There’s nothing I love more than a locked room mystery and “One by One” delivered. I finished this in one day because it completely grabbed me from the start. This is a perfect book to finish off in an afternoon- it’s quick but packs a punch!
Claire, her husband Noah and four of their friends are headed to an abandoned cabin for a week long vacation to hike, fish and relax. But everything is not as it seems and their intended vacation turns into a game of cat and mouse.
I loved the twists at the end and never suspected it! 4/5 stars!
Big thanks to Poisoned Pen Press, Netgalley and Freida MacFadden for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Freida is my favourite author and this is my first book where the plot is predictable.
The twists were ok but not Freida level. I enjoyed it but for me it was far from her best. Still a good book to read just not spectacular.

An absolutely unputdownable read that will keep you attached to your spot until you read the very last page! Freida's writing is addictive and will have you going crazy trying to figure out who anonymous is! I couldn't figure it out... can you?

Freida McFadden, you are the plot twist queen! 👸
When I pick up a book by Freida, I know I need to clear my agenda of everything else because I'm not going to want to put it down and that's exactly what happened with this one! I spent Easter Monday with my head in this book, not moving from start to finish... well there may have been the exception where I got up to get food, or perhaps I didn't even do that.. I'm not even sure now 🤷♀️🤣
Three couples, head off on a holiday for a week of hiking and hot tubs. Sounds like the perfect trip right?! That is until Claire's minivan breaks down along the way leaving them stranded in the woods with no cell reception and having to hike through the woods the rest of the way to the hotel.
It seems the woods aren't so easy to navigate and it becomes clear after a few hours they are completely lost.
To make matters worse, the deeper they go into the woods, the more danger seems to be lurking and soon, one by one the number of members of the group reduces as they are taken out mysteriously and the rest continue to survive and make it out alive!

This book was right up my alley! It was very fast-paced and kept my attention the whole time - it felt like I was watching a movie more than reading a book. The ending threw me off because I was more surprised of what/who it WASN'T rather than what/who it was... with that being said, I felt satisfied with the ending because even though it was left open, in my mind, things ended hapily and sorted out.
Though I enjoyed the dual POV and not knowing who the other POV was, I think what would've made this book 5 stars for me would be if there were also present time POV's of the Anonymous character and I think that would've made it more freaky.

I continue to be completely entertained by Freida McFadden's books! This is a quick, fun thriller that follows a group of 6 friends who get lost in the woods, 1 by 1 they start to disappear and the remaining characters have to quickly figure out who the culprit is before they become the next victim!
I love thrillers like this when secrets start to slowly trickle ou and you have to try to put the puzzle pieces together to find out who done it. A fun addition to this book was the "Anonymous" chapters, the readers get to hear from the killer's POV without knowing who it is, which keeps you intrigued.
This book is filled with suspense and interesting characters, Very entertaining!

Well Freida...You once again had me thinking I knew who it was and then completely had me floored when the twists unravel. I've found recently that I really enjoy the lost in the woods thrillers and this one was well thought out. I loved the uncertainty about who to trust and how drastic situations like this can really change a person. The ending was great and keeps you questioning what if it didn't end here.

Read this one straight through, kept me guessing and guessing wrong! The fear of being lost in the woods only adds to the suspense, and the Agatha Christie vibes of And Then There Were None could not be ignored! Must read for true Freida fans ⭐️

Omg! I am on a binge reading Freida McFadden's books because I have fell in love with the Housemaid series. This one did not disappoint! Did not see the ending coming on this one! Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow this is a fast-paced thriller! This was my first book by Freida McFadden and I had a great time with it. There was tons of tension as members of a road trip group get picked off, switching off between two points of view that really keep the action going, and finally a great twist. I am excited to read more by this author!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 “One by One” is basically what happens when a road trip goes wrong. Claire Matchett and her friends are road tripping in a minivan, then boom - they're stuck in the middle of nowhere. No phones, a busted compass, and a map that's totally useless. It's the kind of mess you'd expect in a horror flick, right?
Then, as if things couldn't get weirder, they start disappearing one by one. The story bounces between Claire and this mysterious 'Anonymous' person causing all the trouble. And Claire? Kinda whiny about outdoor life (I mean, peeing in the woods isn't that big of a deal, right?). But honestly, the group vibes keep you going.
Don't dive in expecting some deep, mind-bending mystery. It's more like a wild ride with a side of suspense. Definitely worth reading if you're into stories that take a wild turn and don't let up. So, if you're up for an adventure that's a bit out there, “One by One” should be your next read. Trust me, it's a trip!
Thanks Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for a copy in exchange for my review!

Freidas books give me life!!! They are the perfect popcorn thrillers & will always have you second guessing everything! This boom was no exception , I thought I had it figured out but turns out I did not. While im not usually a fan of Dual POV I can say Freida knows what shes doing.
!

Love, love, love Freida McFadden. Just when you think you have one of her books figured out, BAM. She hits you with the twist.
One by one was no different! You will read the book and formulate several hypotheses about what is going on and I guarantee you, you will be incorrect! This ending was nothing that I expected.

Freida does it yet again! I never am able to guess her plot twists. This is not my first and will not be my last Freida McFadden book. The story line was fast paced, very interesting. I was kept guessing on who would make it home at the end of the story line.

I LOVE any book by Freida McFadden! This book is a page turner for sure! I really enjoyed the two viewpoints-from Claire and from the anonymous person, whom we find out at the end (that surprised me!). I could not stop reading this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this free eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Another quick and easy read by Freida, but my least favorite of her books by far. Six friends lost in the woods on their way to a vacation at an inn. The main character, Claire, was very unlikable, as were the rest of the characters. A lot of repetition - Claire hates her husband, her friend Lindsay's boyfriend Warner is hot, Claire misses her kids and on and on. There was also a lot of stupidity. Your car breaks down on a road yet instead of following the road you wander in the woods aimlessly for days? Claire's husband says he will do anything to get her back so then why didn't he start doing the laundry before the trip? I hoped that the plot twist in the end would redeem the book, but it did not.

I recently got into reading Freida McFadden when I finally decided to pick up Never Lie and now I have been running through her backlog at break neck pace. I was excited to get an ARC of this one, but I will say it's not one of my favorites. This seemed very out of the author's normal space when she writes her books and the setting was just kind of odd. I definitely was able to predict the twist in this one fairly early and that's not normally how it goes. I still liked the story, but it felt half done compared to the other books.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
I read this in about half a day. I was absolutely pulled into the story. While I didn't care as much about all the individual characters I did really want to figure out the mystery.
About halfway through I figured it out (a lucky guess). It ends on a slight cliffhanger, which makes me curious to see how it develops.
It's not a book that I will remember, but it was a nice quick read.

“Unputdownable” from the beginning to the last page.
Kept thinking I’d had it figured out, and then the end 😱
Pick it up, you won’t put it back down.

Thank you Net Galley and publishers for letting me read this arc for an honest review.
I always enjoy Freida's books. They're good stories that make you think. Six friends leave for vacation, but soon get stranded in the woods. With no other way out, they try to hike the rest of the way to the inn. One by one, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously. But as more time passes, one thing becomes clear: Only one of them will return home alive. I was trying to guess who was the killer with each chapter and I was still wrong by the end. They all have secrets and they all needed to be taught a lesson. This was a very enjoyable psychological thriller that was quick and easy for me. I read it in a weekend.
