I love Freida Mcfadden and have been obsessed with every single book that I've read so far, but this one fell flat. I couldn't get into the characters and felt that the book was dragging on.

I still enjoyed reading it and as always, was surprised with the twists, but it just wasn't my favorite.

Thank you net galley for the copy .I am a huge Mcfadden fan .I did think the beginning started off slow .The characters were ones I kept getting confused .May just be me but too many to keep up with .I ofcourse did not guess the ending.I felt the ending left me wanting more as like most of her books .

Fast and easy read. Twists and turns up until the end. Ending leaves it open for a possible sequel, and a little bit of a good cliffhanger

This really threw me in for a loop. Freida McFadden always has amazing books but this one had me thinking I knew who it really was the whole time but she def threw me off every now and then or had me doubting myself. In the end, it wasn’t what I expected at all. I will say that if you are easily triggered by cheating then don’t read this as it is based around it. This book really went by the title: One By One. I highly recommend this book to those who love a good thrill, figuring out who did the crime, camping, hiking, and who love Frieda McFadden’s books.

Freida McFadden just knows how to write a good book her twists and turns just keep coming you don’t know who to suspect and when you think you’ve finally worked it out there is another twist thrown in her books read super quick because you just can’t put them down she is the plot twist queen

Freida McFadden is my current obsession. You might think you know where she is going, but the twists are so clever. As always, when I finish one of her books I throw up my arms and say I did not see that coming. Can't wait to recommend to my patrons.

Gah, can you even do any wrong FM?! Holy plot twist. As usual, this book took me through the ups and the downs of trying to guess how it would turn out and AS USUAL I was wrong. I can literally always count on her for a thriller that will keep my attention at all times!

I knew it was a rerelease so it had already been out, but that did not stop me from being excited to read it!
Yet another Freida book I really enjoyed!

this is one of Freida's older self-published books, that was recently picked up by an agent and officially published last month!

i wanted to like this book, I even had hope, the elements were off to a good start... let me list them for you..

PROS:

1- good potential, nice elements, broken marriage, infidelity, couple decides to go on a weekend getaway with 2 other couples (friends)
you can tell it would be sinister, and the build-up was nice ( in the beginning only) , and it had some real potential

2-There are 2 POVs, Claire's, the protagonist with the broken marriage who is chatting with her husband, and an anonymous someone telling their backstory. this built intrigue, as i would doubt and guess who it might be, and to be fair, i suspected almost everyone (i had a strong suspicion of who it really was, and i am not sure if i should be proud of myself, or not! )

3- The redundancy was less than her other books, but it was there!

CONS:

1- it was definitely slower than her usual books that we are used to

2- the whole reveal was ... lame dare i say! the whole reason as to why they were doing what they were doing from killing and whatnot was sooo.. old? cheesy? unbelievable! maybe the build-up was not too good?

3- the knife used, the compass, the magnet, the broken ankle, i don't know, it was all very weak! it felt too perfect or everyone was so dumb and clueless.. not to give too much away, but you cant do what they did and make it look as perfect as they made it seem!

4- the characters were very unlikable, and I am not sure if this was the intention or not!

Freida McFadden's One By One is a fast-paced thriller with a great twist at the end.

The book is a unique take on a locked room mystery. Six friends leave for an outdoorsy vacation, but they never actually reach their destination. Instead, they get stranded when their minivan breaks down; then, one by one, they begin dying. The unique take is that instead of being locked in, they are stuck outdoors. Does the biggest threat come from the elements, the wild animals, or your closest friends?

Finished this one as a NetGalley ARC and I gave it 3 stars! This story is about 3 couples who are going to a cabin for a small getaway. Well, the cabin is in the middle of nowhere, their ride breaks down, and instead of back tracking to where they had phone signal to call for help…they continue to stay together and go down a very wooded path (with no signal) just to go in circles, ultimately getting lost.
POV is told by Claire and Anonymous. Anonymous is one of the six people with Claire trying to pick them off “one by one” due to some things that happen this person didn’t agree with (infidelity being the main thing) So you’re basically just wondering the entire time why they’re all so stupid to walk in the woods with a map and no food to find their getaway cabin…while also trying to figure out who planned it this way and is causing all the trouble while they’re lost😂 it was “okay” but maybe someone else will enjoy it more than I did!

There is always a way to have me drop my jaw when I read Freida McFadden and this is absolutely one of them!

An enjoyable read about 6 friends who plan a week away unaware that one of them isn’t quite what they think.
It’s a book that you read with trepidation because the intro tells you that not everyone will return, this sets the mood of the book.
It’s an easy read, a good twist when you realise who the baddies and the goodies are, I didn’t guess it in advance.

Okay. I feel like I’m going to be the minority here but this just didn’t do it for me. After reading a couple of her other books, I was left a little disappointed.
I feel like sooo many thrillers have a cheating spouse and it’s honestly overdone at this point. That and I just think this book could have been written without that plot point.
The plot twist? Maybe I’m yet again in the minority but I saw it coming from a mile away.
This was just like any other thriller to me. Predictable, for sure.
I also noticed a lot of things that could have been due to lack of editing. One cause of death one page, several pages later another? It almost feels as if this book was rushed or not carefully planned/edited.
I’ll keep reading books by Freida. This one just was very eh.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED? I was half right, but I was also SO WRONG.. I don't know what it is about Frieda's wild twists, but they get me every time. Honestly, they're always so ridiculous. I don't know why I expect anything else

I just read this amazing nail bitter! A well-written book that had me palpitating. The storyline is super intense and I was hooked from beginning to end. The characters were vividly portrayed and endearing tangling me up further. I could not put this treasure that played in my mind luke a movie. I highly recommend this book to all, I think it will definitely entertain you.

Freida is the thriller queen, and of course this book didn’t disappoint. This is a great book with a fairly good plot twist. If you’ve read a Freida, you know she’s setting the crime to be someone obvious and then picks a whole different person. This book is a quick read without a lot of description to small detail or setting/character building. This usually works for her since any reader can picture themselves as a character. I would have liked a little more backstory on a couple of side characters that started in the group.

whenever i‘m in a reading slump, i pick up a freida mcfadden book and BOOM im literally beamer. 5/5 ms. mcfadden eats every single time
