This is edge-of-my-seat kind of reading that I love, and that I have come to expect from books written by McFadden. Keep them coming!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book. Freida McFadden is one of my favorite mystery/thriller authors. This book was good there wasn't anything truly interesting in this book however I did want to keep reading. Mainly because there would be chapters throughout the book that were from an anonymous POV and it made you want to keep reading to see if figuring out who that person is. The book mainly takes place in the woods due to getting lost and then in a cabin with a fresh sandwich that only had 2 bites sitting on the table. Finding out who the anonymous person was definitely threw me for a loop because I thought it was one of the guys from the friend group but I was wrong. Overall, I did enjoy reading.

This was an intense and captivating thriller! It hooked me from the very beginning & was the epitome of “unputdownable”!

Claire and her husband, Noah, have a trip planned with two other couples. Noah's best friend, Jack and his wife, and Claire's best friend, Lindsay and her boyfriend. They will be spending a week away at a nice resort tucked away in the woods. Claire and Noah have been having issues in their marriage and maybe this will help them, or maybe this will be an opportunity to spend more time with Jack, who Claire has been having an affair with.
When Claire's minivan breaks down in the woods, the group decide to walk the rest of the way to the hotel. It's only supposed to be a couple of miles away and they have a map. As minutes turn to hours, they realize they are completely lost. To make matters worse, someone starts to kill members of the group, one by one.
This book had me gripped from the beginning. It kept me guessing the whole time. I definitely was not expecting the ending! Frieda McFadden is truly talented when it comes to unexpected twists! I actually like when the characters are not all likable, they are perfectly imperfect! Highly recommend!
Thank you to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I had not read a book by Freida McFadden but see her books all over bookstagram. I thought I needed to give one a try. One by One follows a group of six friends who are getting away and into nature for the weekend. When their minivan breaks down on a dirt road, they are forced to hike their way to their Inn. As they get deeper into the woods, they realize they are lost and soon members of their party start dying or disappear. How many will make it out of the woods?
I did like this book. It was not very long and the author is great at telling an addictive story. I was through the book in less than 24 hours. I was shocked by the twist and was excited to read the last little surprise at the end. I did find some of the story repetitive and think the book could have been even shorter with the same suspense. I also did not really like any of the characters. For some reason, I could not find a connection with them or empathy to root for them to survive. I do think that anyone who is a fan of the author will really love this book.

Thank you, Netgalley for the ARC of One by One by Freida McFadden. I have read a number of Ms McFadden’s novels and have really enjoyed them. I had a little trouble with this one. I found most of the characters not likable and the usual twist at the end was a little too forced.

Frieda is the queen of suspense, I couldn’t put this book down.
6 friends travel to a secluded cabin for a weekend away.
Slowly each friend disappears until only a few remain.
Who will make it back home ?

There's just something about the way that Frieda McFadden writes! I didn't realize that this was a re-print of a book that I had already read, but I just love the way that McFadden gets you pulled into a book and doesn't make any ridiculous leaps.
This is the story of a trip that turns into your quintessential characters dying off story. Our main character is set and ready to go on her relaxing vacation, but when her car breaks down on the way, her and her group have to hike through the woods the rest of the way through to the hotel. However, her friends soon start dying off and she has to get to the bottom of it.

If I had "friends" like these, I'd live like a hermit in a cave. I wanted everyone to die.
The whole story was just too absurd, and I didn't care about any of it.
DNF

This was a Frieda McFadden book that I hadn’t read yet so I was excited to start it. Right away I was sucked into the relationships between the characters and trying to figure out who was the mastermind behind this trip.
The story is mostly from Claire’s POV but also occasionally is told from Anonymous’s POV which keeps you guessing.
Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever correctly guessed a twist in a Freida McFadden book and this was no exception!
Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ebook.

Frieda McFadden is a household name at this point, and my husband probably thinks she's a long-lost friend of mine for how much I talk about her. This book was like all of the others in the fact that it was full of twists and thrills, ongoing entertainment, and just all-around a joy to read. I haven't run into a bad book yet.

Frieda did it again. Kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out the ending and adding twist after twist.

I have read so many of Freida McFadden books and this one is easily top 5. You will continue to second guess up until the very last page. Do not leave this one on your tbr list.

One By One By Frieda McFadden?! WOW just WOW… I’m always going into books blind. IDK, I guess I just like being genuinely surprised me something happens. Everywhere I turned there was something happening that made this one a fun read for me. Anytime the words, psychological thriller, and the name Freida McFadden are in the same sentence, sign me up and I do mean anytime. I was able to read and finishes working one setting. This is why my love for Freida McFadden and runs deep. The plot twists were twisting and let me just say, I will be back for more 10 out of 10, I would recommend!!!

This was overall a very entertaining and page turned book, but not as twisted as previous books I've read from Freida McFadden. Almost like her signature move, Freida throws us right into the action, and takes in through the eyes of Claire and Anonymous (our killer), from their perspective we enter a vacation from hell at the same time we learn about this killer sad past, character's are flawed and sometimes unlovable which makes us question everyone and leads us to believe we know what's happening, but if you know Freida's writing, you know she'll just pull the rug from under your feet at any moment and turn the story upside down, right when you think you figured it all ou.
The plot felt unrealistic and some details seems completely out of place at times, but I still enjoyed it. Did not predict what the ending would be or who Anonymous was, so it was a really nice surprise.

This is some of Freida’s best work, hands down. The storyline, plot twists, characters & setting were all so intriguing and well thought out. I read it in one sitting and I could not put it down. I also thought having an “Anonymous” narrator was GENIUS because it makes it so much more suspenseful & interesting. I absolutely loved it and am putting it in my top 10 for thrillers this year.

This was my 5th Freida McFadden book and they are the perfect books to binge. I must make the effort to go through her entire back catalogue.
This one follows Claire who is going on a vacation with her husband who she cannot stand and a group of friends. Its full of the usual tropes; getting lost in the woods, no phone service, being killed off one by one and yet it also contained twists I never saw coming with a great ending.

OH•MY•GAWWWWD!!! 😱

The suspense, the mystery, the PLOT TWIST!!! I kept guessing who it could be the whole time, but not once did I guess the killer! @fmcfaddenauthor YOU TRICKED ME!!! That deserves a 5/5 ⭐️ FOR SURE!!
…
One by One was originally released back in 2020, but has reappeared with a brand new paperback cover!! Saw it on the shelves at @target so I have proof it’s available NOW!!

This book was FUN. The characters all had redeemable and irredeemable qualities which made you question all of their intentions. A short fast read with a good twist, but the ending left a lot to be desired. It seemed too rapid and didn’t tie up the plot well enough to feel satisfying.

I might be an outlier on this book, but I just don't get the hype. I found the plot to be completely unbelievable and truly ridiculous at times, however, I could not put it down. I knew there was going to be a twist like all Frieda McFadden books, and that didn't disappoint, I just feel like everything to get up to the twist was so far fetched. You have to suspend a lot of reality to believe this one. The group is on a road that is supposedly two miles from an inn and they decide to take off just into the woods instead of following a road? The car suddenly stalls as soon as they get in the woods? They walk for DAYS in the woods and never stumble back to their car or to any water source? Just completely wild to me. Overall, some folks who might be getting into thrillers might enjoy this one- I've just read too many fantastic thrillers to be too impressed.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
