Freida McFadden is always a 5 star read! This is one of her most amazing stories. A group of friends gets lost in the woods and suddenly start dying one by one as the title suggests! This psychological thriller will have you guessing until the very end. Freida always gets you when you least expect it! Pay attention to every chapter or you may miss something very important!

Frieda McFadden does it again. I always reach for a FM book when I want a quick, grab your attention, pull you in thriller. Most of the time FM can do this with her twisty, whodunnit themes like this book One by One. I would recommend this particular FM thriller to my fellow book lovers.
Who can you really trust? A friendly road trip turns into a lost in the woods with a group of 6 some friends, some not who lose their way going to a B&B for some rest and relaxation. Little did they know, they would be far from it and only some would return.....

Loved this! Really easy thriller with short chapters. A group of friends go on a camping trip but "One by one" they dispatched. Another great read by this author. I read it in a couple of days. Really enjoyable. Would make a great beach read. Would highly recommend.

One by One is a murder mystery about 6 friends who go missing in the woods. One. By. One.
I have read most of Freida’s books and I am always trying to figure out the twist beforehand. Yet, I can NEVER get it right! The writing was so addictive I had this book finished in one setting! As always the ending is never what you except it to be.

Yet another fab book by Freida McFadden. I really enjoyed this book.

Claire was married to Noah and they had two children called Emma and Noah. Their marriage was struggling and Claire couldn’t see how it could be repaired. They were just about to set off on a week long trip with some friends and Claire was dreading it. On one hand she was looking forward to the opportunity to relax and have time to herself but on the other hand she was dreading being with Noah for a week.

Claire’s car broke down in some woods and they couldn’t call anyone as all of their phones had no signal. They opted to leave the car and their luggage and try to go on foot to the inn they had booked to stay in. That’s when things started to go desperately wrong for them.

A fab psychological thriller full of plot twists. I loved that the story was told by Claire but also by ‘anonymous’. I spent the whole book trying to work out who ‘anonymous’ was and got it wrong each time.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read most of Frieda McFadden’s books and I usually love all of them but this one missed the mark for me.
I was able to finish this book relatively quickly, like most of her books but the plot just fell short for me. This group of friends plan a trip to a resort in the woods and their car breaks down. They end up lost in the woods and they lose a friend as each day goes by.

The whole getting lost in the woods and each friend dying one by one seemed predictable and the reveal just seemed farfetched and unrealistic.

I’d pass on this one and opt for one of her other books instead

Another book by this author that was excellent! This one took place while the characters were lost in the woods. The 3 couples were interesting and varied. The story was told from the perspective of one of the woman and and anonymous character's past. It was a short book and a fast read. I read it in two sittings. It kept me guessing and I was surprised at the end. A recommended read for anyone who likes this author.

As always when reading Freida, it was a quick and thrilling read! Though I kind of figured it out, it kept me guessing myself til the very end, and it was enjoyable nonetheless! Kinda repetitive in some of the phrases and thoughts but still great!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy.

As seems to be the trend for me and this author, this is a great popcorn thriller with twists and the whole 9 yards. Great, quick read.

Yes, Freida McFadden has another book out, One by One, which is a republication from 2020. The question I asked myself is, “Does she ever sleep??” In all honesty, I was thrilled to get access to her book because she never disappoints.

Claire is going for a weeklong getaway with her husband and two other couples in Colorado. Claire’s relationship with her husband, Noah, has been rocky in the recent year, which led to her being drawn into an affair with their friend, Jack. Jack is married to Michelle, a divorce attorney, who is cold toward her husband’s friend. Lindsey is bring along her new man, Warner, who is a plastic surgeon. As the couples are almost to their remote cabin location, Claire’s minivan breaks down. Unbeknownst to the six adults, they are not all going to survive the getaway. Like McFadden’s other thrillers, this one will keep you guessing until the final reveal. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One by one gets an overall 3 stars from me. I have read a few Freida books now and I have to say, this one was good but not my favorite. The ending for sure was a shock. To learn who the anonymous person was, definitely something I was not expecting.

The story started out great then it kind of felt repetitive. I did like the little twist in the epilogue though. Freida writes amazing thrillers and I was super excited to read this one. It was a fast read, finished it in a day but I feel as if it could have been written a little better and not so fast paced.

Overall, it was a good book. Not my favorite but still good.

I thoroughly enjoyed One by One by Freida McFadden. This is my third book by this author, and once again, I devoured this story while on vacation.

I love multiple points of view in books. In One by One, chapters alternate between Claire and an anonymous narrator. I could not figure out who this mystery person was and it kept me turning the page.

Now is this book a little far fetched? Yes! But that didn't bother me. I enjoyed the story and thought the ending was great. :)

Frieda McFadden is an auto-buy author!

Many thanks to #NetGalley and @poisonedpenpress for the eARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

I am a Freida McFadden fan but I was worried that she was churning out too many books with the last few I've read being somewhat disappointing. THIS one, however, was great! Lots of twists and turns and suspects and hypothesis. A group of friends, 3 couples - 2 married and 1 dating - leave for a week at a remote inn. They get lost on the way, the car breaks down and they decide to walk the rest of the way. Unfortunately, they become lost in the woods for days. One person dies and others disappear (presumed dead) until there are 3 who finally find a cabin. Is an animal hunting them? Is there someone in the woods? Or is it one of them....and, if so, who could it be? This was truly one I couldn't put down. Highly recommend.

This was a wild ride. In One By One, we follow friends on their way on a trip when Claire's minivan breaks down on a secluded dirt road, and the group finds themselves in trouble. Tensions are high, everyone is irritable, and one by one they start dying. As the characters go, I despise all of them. Most of the POVs are from Claire and it's clear from the start that she and her husband are having marital issues, it seems that at this point she only stays due to the kids the two of them share. It is repeatedly mentioned how unhappy she is with her husband and has even been unfaithful with him.

If you're looking for something fast-paced I would suggest picking this one up when you're not wanting something that will grip you in immediately. We do a lot of character build-up at the start, and the first death doesn't happen until about 42%. I went into this blind so it didn't bother me, but once the plot starts, fasten your seatbelts. As characters die or go missing, you question who the killer may be. Freida does an amazing job at writing one of her characters as a red herring, and right up until the end I was certain they were guilty. The twist was a little out there but I loved it! I honestly love when something comes out of nowhere leaving you shocked and trying to piece things together.

If I had anything to point out is that I found the motive of it all a little strange, a character went through all the trouble for that? Hmm. Interesting. The final few lines of the book leave everything up for interpretation on what happens next - I like when things are nicely wrapped up, but still good overall.

It was ok. Didn’t have a huge plot twist. I normally read these books and flip flop with my predictions and panic at the end when I’m wrong, but I figured this one out and it wasn’t surprising.

This book was everything I’ve come to love from a McFadden thriller.
Characters that are realistic and flawed. A fast-moving and gripping plot. Constantly guessing who the bad guy might be knowing you’ll never guess correctly. Twists with twists on top.
I loved the horror type setting of a dark forest. Being outside in the wilderness after dark is a fear of mine and I felt like I was one of the characters, hoping to survive until morning.

One by One takes readers on a journey into the wilderness where a seemingly idyllic vacation turns into a nightmare. Claire and her husband Noah join friends for a week of hiking and relaxation at a luxurious hotel in the woods.

When Claire's minivan breaks down on a lonely dirt road, the group find themselves lost in the dark, forest with no cell reception.

The guessing game surrounding the killer's identity kept me hooked throughout the story. McFadden skilfully weaves suspicion, leaving you guessing until the end.

'One by One' is a book that is hard to put down, even though the ultimate reveal doesn't have the anticipated impact.

The premise of this book is simple: six friends on their way to a remote vacation are stranded in the middle of nowhere without cell service or the hope of being rescued, and as they try to find their way back through unmarked woods, they're picked off—as the title might imply—one by one. Failing marriages and their entangled, messy dynamics make motivations hard to judge and casts suspicions on each and every character involved, and if I have to be honest, I did not see that ending coming. Didn't even have the slightest clue.

Both page turner and a quick read, this one flew by, and i had the same impression of this book that I did of The Housemaid, feeling very strongly that this is would be a perfect screenplay in the making. Frieda McFadden's pared down style focuses on plot and action and moving things forward, and I'd pay to see any of her books as movies.

I enjoyed the fast pace and easy to digest chapters, how the plot unveils piece by piece through snapshots of the present and past. The underlying motive for the murders caught me off guard and didn't feel as airtight as everything else, so I didn't buy into it as much I wanted to. Otherwise, it was very much a fun read that had me doubting who the culprit was the whole time.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. The plot twist/reveal was truly surprising, and I did not see it coming. I also liked the way the author ended things. This was an overall great read for me that really kept me at the edge of my seat.
