Not my favorite book by Freida but it was a quick and easy read. It just felt like something was missing. The twist was unexpected in true FM fashion and it was definitely a page turner as I finished it in one day.

OH MY GOD. This is my favorite book that Freida has written, to date. It was the most UNEXPECTED plot twist. I seriously still cannot believe it.

The idea of having the anonymous POV was my most favorite. You kept thinking you knew who it was but you found out right at the very end.

Plot was a solid 10 for me.
Twist was also a 10.
There was a happy ending.
Re-found family.
Backstabbing.

Ugh. I loved it. Bravo.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house, and the author for an opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review, based upon my honest opinion

This author writes a ton of thrillers. They’re all fun quick reads with lots of surprises and twists some you see and some you definitely don’t.

In this book, we follow six people, three couples who go on a vacation together in a cabin in the woods. The book is narrated by Claire who is with her husband, Noah, her best friend, Lindsey, and her new beau, Warner, as well as Noah’s best friend, Jack and his wife, Michelle. There are occasional chapters which are also narrated by anonymous. We are told right from the get-go that only one person is planning on leaving from this little trip. As the couples get lost, they get scared as the bodies start to drop very early in the story.
Finding out who the killer is as well as the reasoning, was a fun read. It was enjoyable and the final few twists. I really didn’t see coming. I Look forward to many more fun books by Freida McFadden.

I am sorry, but this a one star for me
I think this book needs heavy editing and reconstructing
It is full of errors and mistakes
but putting that aside, the plot holes and unreasonable storyline was a big let down
The story diregarded every logical aspect and through away every accepted outcome for the sake of Shock Factor
The reasoning for the crime did not make any sense

This one was super fast paced and I did not see the twist coming. And the extra twist! Definitely flew through this one!

4.5 stars
Super fun, very quick read.
I loved how fast paced it was- It felt a bit shorter than some of her others, but it was a great length.
I read it in one setting which is always incredibly satisfying when you're reading a thriller & just want to know what happens next.
I always love Freida and this was no exception.

Claire's marriage is on the rocks and has been for some time, but they are sticking it out for the sake of their children. Claire and her husband have planned a remote trip to a mountain inn planned with two other couples. On the way to the inn, Claire's van breaks down on a remote road that seems to be rarely, if ever, used. They have two options, stay at the van in the sweltering heat where their luggage is or attempt to make the few miles trek to the inn. The group decides to stick together and make the few miles trip to the inn on foot in order to get food and gain access to Wi-Fi so they can access help. Members of the group start disappearing one by one but how and why? Is it an animal, a murderer on the loose, or someone within their group. The few miles trek turns into days and, are they walking in circles?
This book was told from the perspective of two characters, Claire and anonymous. The story was a quick read but kept me on my toes throughout the story. There were parts of the story that were predictable but like always, there was an unexpected plot twist that I didn't see coming. Claire's character was a bit irritating, and she let her husband, Noah, treat her like crap without retaliating. She was living a miserable life with someone she assumed didn't love her any longer and treated her like crap for her kids. While Claire's relationship with her husband changes throughout this story, it shouldn't take being stranded in the middle of nowhere and multiple murders for marital changes to occur.
While I don't feel that this was the best Freida McFadden book that I have read, it was a fast-paced thriller that kept me interested from page one.
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me the opportunity to provide my honest feedback.

My first McFadden but definitely not going to be the last! Wow!! One by One was self published in 2020 and recently reissued. 6 friends venture out on a trip... in a forest in Northern Colorado... which seems a bit far fetched as I live in NoCo and there's no forests on the plains but... I was enthralled. We have the POV of Claire who is in an unhappy marriage and then the POV of "Anonymous" who I thought I had pinged but nope, kept me guessing til the end. Fantastic read

I enjoyed this book! Not as much as other books by this author, but it definitely kept my interest and kept me engaged throughout.

2.5/5 stars. I think I have a love hate relationship with Frieda’s books. On one hand, I love them because they’re easy to get into and she’s got an impressive list of published works that all vary in plot. On the other hand, she uses a lot of false clues throughout her novels to lead the readers astray from who the killer is. Everyone becomes a suspect …and that can be a fun reading experience don’t get me wrong. But in this particular book, I felt super indifferent to all of the characters fates and then on top of that the killer reveal coupled with their lame motive really fell flat for me. While I did enjoy that is was a short and quick read, I wish I could say that I liked the plot itself. I will however give another one of her books another chance as I’ve enjoyed a few of her other works.

Thank you to NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and Freida McFadden for an advanced copy of this digital book in exchange for my honest review.

As an avid Freida reader, this is not my favorite but it was in no way a boring read. This book was nonstop action and suspicion from the beginning. There are so many questionable remarks, actions, and looks that have you wondering if everyone is there for the right reasons. I would totally recommend this book to anyone wanting a quick thriller!

Overall, in true McFadden fashion, her books make me want to think twice about doing whatever the characters are doing, ha! In this one, going on vacation to a remote spot.

I read this book in 3 days and that’s a record time for me. I love how you think you know what is going to happen and then boom it’s never what you think. Thank you very much Netgalley on giving me a copy of it !! It was a great read and can’t wait until the next one

Seemed like this book was going in circles a lot. I love this author and have read everything by her. I can’t wait for more books to come out by her.

Thank you to Ndtgalley for providing me a copy of this book for a fair review.
This story follows 6 friends as they head to a resort in the wilderness for the week. Along the way they run into some car trouble and become lost, trying to find their way to the resort. While hiking through the wilderness secrets are revealed and things begin to happen. I really enjoyed this book more than a lot of the other books I have read by Freida McFadden. There were many things to happen that I didn't see coming and kept me wanting to read to the end.

I received this eARC after publication day, therefore my review is not timely. I am a Freida Fan and loving all her books. This was not one of my favorites however. It seemed longer than it needed to be, and the main character was annoying at times. Whiney too.

It is told in the voice of two characters, the main character being Claire, the other an anonymous voice that actually sounds like it could be male, but we don't know who it is until the end. Claire hates her husband at the opening of this story. They are embarking on a road trip with two other couples, leaving their kids with Claire's sister. Claire's young daughter has a bad premonition about the trip. One that seems to be coming true as they move along on their trip.

The ending is a big surprise and unexpected, which I personally enjoy. I don't think Freida fans will be too disappointed in this. It kept my interest most of the way, and I will be continuing to read whatever she puts out there.

Another great mystery by Freida McFadden! A group of friends embarks on a weekend away when things start to go wrong when their van breaks down in the middle of nowhere! They must hike thru the woods & mysterious things start to happen to the group...one by one. Lots of twists I didn't see coming - a great, quick read!

One by One is a thriller where a group of friends gets lost in a forest after their car breaks down and are then slowly picked off, one by one. It was fine. Certainly not the most notable thriller, and not McFadden's best work, but if you're looking for something to pass the time, this will do.

If you read thrillers at all, you'll probably guess most of the ending. And there are some pretty big plotholes, too. Like, if your car breaks down on the road to an inn, why don't you just follow that same road to find it? Why go out randomly into the forest and roam around for days? Did none of the adults even Google this place before embarking on a week-long vacation there?

I love a good Freida read and while I did enjoy this one it just wasn’t my favorite. I didn’t feel a connection so much with any of the characters to be able to jaw drop when the plot twists happened. I loved the twist and turns that always come with Freida’s books but this one felt a little rushed, although I’d read it again and definitely recommend it to my fellow thriller lovers so they can enjoy the ride themselves!

What a wild story, I could not put it down and finished in 1 day. Six friends (3 couples) decide to go on a relaxing vacation and on their way, their car breaks down in the woods. None of them have service and they decide to walk the "1 mile" to the inn. The rest of the book is based in the woods where one by one, horrible things start to happen. So many twists and turns, highly recommend.

Another great suspense by Freida McFadden.

This book was a slow start that had me slightly thrown off by how the ending came together. I appreciate Freida's quick paced writing on the dual timelines to weave a clever story.

I was thrown off by the anonymous view as I was unaware if the narrator was male or female, I flip flopped on this which was perhaps the point of the chapters, to keep the reader entertained.

The epilogue chapter very well thought out in the sense that it conveyed doubt in Claire's view of how the weekend went down. There was something missing and perhaps a chapter from the Noah could've cleared some things up be alas a great read.
