One by One Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
This is my third Frieda McFadden book and so far out of the three I read it’s probably my least favorite.
I will say that I was really gripped by the plot and ate it up in about 2-3 sittings. Frieda McFadden has a way of writing that really intrigues the reader….you just have to know what is going to happen.
This book is kind of giving “and then there were none” by Agatha Christie vibes. It’s an isolated setting with an element of mystery and eccentric and frightening characters.
This one had my scared! I’ll admit I had no idea what was going to happen. I was shocked at who ended up being the culprit, but I just didn’t love how the ending fell into place.
There were parts of this book that just didn’t feel realistic, and the characters behaved in ways that were a little out there. I think this one is worth the read if you like isolated psychological thrillers, perfect for Halloween!
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the free review copy!

This was a fun read. Perfect for spooky season. I love Frieda books. I think they’re suspenseful and easy to read. I thought I had a read on the plot and how it was going to go. Some guesses were correct but I wasn’t expecting the major plot twist. I liked how the ending was left a mystery as well. Like Noah’s true intentions on the hike. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this copy. 4/5

"One by One" by Freida McFadden is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Set in a remote location, the story follows a group of people whose lives intertwine in a deadly game of survival as secrets are unveiled and trust disintegrates. McFadden expertly builds tension with her sharp prose and well-timed twists, ensuring that just when you think you have it all figured out, another surprise awaits.

I enjoyed this book.
A group of college friends are planning a trip out to a cabin to relax. Their van breaks down and they try to walk to the cabin but get lost in the woods. Every one in this book has secrets. I liked the perspective of the anonymous narrator. I didn’t know who it was. The book was fast paced and interesting.
Thanks to netgalley for a copy of this book!

another fun little McFadden! wow she churns her books out quite fast tho but this ones pretty good too!

Another amazing book by Freida! The storyline, twists and turns WOW! She is my must read the second a new books comes out!!

This book is about three couples getting away for a vacation for the week. The drive to their hotel takes them off the beaten path. But car trouble stops them in their tracks before they can make it to the hotel. Now they must navigate the woods with no cell reception and an odd looking map. Who will make it out alive?
Freida McFadden loves her end of book twists. The only bad thing is once you start reading her books you know to expect it.
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this arc.

I really liked that this was a quick read. I thought I had the twist figured out so many times. I wouldn’t have predicted the ending. I enjoyed this!

Love Frieda! All of her book are so easy to read and keep me hooked! The twist was so fun and was predictable

Always love a thinker by Freida McFadden. The twist will always have you guessing in the best way possible. So glad I got to read this

Very and then there were none vibes ✨
But because of that, felt like I knew what was going to happen. Definitely still had some surprises and some good twists, but just the fact that I guessed a good chunk took away a little bit for me personally.
HOWEVER, just like all her other books, super fun and fast paced! I flew thru this in a day and it was the perfect palette cleanser!

True to Frieda McFadden fashion this is another book that will easily be binged! A group of 6 friends are traveling to enjoy a weekend in the woods but when their car breaks down, they decide to walk the remainder of the way to the retreat, where they one by one begin to get picked off.
Told from different perspectives (which I absolutely love) This book was filed with twists and kept me hooked! It was like watching a movie!
I am new to FM books but I will definitely be reading more!
Received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

A very easy weekend read. This book got my attention right off the bat and the story moved quickly. There was never a lull in the story so it was easy to keep reading. The story was simple but also unpredictable. I truly didn’t know how it would play out ahead of time.

If Miss Freida McFadden writes it, I 👏🏽WILL 👏🏽 READ👏🏽 IT 👏🏽
Thank you for the ARC, this one was as much of a page turner as her other books. Couldn't put it down once I started.

Another well done thriller by Freida McFadden. Was immediately caught in the book during the first chapter and stayed that way until the end. This is now one of my favourites by McFadden!

Wow! How could you not be instantly intrigued when the first line is “I don’t know when I started to hate my husband.” This captivating, addictive thriller could easily be devoured in a single sitting. Three couples embark on a week-long getaway only to be faced with danger and possibly murder around every corner. I was completely drawn to the anonymous chapters that were disturbing and filled with clues of the impending doom faced by the horrified six who were forced into survival mode. Fast-paced, entertaining, and utterly unputdownable describe this must-read thriller. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for my copy.

Have you ever picked up a book that pulls you in so fast, you can’t put it down until the very last page? That’s exactly how I felt reading One by One by Frieda McFadden. I was hooked from the start and found myself eagerly turning pages, desperate to uncover the next twist in this thrilling mystery. McFadden truly knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat, and One by One did not disappoint.
The story follows a group of strangers stranded in a remote cabin during a snowstorm. One by one, people begin to disappear, and the tension is palpable as the survivors start to turn on each other. McFadden’s ability to create an atmosphere that feels both claustrophobic and suspenseful is impressive, and she keeps you guessing until the very end.
I loved the fast pace and the way McFadden balances character development with plot twists. Each character felt distinct, and the way their secrets were slowly revealed added to the mystery. Every time I thought I had it figured out, McFadden would throw in a new twist that left me questioning everything.
The ending was absolutely satisfying, tying up all the loose ends while leaving just enough mystery to make me eager for more. I can’t wait to dive further into Frieda McFadden’s world, her writing is gripping, clever, and utterly addictive.
If you love a good psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns, One by One is a must-read. It’s easily one of my favorite books of the year, and I’m excited to see where McFadden takes me next!

One by One by Freida McFadden kept me reading with all its twists and turns! When Claire leaves her kids to take a break and go on a trip with her husband and friends, everything wrong. Their vehicle breaks down, and they get hopelessly lost. Then someone dies. Will Claire make it home to her children?

The plots and twists of this is good but in some parts it felt like it went on and on, until it didn’t and became intense.. The thrill of “who dun-it” was captivating enough for me to want to read to the very end as the plot thickens.

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the e-ARC of the book.
Claire and her husband go on a vacation with a group of their old friends and their significant others. Things start getting out of hand when their car break in the middle of the woods and the whole crew has to walk in the dark with no cell phone connection. The title “One by one” speaks for itself as friends get in trouble.
This book is a nice thriller that is fast-paced with some twists here and there.
