Well well well!
This book was a hell of a ride..
It had me hooked from the first chapter.
All of Freida’s books blow my mind.
I will say, i wasn’t as shocked by the twists in this book however it was still done so well.
I can’t wait to start my next Freida book 😊

a fast paced, easy to read thriller. as is signature of mcfadden's writing, the book flows well and is easy to get into. suspense is created and you're kept on your toes- though this one was not as well done as some of her other works, i liked it well enough to read in one sitting. at times i foresaw twists, but it wasn't anything that ruined the experience. 3.5 stars, a fun read. mcfadden knows how to write her thrillers.

Three couples have booked a week away in a wilderness lodge in Colorado. Claire and her husband Noah are looking forward to a break from work and caring for their two children. Recently their marriage has been rocky and they have grown apart so this break could either help to mend it or end it. The other two couples going are Noah’s best friend Jack and his lawyer wife Michelle and Claire’s best friend Lindsey and her new boyfriend, Warner, a handsome doctor.
It's a four our trip to the lodge so they decide to all travel in Claire’s six-seater minibus. When they enter the woods on the way to the lodge, they lose their GPS signal and have to rely on a hand drawn map Werner has brought along, which takes them deeper and deeper into the woods on little travelled tracks. When Claire’s car breaks down, they must venture off on foot to find the lodge. Apart from ex-boy scout Jack, they are inadequately equipped (both mentally and physically) for a trek in the woods and soon become hopelessly lost.
The title gives a hint of what happens next, but you won’t be prepared for the twists and turns that ramps this up to a nightmare of a trip. The novel is mostly narrated by Claire, whose voice does get a bit repetitive, constantly thinking about how bad her marriage is and how much she is missing the kids even though she hasn't even started her vacation yet. Interspersed with Claire's narration are chapters from an anonymous narrator, who is clearly one of the group with some shocking secrets in their past and some nasty plans for the group..
While I enjoyed the read and the major twist, it all seemed a bit ludicrous that a group of supposedly smart people going off to a hunting and fishing lodge were all so inept and ill-prepared to be out in the wild (had they never been hiking?). The plot never succeeded in scaring me and felt more like a parody of a group getting lost in the woods, although it was strangely fun to see what was going to happen to the group next. However, it is a quick entertaining read, but not all that thrilling and certainly not horror, even with the giant claw marks, bigger than a bear’s, on the trees!

This novel kept my heart rate up. I thought for sure I knew who was behind the mysterious disappearances but BOY WAS I WRONG. This was full of twists and turns and the mini twist at the end left me shocked and appalled. McFadden does a fantastic job of wrapping everything up at the end of her novels, and then throwing a wrench in the happily ever after during the very last chapter. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good mystery.

What would you do if you had a week long couples trip but you and your husband hate each other. On the way to the hotel your car breaks down and you're stranded in the woods trying to walk your way to the hotel . Only you and your group of friends are lost and one by one your friends are disappearing. This story was good but I was underwhelmed. I wanted the twist to be more and the story to be faster in pace. I think Freida is an amazing writer and the credit she gets is well warranted. I think her newer releases give more to the thrill . This was still a solid read and I would recommend to readers who want to get into psychologic thrillers.

Fast, delicious, thrilling read by the Queen of Scream, Freida McFadden! Six friends go on vacation to a secluded inn, but never quite make it there. One by one, they start to drop dead under mysterious circumstances. But why? And who is responsible? You'll want to read this book in one sitting!

I loved this! I read it in one day. It was such a compelling read, I couldn’t put it down. Fast paced and keeps you intrigued throughout its entirety. Frieda has done it again! Absolutely reccomend!

Frieda McFadden just writes fun and engrossing twisty thrillers and I am always here for it! One by One is about three couples who head to a luxury hotel in the woods but their car breaks down no the way and they are stuck and lost in a dark forest. Tensions rise and relationships are tested, and at the same time people start disappearing which does not help their situation.
The book was well paced, with well written characters who are flawed and you don't like but works so well for the story. It was a gripping thriller that I didn't want to put down and will definitely recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!

Thanks Netgalley for a copy of this book! This was my second Frieda Mcfadden book and I really enjoyed it. It’s about 3 couples who are heading to a week long vacation at an inn and when their car breaks down things go from bad to worse. This was a creepy, lost in the woods book and it held my attention the whole time. I didn’t love the ending but overall still really good!

Currently obsessed with reading Freida McFadden.
One by one reminded me of Agatha Christie’s writing style. The twist did shock me and reminder me of The Fury that was released this year. I did enjoy how all the characters intertwined into each other.

One by One by Freida McFadden is one humdinger of a twisty survival thriller blanketed with tension so heavy it can be slashed with a knife. Or a creature's claws. As layer upon layer of deceptions were revealed, I practically felt like gnawing on my arm in breathless anticipation.
Claire, her husband and a handful of friends headed to a luxury hotel in the woods for a blissful break. But after a vehicle breakdown, the friends get lost in the dark forest. Morale is low, as are rations. All is not what it seems and tensions run high. Marriages are in turmoil and friendships tested. Alarmingly, they start disappearing which tends to exacerbate problems.
The characters are unlikable but well written. Combined with a brisk pace, the twists came rapid-fire fashion which had me greedily hankering for the ending, yet I wasn't ready to get off the ride. Some outdoors aspects are implausible but very gripping nonetheless.
My sincere thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this propulsive and addictive novel.

Freida does it again!
Aside from "Never Lie" and "The Housemaid Series", this has to be one of my favorite Frieda books! It kept me guessing the entire read through. I knew there was a killer, and that it had to be one of the 6 friends, however I was unsure who it was. Many times I'd guess one person, then consider the next, then another person, and I guess that's what makes a good psych thriller, right?! The book has 2 POVs- Claire and "Anonymous", and "Anonymous" has been through A LOT and deals with so much trauma! The identity of "Anonymous" blew my mind!
The story's premise was a bit cliché in my opinion, however the multiple plot twists were worth it!
Thank you NetGalley, Poisoned Pen Press, and the gifted Freida McFadden for another wonderful read!

This was a fun and quick read that I truly enjoyed.
Six adults (3 couples) take off on a week-long trip of relaxation that quickly turns into a deadly nightmare.
Right away things start to go wrong when Claire's minivan breaks down on a country dirt road. One by one they start to go missing. There is an unknown narrator which truly kept me guessing until the very end. This book has several twists and turns that shocked me and kept me entertained. This was super-fast paced and fun to read.
Thank you so much, Net Galley and Poisoned Pen Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Leave it to Freida McFadden to write another thriller which keeps us on the edge of our seats from beginning to end. Just when you thought you had it figured out, there's another twist, and you just want to keep reading to find out what happens next! This is a fun, fast paced book you can't put down.

FRIEDA!!! Man I love Frieda McFadden’s novels. The plots are so twisty and keep me on the edge of my seat. This one was no different! Huge fan, excellent novel. Definitely recommend if you loved The Housemaid. This book will keep you guessing until the very end! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Frieda McFadden for this eARC.

Freida McFadden does it again! Although it wasn't my favorite of hers because I thought it was a little slow towards the middle, I still devoured it in a day. I genuinely didn't see any of the plot twists coming and it kept me on my toes.

I LOVED this one. I’m a big Freida fan already, but I love the twists and turns in this one, especially since I honestly didn’t guess a single one. This kept me on the edge of my seat and only took me a couple days to finish. I felt like I was with the characters throughout the entire book, and it seemed like I was right along with them “for the ride” of the book. Definitely a thrilling read, and I highly recommend it!

This is a perfect intro book to Frieda McFadden’s psychological thrillers! It fell a little flat and didn’t have the gravitas of her later works, but still a quick and interesting read!!
Thank you to #NetGalley & #PosionPenPress for the ARC copy of this re-release in exchange for my honest review.

Another great Freida book! I really enjoyed it, even though I found it to be a bit more predictable then usual. Loved the tension between all of the characters and the Anonymous POV really made the whole thing more creepy haha

6 friends went for a camping trip but one by one, they all start to die or go missing. Is someone from the group involved or is it a monster in the woods?
As always, Frieda McFadden created a fast paced thriller with so many twists and turns
