Something about Freida’s books makes me devour them in a day or two! This is another one that I could not put down and was entertained the entire time!!
Three couples go on a week-long trip together. But after their car breaks down, they find themselves lost in the woods without cell service and a faulty compass. Then, each friend starts to disappear ONE BY ONE.
The twists and turns of this one!! I could not figure it out and the ending was shocking and so good!! Freida has done it again. WOWED.
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the arc!

Whatever Freida McFadden writes I will read. This was a 4.5 for me. It was a fast pace murder mystery. It was a good thriller with a twisty ending.

This is one of my new favorite Freida McFadden books! I was very intrigued by the plot going in, knowing I’d love this concept and I was right. I was locked in from the second I started it. She had me guessing different twists the entire time but as usual, I did not guess correctly! I love when thrillers make you unsure of who you can trust, and I loved the anonymous POV aspect. The plot twist was great and I love how she leaves you feeling uneasy even in the epilogue every time!

Another great thriller from Frieda McFadden! She has the best way of pulling you in and hooking you until you realize you’ve devoured the entire book in one sitting and this one is no different!
One by One follows our main character Claire, her husband, and friends on a trip to a hotel in the woods. After her daughter’s worries and yet another fight with her husband, she’s reluctant to leave. However, they all take off to the secluded hotel and as they get close they lose reception and must rely on paper map instructions. Will they make it all back to civilization or will this be the final test of their marriage?
This was so fast paced and I could not put it down until I knew the ending! Frieda kept me guessing and I wouldn’t have gotten that final reveal.

2.5
Thank you to the publisher for providing me a copy of the reprint. While I enjoyed the Housemaid books, the pacing for this and some of the details of this book were off and didn't make much sense to me personally. I was invested enough to read this in (almost) one sitting but this was not my favourite from her.

WOW! I did not see that ending coming! Not as I expected at all! In typical Freida fashion! A must read!!

Claire and Noah are having a rough time in their marriage. Is this trip really necessary? Is hanging out with 4 other friends for a week in a cozy inn going to save their marriage? Claire doesn't think so. She has actually booked them separate rooms. She can't stand the thought of being stuck with Noah for a week. She is even planning to let him know that she is having an affair and is ready to leave the marriage.
The six friends pack the mini van and start off on the getaway trip. Little do they know, that only two of them will return back to normal life. The van breaks down and they decide to walk the rest of the way to the inn. Walking through the woods, they all begin to learn that no one can trust anyone. Who is really telling the truth? They quickly realize that they are in danger. But, the question is who should they be afraid of?
McFadden has written another nail-biting thriller. I was sitting on the edge of my seat while reading this book.

Claire is thrilled to go on a trip with her husband and two other couples until the car breaks down in a forest, and suddenly they are struck down one by one.
The point of view switches between Claire and Anonymous. One of the first things we learn about Anonymous is that they are planning for only one of the six to survive the journey.
This was an easy five-star read for me! I was immediately hooked and could not put the book down. I kept trying to figure out who the killer was based on the hints in the Anonymous chapters and everything that happens during their time in the forest, but Freida McFadden makes sure everyone seems suspicious, and that’s why I changed my mind all the time of who I thought Anonymous was. I particularly enjoyed the Anonymous chapters, it was interesting to slowly learn about the killers past and motives. I liked that even after we learn the truth of the killer, there is still a small mystery about what happens after the book ends.
I had a really fun time reading this book, and I can’t wait to read more of Freida McFadden’s other books!

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for a copy of Freida McFaddens book One by One. There is something about Freida McFaddens books that make it so you cannot stop reading. I did enjoy this fast pace book but I hated hot nonchalant it felt the characters where when people were being taken one by one. I would be absolutely freaking out. I loved the twist at the end because there was part of it that I saw coming but when you find out who anonymous is you’re like whoaaaaaa ok didn’t see that coming!! Overall I would recommend this book just like any Freida book.

This book had me on the edge of my seat!! Another Freida Mcfadden fantastic thriller! I’m so glad I was able to get an arc of this book. I loved the multiple plot twist, the anonymous point of you, it was a fast read and kept me constantly guessing. Like the rest of her books I couldn’t figure out who it was no matter how much I was playing detective. I would definitely recommend this book to any thriller fanatic or even if you’re looking for something to get into the thriller genre.

This is my first book by the author and I'm glad I got this opportunity. She truly deserves the hype that she is getting on Instagram and booktok.
This story has 2 narrators, Claire and Anonymous. Claire describes how much of a mess her marriage is and how much she hates her husband Noah. However she is going on a week long holiday with him and 4 others. What she doesn't know is all six of them have a secret that they can do anything to save. When they are brought down one by one, Claire starts to doubt if the danger is one of them, but can it be too late already?
Anonymous, on the other hand, provides a flashback of the past, her miserable childhood and troubled teenage, until.....the past merges with the present to make a chilling discovery.
The book is quite short, around 250 to 260 pages and fast paced. Although there are mixed opinions on this one, I personally think it was a suspenseful thriller. The characters were not likeable, but realistic. Totally didn't see the twist coming in the end.
Definitely looking forward to read more books by this author.

This book is told from Claire and Anonymous' point of view. Claire is planning on divorcing her husband Noah, but before she does she agrees to go on holiday with Noah and two other couples - Lindsay & Warner and Jack & Michelle. Claire's minivan suddenly breaks down on their way to the hotel on a dirt track and they are all stranded in the middle of nowhere.
There are lots of plot holes in this book and I have so many unanswered questions. What could make a fairly new minivan break down suddenly and for no apparent reason? Why was Claire and Noah's relationship so bad? What was going on in Jack and Michelle's relationship? If Claire had booked rooms at the hotel why didn't she have to correct address in the sat nav?
This had so much potential if a little more time and thought had gone into it. If this book had more depth and background it could have been much better. I felt it was trying too hard to hit the shock factor, that by the time it had got there I didn't really care much for characters and who survived. This is my second book by this author and I'm afraid to say I'm not a fan.
Thank you to Netgalley and Poisened Pen Press for this E-Read in exchange for an honest review.

Another great story, twisted plot line, and some strong female characters. This group of friends takes off for the week at a secluded resort. But before they get there, the car breaks down and they begin walking in this remote territory. Perfect set up for all that follows! 5 STARS!!! Freida Mcfadden does it again!

The best things this novel has going for it is it's fast-paced plot and its accessible prose. Those are probably the only things that helped me to read as far as I did- about half-way through the book. The characters felt very one-dimensional to me and uninteresting. I found it hard to be invested in what happened to them. The cliches used in this book were very obvious and put me off. This felt a little bit akin to reading a Wattpad story. I think this book would make a good palette cleanser or beach read, but it doesn't have a lot of substance for me otherwise.

Claire is having troubles in her marriage. A weekend away with her her husband and their two couple friends seems like a great idea...until they get lost....and their car won't start...and they are lost in the woods...and they start to die.
This was my first McFadden book and I'm definitely going back for more! I loved the first person POV and the multiple characters. It really gave me something to dig into as I tried to figure it all out. Claire was interesting because she's very real. She freaked out in all the same places I would! There was so much going on with these characters too. You never really know who is good and who is bad. They all have personal things they bring to the mystery that will throw you off.
I love a good closed room thriller and this is that, just set in the woods. The creepiness of being trapped in a place without food or water really gets to you as you read. The ending was satisfying for me and I liked the conclusion to all of it.
Overall, this was a great locked room, until there are none type, thriller!
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and the author for the gifted copy!

I don’t know how Frida McFadden writes so many great mysteries!? This was no exception. Claire, Noah, and 4 others embark on a getaway in Colorado. Unfortunately they have car trouble and are forced to walk through the wilderness for several days. Along the way many mysterious things happen. One by one they fall. Who will survive and who is behind it all?

I really enjoyed this one! I was captivated by the story line and found myself trying to figure out how the story was going to pan out. It was a quick read that kept me on my toes. I could not predict the ending. I found myself quickly making opinions about characters and having those opinions quickly adjusted by the characters actions. Definitely a must read for Frieda fans!

This book had a slow start but I don’t think it was fair of me to start this book while finishing the Housemaid. This is one of two of Freida’s books where I remotely guessed the twist. However, there was still one reveal that I didn’t see from a mile away. I had a thousand different theories floating in my head and any of them could have been plausible. Leave it to Freida to keep me guessing!
Definitely one of my favorites so far of her books!

I love me some Freida McFadden. 6 friends decide to take a trip together. Claire and her husband Noah, Jack and his wife Michelle, Lindsay and her boyfriend Warner. On the way to the inn where they are supposed to be staying, Claire’s minivan breaks down and they decide to walk. Now they are lost in the woods. There’s animals in there, and something sinister. One by one, each seem to die or disappear, and there’s only one that will make it home.
OMG this was SO good! I don’t know why I wanted so long to read this book. Freida always does a great job of creating a thrilling atmosphere and thrilling situations that will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning pages, until you reach the very end. And this book is no different.
Each of the characters are distinct. You feel bad for some, like others, and dislike at least one (well I didn’t care for Michelle and I do wish I had gotten to know why she is the way she is).
The chapters are mainly told from Claire’s point of view, but there are anonymous chapters in there as well. Those are the chapters of the person behind all of it. I had a few suspicions, but man I was WRONG! I love being wrong, it’s fun when you get to the reveal and you’re really surprised. That’s the best part of the book!
This is an absolutely MUST READ from McFadden.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
This book is wild.
I thought I knew who the anonymous person was early on. And then I changed my mind. And then I changed it again. And then I was wrong in the end anyway.
This is a solid book that will keep you flipping through the pages, desperate to find out what happens next.
