woods in the same situation forever. And then slowly and subtly with the perfect pacing does she reveal all the twists and turns. I kept going back and forth about who I trusted in this book and was not disappointed. I marked off .1 star just because I feel like the very very end wasn’t needed. But an amazing ride nonetheless!

4 stars!! Such a fun book! I could not put it down!! Always the twist at the end that you never see coming with Frieda McFadden’s books. I will read anything Freida writes. Love all the twist that you never expect. Always keeps you guessing.

One by One by Freida McFadden is an absolute page-turner! From the first chapter, I was hooked by the suspenseful plot and the well-developed characters.
The way McFadden weaves together multiple perspectives keeps you guessing until the very end. Each chapter reveals new twists and turns, making it impossible to put the book down. The characters are so vividly drawn that you feel like you're right there with them, experiencing every chilling moment.

Right off the bat, I loved this. This is only my 2nd Freida book ever and I found I was a lot more involved and interested throughout my read with this one than Never Lie. A couple in a failing marriage goes on a trip to a cabin with 2 other couples and their car stops working in the middle of nowhere. The absolute drama between all the characters and their personal lives was like watching a soap opera and once shit started going down I was sitting there trying to tie lines to people. For a long time I thought I'd guessed the culprit/twist and was super surprised to find out I was incorrect which is always a delight. Great little read and not too long. Could probably read this in one sitting.

I really enjoyed this! I have read almost all of McFadden's novels, and I would honestly read her grocery list at this point. Highly recommend.

I'm a huge Frieda McFadden fan, like so many others. One by One was almost difficult to read because I NEEDED to know what happened immediately. I read it in two sittings because once they got in the road to start their trip away in the woods, I could not put it down until I had resolution. One by One is primarily narrated by Claire, married to Noah and mother of their two children. Claire and Noah pick up 2 of their friends and their partners for a trip away at a fancy inn located in the wilderness. What happens next is, as the title states, one by one... their friends start disappearing/dying. Is there someone hunting them? Is anyone safe? Even after we have resolution, I still felt creeped out. Excellently written and even when I thought I had it figured out, I was still shocked in the end. Highly recommend.

Drumroll please…….
McFadden does it again in true fashion with a quick binge worthy read that keeps you on your toes! I loved the twists in this one especially because I didn’t see it coming! & the anonymous touch had me completely thrown off with my suspicions. If you haven’t read this one yet, well then what are you waiting for?

Amazing book. I couldn’t put it down a must read. Twists and turns Ms. McFadden is known for. All the characters are great. You do not want to miss this book.

Not my favorite McFadden book, but still entertaining. Her twists are ALWAYS surprising and well worth the read. It was a slow start for me but got better.

Unfortunately this was a huge miss for me. I found the drama between the characters to be way too cheesy, and the twists predictable.

Always a riveting, good read when it comes to Frieda. Was a fast paced thriller with twists and turns I did not see coming. Enjoyed this book and look forward to more.

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press for letting me read ONE BY ONE. This one is out now!
Frieda McFadden won't change your life or make you smarter, but damn will she entertain the heck out of you. I think I'm a super fan for life. I've really come to love and rely on her books - they are sure to get me out of any reading slump and are the perfect companion to take you away from reality. I highly recommend ONE BY ONE, she used an old and perfect formula and made it her own in the best way.

4/5 stars!
This book was so unexpected and such a quick and easy read. I loved the twists and I loved that I was able to read this in one sitting! Freida never disappoints!

Freida never does wrong. LOL. I love her books and this one is no exception. A quick thriller, with a SUPER unexpected twist at the end. I had no idea what was going to happen.

This was my second Freida McFadden book and I have to say I really enjoyed it. One of the biggest things I comment on when I review thrillers is the extent of the twist. I prefer a good, solid, twist. Not a game of twister (so many twists I can’t keep up and they no longer make sense now and my ankle is broken and I live in America so now I’m poor because I broke my ankle).... That was a joke. Moving on. All that to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the ending and felt that it made sense, it was somewhat shocking, most importantly she surprised me and MADE IT MAKE SENSE.
I also really enjoyed the survival aspects thrown into the story, it made it feel more unique to the other thrillers I’ve read. People always say McFadden’s books aren’t the most intellectual but are very fun. I would have to agree and also if you are reading a thriller for intellectual gain we need to chat.
I never felt bored, the pacing was perfect. The characters were age appropriate and didn’t do anything that made me think “this character would never do this.” This was a very solid thriller and I’m glad I read it. Can’t wait to read more of her books.

Ms. McFadden does it again! This is now my sixth of her novels and she has a fan for life! One By One kept me on the edge of my seat and giving the side eye to every character! As always with Freida, you have to read until the very last page! Considering myself a #FreidaReada

This was an interesting one. My first Freida McFadden book and I must say, it was a quick read and quite riveting to say the least.
So this is about a group of friends going off on a trip, but their car breaks down halfway through and now, they’re trudging through the forest. There are 3 couples in this group and each has their own equations. But as they’re trying to go to their destination, their resort, they start hearing sounds and soon, they are picked off one by one. Who exactly is doing this to their group is what you’ll be on the lookout for as you read.
I liked the suspense, with every page bringing out a fresh brand of horror for the characters, who are not angels or anything. Infidelity is a trait I hate in real life and to see it used as a plot point in this book was a strange kind of battle for me. The twist was good but the journey was weird for me, because even though it is the whole premise that things will be revealed towards the end, it made me a tad bit impatient. But it isn’t something I hold against the book because the suspense, as to what it is that is killing these people, picking them off one by one, is what makes this story.
The thing that I hold against it is the fact that there’s no buildup to that twist. Usually, what I love in a book of this genre is that the author sprinkles subtle signs throughout the story, nothing to grab your attention but when you go back and read it after finishing the book, you’ll go, “OH!” because the signs were all there and they perfectly lead up to it. But here, there are none of those signs except for a few ambiguous chapters from a different perspective. I need the signs in the present, not in the past, because the plot is happening in the present, you know?
That being said, I wouldn’t dismiss this book out of hand because it is quite gripping in its own way. It might be that Freida McFadden’s later books might be more interesting, but this is one that would be a great start to her literary universe.
