From start to finish, this gripping thriller held me captive, and I couldn’t tear my eyes away. McFadden’s writing is masterful, weaving suspense and dread into every page. The characters—flawed, vulnerable, and utterly human—come alive. And the ending? I like to think I’m good at predicting whodunnits, but this one blindsided me. Layers peeled away, revealing secrets I never saw coming. The revelation left me breathless, questioning everything I thought I knew.

This was the thriller I needed! I’ve been a fan of Freida McFadden from the first book of hers I read because of how gripping and addictive her writing is and One By One was no exception.
Something I love about her books is the main characters are never 100% likable or innocent and that adds an edge that I really love.
The anonymous chapters had me hooked and at least 3 different times, I was convinced I knew who the identity was and I was wrong every single time.
I really enjoyed the lost in the woods setting and the main 6 being offed ‘one by one’.

This was a fantastic book and so worth it! I love Freida a ton and this was no exception. One by One was another one of those books where you sit there and go what the heck! It is filled with thrill and suspense and horror and so worth the time to read.

Three couples go on a trip and end up getting lost in the woods where only one of them plans on making it out alive.

This was a fun little thriller that I read in a day. McFadden’s writing is addicting and easy to consume.

This book is told through two POVs- our main character, Claire and Anonymous. I honestly didn’t see the twist which is always a good thing. I thought it was silly that the characters got lost in the woods and how things kept happening but this book did exactly what I wanted it to do for me- and that was to keep me entertained!

Was this my favorite? No but I enjoyed it and honestly, McFadden has cemented herself as an autobuy author for me. I just can’t put her books down!

I did not see this one coming. You think you know the twist but you really don’t.

One By One is about three couples who set off on a getaway when their car breaks down in the middle of the mountain's. What could go wrong?

Written is dual narrative, this was a quick read with twists I didn’t see coming until the very end. The characters had annoying personalities (in the best way possible).

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

Not nearly as good as some of her others, and a bit predictable. But UT is a fast-paced light read for a stormy afternoon.
I received an ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

One By One by Freida McFadden was another unputdownable thriller! I blazed through this in less than a day.

Six people head out on a trip away from the city to rest and recharge. Nearing their destination, they become stranded in the woods and soon lost. As they begin to disappear one by one, they begin to question who, or what, may be the culprit and wonder if any of them will make it out of the forest alive.

I could literally feel my unease increase while reading and my anxiety and stress for these characters was palpable. Though I had a few guesses, I could not guess the ending!

If you’re looking for a good thriller and quick read, this one is it.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

3.5 rounded up to 4 ⭐

this book is about a group of friends who go on a road trip to a luxury cabin in Colorado, and unfortunately never get there.

this book was pretty average to a solid 4 stars. the pacing was fast to medium, the banter between the protagonist and her husband was hilarious🤣(I was cackling during some of their scenes)...but there just wasn't anything too special about it.

the twist at the end wasn't that mind blowing or shocking to me ( even though it was a good one) but it was fun trying to guess who the killer was and who the "Anonymous" narrator was.

I think what I'm trying to say is that the book wasn't that murderous, and you don't necessarily have to be a mystery reader to enjoy this book because it wasn't that heavy or long even. it was overall a very fun read which can be enjoyed in a single sitting because of how engrossing it is and how simple the novel is.

some of my notes while reading:
● Claire and her husband's bickering is so funny🤣🤣
● Claire is so obsessed with Warner. can you stop talking about how attractive he is every 3 pages?
● this is funny🤣🤣like a funny horror movie🤣🤣

This book was incredibly well written and kept me hanging on to every word. I was guessing until the very end and then reevaluated all over again. The incorporating another anonymous point of view was such a captivating addition.

What was supposed to be a couples getaway with friends turns into a nightmare. On the way to the lodge the road turns to gravel and the car breaks down. 3 couples are forced to walk to their destination but the map seems wrong and the compass isn’t working properly, are they just walking in circles? When they realize they are truly lost they have to set up camp and ration the tiny bits of food they have. But one by one they start to disappear. Who will be left? Who or what is doing this?

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC!

Congratulations to Freida McFadden for the re-release of One by One. This story follows 6 friends as they go on a couples trip. The marriage of the main characters Claire and Noah hang in the balance. This book was fast paced, easy to read like most Freida McFadden’s books.

I enjoyed the unexpected twist, but I thought it wasn’t as believable with how many people were involved. Overall a solid book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the review copy.

While I did enjoy this book, it didn’t stand out too me as anything mind blowing which I have come to expect from this author. It was just ok.

Thank you for this ARC!

This is a really fast paced book by Freida- it was such a good read and had me guessing for most of the book. And the twist at the end was amazing! Freida is one of my favorite authors and this book definitely didn’t disappoint.

Freida Mcfadden books are always a good choice.

This book was great, a bit predictable since I'm used to reading her books but great nonetheless.

If you want a quick read this is a good choice.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in return for an honest review!

Freida is one of my favorite thriller authors. She always captivates me with her plot and the twists usually get me every time. This one was no different. It follows the main character Claire, who is going on a little getaway with her husband (who she seems to despise) and four others. They end up getting lost on their journey to the cabin and it’s clear that there is something at play trying to pick them off one by one.

The tension in this book had me on my toes and wanting to keep reading. The way that the characters interact lead me to continuously make predictions. I kept second guessing each characters motives and tried to guess the ending. I did not see the plot twist coming like usual which I really enjoy when I’m reading her books, as the unpredictable-ness always makes for a more fun read. I liked the setting of the book being in the woods that added to a spooky vibe.

Recommend this if you like Freida and/or thrilling, suspenseful stories!

This is an enjoyable read, and another 4 star book for me from Freida McFadden. I got the audiobook of this from the library and devoured it in one sitting today. I enjoyed the characters, including not liking the characters, and I guessed about half of what was happening up to the end. I would recommend this to those who like other Freida McFadden books, I know I've been reading them up lately.
Entertaining and enjoyable mystery.

This fast-paced, twisty thriller finds 3 couples lost in the woods without cell phone service. One by one they began to be taken out. They are left unsure if it's an animal, a stranger, or someone in the group manipulating the situation.

I enjoyed the equally unlikeable and untrustworthy characters. I liked never knowing who to trust and finding myself coming up with theories along the way. I have to say, the viewpoint of an anonymous character added even more intrigue. I was thoroughly invested in figuring out who it was. It was not who I thought it was.

Like most Frieda McFadden books I found myself unable to put this one down. I found myself putting pieces together and figuring things out along the way, with at least one unexpected twist.

Holy twist! I did not see that comic! Per usual, I totally thought I had the ending all figured out, but things took a turn! Throughout the story I was suspicious of multiple characters. I like how it’s not given right away!

I finished One by One by Freida McFadden in a couple of hours. It’s a type of book that you can’t put down because the plot just keeps getting thicker. Again, I thought I had it all figured out which is what drove me to finish so quick because I needed to know!

I really enjoyed the two points of views as well as it only encouraged me to speculate who the Killer is!

One By One is Freida McFadden’s latest self-published novel to be re-released by Poisoned Pen Press, a Sourcebooks imprint. This is the second novel of hers I’ve read, and am hooked. The chapters are told from the viewpoints of Claire, a mother of two in a troubled marriage, and Anonymous, who remains anonymous until the final chapter. Claire, her husband, and two other couples go on a vacation in the woods together, and trouble soon starts. Who is Anonymous, and are they the one responsible? Read it and see if you can figure out the answer! Just remember that Freida McFadden always has a twist you won’t see coming!

This one only took a couple of days to read, because I was invested in finding out who was the true murderer in the group! It was suspenseful and full of twists and turns with an ending I actually did not see coming! I actually very much enjoy books that take place with the group getting lost in the woods and being targeted one by one, and this one didn't miss. Definitely a must add to your tbr!
