Thank you NetGalley and Frieda McFadden for the eARC!

This one was pretty good! I have read a few Frieda McFadden books so far, and I would probably rate this more towards my least favorite of hers, which is still a compliment because McFadden sure can write an engaging thriller! It was pretty short and very fast paced. I didn’t really find myself particularly invested in the characters as I felt they didn’t have a big backstory, but since it is shorter, that wasn’t a HUGE deal to me. I will say, I actually did predict this one. It felt a lot like the movie Devil (2010), and so since having seen that movie, this was VERY predictable to me. That being said, I still thought it was enjoyable and helped get me out of my reading slump since it was so fast paced. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quick thriller without all the extra fluff!

Freida McFadden recently became one of my favorite author. One by One had a slow build up in my opinion. I was excited when I got approved to read the arc, but this particular book didn’t have me on the edge of my chair like the previous books I’ve read from the very beginning. In that case I gave it a 3.5 early on.. But the plot twist at the end is what I was waiting on! I didn’t expect it to end the way did. I had 2 people in mind while trying to piece together clues from the anonymous chapters and what was going on while they were lost in the woods, but I was even second guessing those people! One thing for sure is that Freida doesn’t miss when it comes to a PLOT TWIST!!! Her writing is so different than other writers .. she knows just how to reel the reader in even if it starts slow. Overall, I would rate One by One 4 stars.

I am a HUGE Freida McFadden fan and this is one of my favorite reads so far! A group of six goes on a trip together to relax and have some time away, but when their van breaks down on the way to the hotel in the middle of the woods and without any cell signal, they decide they need to hike to find a signal. Before they know it, they are hopelessly lost and realize they have no idea where to go or what to do. Then, one by one, members of the group disappear. Are they being hunted, or is someone in the group itself to blame?

I read this book in a day - could not put it down. I always tell myself I'm going to take my time and savor Freida's books, and then I realize it's been a day and I can't stop! And the ending! Never expect the twists in her books - and this was no disappointment! Down to the last few pages, I was still guessing!

Five Stars!!!!

One by one
This was a great book. The story focuses on a group of friends hoping to spend some time together. There are two married couples and their friend who has started dating someone that she thinks is the one.As they begin their journey everything that could go wrong does and eventually people start having accidents, it is interesting to have friends who have known each other for a long time start to question, do you ever really know a person? As the accidents start happening, you start wondering whom can it be and who will survive.

The book keeps you in suspense from beginning auto end and the ending is wild.

I love this author and this was another great read. Definitely check out the rest of Freida’s books. You won’t be disappointed.

4 stars

This was a quick read for me. The less than 300 count pages and the high-stress thriller vibes made this hard to put down. The beginning was a bit repetitive and I feel like every thriller I have read recently is loaded with cheating. Other than those things, I really enjoyed this creepy read.

- Dual POV (one being anonymous until the end
- Suspense Thriller
- Crazy Twist at the end
- Stranded... think Blair Witch vibes

Who Should Read- Adults (maybe mature teens) handful of language, violence, mentions of cheating/lies

Thank you to NetGalley and Poison Pen Press for a free copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Frieda does it again! I can always depend on her thrillers to be fast paced, read in a day kind of books, and her newest about a group of friends going to an inn in the middle of nowhere certainly lived up to that expectation!

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
I love this authors books- she always has an exciting read that keeps me guessing!
Three couples plan a trip away to a hotel when their car stalls. They decide to hike to the hotel- two nights sleeping outside, bugs, bears, not what they planned and when one by one people begin disappearing things become very scary. Who is hunting them and why? Or is it one of them?

I read this in 3 hours and could not put it down. It's told from Clair's perspective as well as "anonymous" and begins with 6 friends going on vacation. Clair and her husband Noah are having marital issues so it is the last thing Clair wants to be doing right now but maybe she'll finally have the courage to tell him that it's over. Jack and Melissa are seemingly unhappy as well. Lindsay has brought her new boyfriend and seems to think that he's going to propose this week but Clair gets a weird vibe from him. One by one they begin dying/disappearing. Who is doing this and why??

This book will grip you from the beginning and you'll have to see it through to the end. Another great read from Freida!!

Meh. I used to be a die-hard Freida fan but I'm on my way out. It's like she is just a factory pushing out books with no real substance anymore. The twists are becoming more predictable.

FreidaMcFadden does not disappoint with this thriller. When the long time friends go on their getaway, it is not long before things go wrong. The reader is left to wonder if it was a creature, monster, hunter or a member of their own party responsible for the killings. This book has a great twists and an ending that makes one wonder. One by One is an engaging fast read that will keep one guessing until the very end.

This book hooked me from the first page! I’m never let down by Freida McFaddens books! The amount of detail and plot twists she can pack in is amazing! She has to be my favorite thriller author! 4.3 stars for this book!!

A fairly standard 'lost in the woods on a hike with no equipment' scenario as 3 couples plan to go to a luxury spa retreat.
Immediately it felt clichéd with various sexual.shenanigans and character traits based on their looks - blonde swishy ponytail = happy and lovely. Black hair scraped into a bun= unlikeable ice queen.
I found the whole situation of being lost for 3 days yet only 2 miles away from the spa totally unbelievable considering all 6 adults were well educated and in fantastic jobs.
It was a no from me.

What a great thriller this book is. Three couples start out on a week away at a secluded Inn. One couple is having a marriage crisis, another married couple and a couple in a new romance. As they approach to road to the Inn the battery in the minivan dies. The six start to walk the rest of the way, about two miles to the Inn according to the map. There is fear and paranoia as day turns to night and they are hopelessly lost. The six become five after an unexpected accident. Soon there will be fewer as one by one they disappear. There are no time jumps, just memories of the past that brought them all together. It's a pulse pounding thriller and full of surprises and twists. From the start to the very end this book will keep you guessing. It's very scary and a real edge of your seat story that I highly recommend.

What a fun read! I always love when a book keeps me guessing and wanting more. One by One did exactly that! This was my first experience with a Freida McFadden story, and it did not disappoint. Known for her shocking twists, I kept trying to imagine what turn the outcome could take. I still didn’t guess it right!

So many elements came together to make the story interesting, topics of divorce, marriage, traumatic childhoods, friendships, and more brought the suspense to life and made this thrilling murder mystery feel not so out-of-reach to reality.

The writing style was easy to follow and offered just enough detail to connect the mystery at the end. I will be exploring more titles by this author and I can’t wait!

I did not like this one as much as I have others of hers, but it was a twisty tale that stayed a step ahead most of the way through. I predicted a few major plot lines, which isn't typical for a Mcfadden read. Good overall.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a quick read as I had to find out what is going to happen next! This is a suspenseful mystery where six friends are off to a cabin getaway in the woods for a couples, relaxing, week-long vacation. Claire reluctantly agreed to go as this would be a break from the stresses of work and her young children. A chance to repair her damaged marriage.

The first group consist of Claire and Noah who met in college, have two kids, and are only staying together because of the kids. Her daughter had a bad dream as well and she's not sure she should even go on this trip.

The second group consists of Claire's best friend from college, Lindsey who has been dating Warner, and is excited to introduce him to the others.

Last, there's Jack, Noah’s best friend also from college, and Jack’s wife, Michelle, a divorce attorney.

The chapters in the story, alternate between Clair’s POV and Anonymous.

On the way to the cabin, Claire’s minivan breaks down on a lonely dirt road. With zero cell reception, the group has no choice but to walk the rest of the way. After all, it's only 2 miles away.....

Soon, they realize they are lost in the woods, and then one by one each of the members disappear mysteriously.

One by one, they will get what they deserve...

Can one of the six be responsible for the twists and mishaps in their trip? or are they being hunted by something in the dark woods?

Only one of them will return home alive…and Claire must figure out how to survive this nightmare vacation.

Excellent quick read. So many plots and twists right through to the last page. Brilliant writing again by Freida and was so lucky for this early read by Netgalley

This book is addicting like all of Freida’s books are! I was so curious what would happen and next thing I knew, I had less than 100 pages left, so finished it all in one day. I didn’t know who to trust and there were some crazy plot twists that I did not see coming by the end!! Even in mysteries/thrillers, I always prefer a hopeful/optimistic ending, and I didn’t love the darker note this one ended on. Overall, a page turner with some dark themes and a surprising twist at the end.

Thank you NetGalley for sending this book for review consideration!

Freida McFadden is one of my favorite authors! I was so excited to get the opportunity to review this book! While this wasn't my favorite book by her, it is such a suspenseful binge worthy read!

This story follows Claire, a stressed out mother who needs a little get-a-way from her young children. While on her trip, with her husband, and friends, their van breaks down in a scary wooded area. I mean what could possibly go wrong??
The only option is to walk to the cabin, which shouldn't take too long as long as someone knows the way.
One by one they find out getting to the cabin might not be an option, and slowly their dark past is proving to be apart of the problem.
