Recently read this via NetGalley before it’s published again on 4/2/2024. I’m a recent Frieda fan and have been working my way through all her books. 6 friends embark on a week long trip but not all of them will make it home. To make matters even more difficult Claire is pretty sure her marriage is over and just trying to make it through the trip. Not quite as twisty as her other books but a quick engaging read!

This book was great! A very fast read with a lot of wondering.
Claire and her husband Noah are about to go on a couples trip with her best friend Lindsay and her new doctor boyfriend, and Noah’s best friend Jack and his wife. They’re going to a secluded cabin for a week of R/R, nature, hikes and fishing.

On the way, Claire’s minivan stalls out on a deserted road. The guys can’t fix it, so as a group decide to walk to the resort which is only a couple miles through the woods.

Pretty soon, things start happening and their friends begin to die, one by one.

This had a great twist. I thought I was right in who I thought it was, then I changed my mind, then changed it again, and turns out my first impression was correct! Love when that happens!

Another book by Freida that I just could not put down! Queen of intrigue and tension without a doubt. If I hadn’t been burned by other books before I probably would never had seen the end coming. Highly recommended!

Another fantastic novel by Freida McFadden that kept me reading well into the early hours of the morning. Claire and her husband aren't getting on, she's having an affair with his best friend and now to top it off she's going away with her husband, her lover and their best friends for a couple's trip.
This all set the scene for intrigue, murder and who dunnit. Highly entertaining

I love Freida McFadden books for all the twists and turns she puts into them and this book was no different! Right when you think you have it figured out, you don’t! I loved this book so much I finished it in a half of a day! It was an easy book to jump right into and right away had you invested in the main character and her relationship with her husband. I liked that it explored the more mundane slump a marriage can sometimes take after many years and a couple kids. Definitely recommend this book

Freida can do no wrong- another 5star book!

Hooked from the get go as per usual. Thrilling, twisty, absolutely loved it!

Highly recommend

I love any Freida McFadden book. I literally enjoy every single one of her books. All of her books include a mystery plot behind it. Which I enjoy, because it makes me want to continue reading without putting my kindle down.

3.5.
Thank you NetGalley for the copy!

I created my own theory and I was completely wrong..
I was intrigued at who the anonymous person was and who was going to be the killer.

Book was a quick read and me guessing.
I just felt like they were all adults and acted like teenagers and they just seemed.. dumb. lol.

I don’t know how she does it but each book I read I end up reading in one sitting. I can’t put them down. They are so binge worthy!

Once again I was left shocked with the twist. She has a way of dropping little hints along the way so you always changing your mind on who you think it is. Although this time I was a lot closer in my thinking!

I liked the outdoors set up it added another element of fear and anxiety to the setting. It was fast paced and kept you guessing. I actually liked the ending of this one. I don’t normally like the ending of thrillers.

Wow! This one was a great read! I definitely thought I had this one figured out but I was sooo wrong. That ending was definitely something else! Although it was a little underwhelming, it was still good.

I love how Freida McFadden’s writing always has you thinking you know what’s going on…and then you realize you were completely wrong. I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did but it was great just like her others.

I don't know how Freida McFadden, a practicing surgeon by day, manages to churn out such high caliber mysteries - and with amazing regularity!

I did NOT guess the culprit in this one! What a shocker.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire read once the van cleared the city limits and ventured into the less traveled roads of the back country.

Bickering spouses, domineering boyfriends, an affair or two.... and then one by one, the occupants of the van appear to have been carried off by a terrifying predator that leaves long, bloody slash marks at the scene of every crime. Yikes!

I won't go into more details, but I do encourage you to read this one. My eyes were glued to every page. The only reason I deducted a point was because of something that was said in the very beginning by the main character/narrator which turned out to be inaccurate. No spoilers!

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this gripping thriller in exchange for an honest review. 4.25 well done stars out of 5,

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
One by One by Freida McFadden is about Claire and her friends as they all take a break from their lives to go on a trip together. However things do not go as planned when her van breaks down on the way there and the group has to find their way to the hotel on foot and without reception. That's when it all starts to go wrong.
I loved this book! Freida McFadden is my favorite thriller author and I have yet to read one by her that I enjoyed more than Never Lie by her. This book however is a really close contender. I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this novel and the dynamics of the group. Every time I feel like I know Freida McFadden's writing and can guess the ending I am always wrong. I love that!
For the majority of the book all of the characters were unlikeable. I assume that was intentionally written that way but as the time goes on you want to root for the characters and their relationships. They go through so much and connect with each other (or disconnect) in unexpected ways. The addition of the anonymous POV was so fun!
Overall I really loved this novel and would recommend this and all of Freida McFadden's writing for any thriller lover!

I love how Freida McFadden’s writing always has you thinking you know what’s going on…and then you realize you were completely wrong. This book was no exception. As everyone keeps dying and you read the “anonymous” account, I was SURE I knew who “anonymous” was. I was wrong. Wonderful ending. Quick read. Read this in a few hours.

Oooof! Frieda! I NEVER saw that ending coming, but then the epilogue smacks me right in the face! I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to read a book by her and not be floored at the end wondering what life even is if I’m getting so stumped CONSTANTLY. This was such a great read! Anonymous really started sounding to be one character but, nope. It’s a Frieda McFadden book. I can’t believe I even try to guess at this point. I loved this one so much I read it in one sitting, missing dinner and finally eating around 11pm. The characters are your typical friend group, with some secrets. Who knows the secrets you’re hiding? Guess you’ll have to read and find out 😉

I can’t say enough good things about Freida McFadden’s writing. This book was well thought out and kept you hooked from the first page, to the epilogue. This book had me engaged and my head trying to piece the story together, and it still blew my mind. This is a great binge worthy book!

This was creepy thrilling and page turning a bit slow at first then as Frieda does it flew the story the characters and the twist and turns . We follow 3 couples going on a week get away , secrets are hidden , but now for long as they drive to Colorado they have car trouble as they approach the woods and then the brain games begin ! I knew the suspects it was pointing to wasn’t them if you know Frieda! But still kept guessing along as we read pov of Claire and some anonymous that’s our killer !
Totally didn’t see the who and why sprite was a thrilling read but not my fave they who and why didn’t make sense to me really idk but that epilogue hit!!!

Wow! What an unexpected turn. So many twists and questions. One chapter, I thought I had it figured out and the next - I was questioning everything all over again.
The book had spooky vibes, loved the setting- a woodsy vibe. The characters were very easy to follow. Great read!

Claire and Noah are heading down the road to divorce, but as they take one last trip with their friends, will it bring them closer together, or will this be the end?

This was yet another Freida read in which I did not stop reading until I was finished with the book! Her writing not only paints the best picture to set the scene and stage, but it always leads me to believe that I have it all figured out…until I don’t!

If you are looking for a fairly quick read that will have you on the edge of the your seat until the very end, this is your book!
