I love Frieda McFadden. Of course I couldn’t guess who the anonymous person was. I assumed it was Noah or Jack. At one point I thought it was Michelle. This book will have you guessing One by One who could be the anonymous character. This was not my favorite book so I’m giving it a four star review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hollywood Upstairs Press for the arc so I could give my honest review.

The good thing about this book, it was a very fast read. I did do a lot of eye rolling at the same things being said over and over. We get it you hate your husband and what's her name is perfect and the boyfriend is great looking. I found a few errors in plot that annoyed me....
All in all, it was just ok. The storyline could have been great, it just wasn't put together great. Too many holes.
Thank to netgalley, poisoned press and the author for the chance to read this advanced copy.

I just finished One by One by Freida McFadden. Now Freida, she always knows how to keep you on your toes with these twisty stories of hers. This one wasn't quite as edge of your seat as some of her other books, but it was still a fun thriller ride. The title kind of gives a glimpse into the storyline. I don't want to give anything away so you'll just have to read it yourself to see how everything plays out. If you're already a fan of Freida, I'd say it's definitely worth a read

I read this last year but when the opportunity arose to read it again, I just had to! I love all of @fmcfaddenauthors books so much! I loved trying to figure out what’s going on and who is behind it! Freida is really good as tricking you into thinking you’ve figured it all out just to realize, NOPE! You don’t know everything! I will forever recommend all of her books to everyone!!!

- What happens when 6 friends head off on a vacation at a secluded Inn and end up getting stranded in the woods? They start mysteriously dropping one by one and with zero cell reception they can’t call for help. Are they being hunted, or is it one of them doing this to the others?

- Of course I tried to figure it out the whole time and true to Freida fashion, I was wrong and thoroughly SHOCKED. One by one was such a fantastic mystery and I promise you will not see the ending!!

- One By One will be released 4/2/24. Go snag your copy now!!

Frieda McFadden has done it again. This book had me sitting at the edge of my seat. From the first page I was hooked. Page after page it had you guessing what was going to happen next, and making guessing at who the murderer was. I started out making notes as soon as I started and was still wrong in the end.

From a multiple perspectives, one from the main character Claire and the other from Anonymous (the murderer). It was a different view point behind why the murderer had done what they had done and provided different aspects of their life.

Starting out from a supposedly romantic getaway turns into a train wreck of murders and a plot twist like no other..

A classic “who done it” read that will keep you at the edge of your seat and wanting more.

I love Freida McFadden books but this one fell flat for me. I am a big fan of a locked room revamp and the plot of 3 couples lost in the Colorado woods. As well, the alternate chapters of Claire and Anonymous was an effective writing device but it just felt lacking the authors usual oomph that draws me in. However, I did find the ending satisfying with McFadden’s usual twisty wow factor but I felt there needed to be more substance in the middle. Also, I wasn’t particularly drawn to any of the characters like I usually am. Overall, this is a decent paced thriller that provides just enough detail to hook the reader.

My rating 3 out of 5

Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this eARC that will be released April 2 2024.

Freida McFadden does it again. The dynamic of all the couples in this book were very relatable. While some of the characters can be annoying that is part of the charm of her books. This story is about a trip between lifelong friends. The car breaks down on the way and they start to be hunted. the twists and turns were so good and right as I would suspect someone, something new would happen and my suspicion would shift. I love the who done it is never revealed until the very end and even then, twists keep coming. I enjoyed this book just like all the others the author has written. Thank you so much for this one Netgalley, it made my day to read this ARC.

That was a captivating thriller! I couldn’t not put this book down and read it in a day. I can always count on Freida’s books to keep me entertained. I love how she always throws in a good twist at the end of her books!

ARC Review? Re-release? Either way, I liked it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A group of three couples are driving out of town to spend six days at a secluded inn. When they are two miles from their destination, the van breaks down and there’s no cell service to call for help. They decide to walk the rest of the way through a forest, but soon lose their way. And one by one, the friends start to die. Who is doing this to their group, and why?

I’ve read a decent amount of locked room/And Then There Were None retellings, and this one was pretty good. Not the best, but still one you can rip through and leave feeling satisfied. I’m a sucker for all Freida McFadden books though, and I always read her latest release.

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A beautifully dark and thrilling page turner. Claire and Noah are having marriage struggles but they are going on a weekend with two other couples. Their car breaks down on the journey and they are stranded. Tensions rise and old grudges and new secrets come out.

This is a pacey read with well-drawn and nuanced characters. Lots of twists in the plot to keep you engaged, very readable, highly recommend.

I’d like to thank Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘One By One’ written by Freida McFadden in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Claire’s marriage to Noah has hit a bad patch and she’s dreading the six-day break that’s been arranged at a luxury inn with their friends Jack and Michelle, and Lyndsey and her new boyfriend Warner. Things get off to a bad start when their minivan breaks down on a track miles from anywhere, and as they walk through the dense forest trying to find their way back to civilisation the members of their party are mysteriously disappearing one by one.

‘One By One’ is an amazing spine-chilling psychological thriller with chapters narrated alternately by Claire and a person known only as ‘Anonymous’ who intends for five of their party to die before the week is over. From the start there’s suspense, intrigue, shocks and surprises galore as their party members disappear and I’ve been unable to stop reading until the twists and turns have finally revealed the identity of the anonymous person. This is an excellent thriller that’s brilliantly written that I couldn’t put down and read in under twenty-four hours. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of One by One by Freida McFadden

This was my first book by Freida McFadden and I definitely understand the hype about her books.
This was a really fast paced read and I almost couldn’t put the book down, because I just had to figure out who it was.
I had different suspicions about who the killer was throughout the story but the ending definitely took me by surprise and I didn’t see it coming.

So I highly recommend this book if you want a book that is fast paced and that you can’t put down🤩

** I received this as an ARC through NetGalley. Thank you, NetGalley for this book.**

In this gripping tale, Claire Matchett's vacation takes a nightmarish turn when her group gets lost in the woods after their minivan breaks down. As they struggle to find their way back, members of the party start to vanish mysteriously. With each passing moment, the chilling realization dawns that only one of them will survive the ordeal.

Overall rating: 3.6/5

Ratings:
1. **Plot and Storytelling:** 3/5 I found this book to be quite engaging, though it didn't hold my attention entirely throughout. Nonetheless, it delivered a well-told story that kept me interested.

2. **Characterization:** 4/5 While some characters tested my patience, I appreciate that their flaws contributed to their believability. Overall, I found the characters to be well-developed and multidimensional.

3. **Writing Style:** 5/5 I'm a big fan of Frieda McFadden's writing style. Her knack for crafting fast-paced thrillers with just the right amount of detail always keeps me hooked.

4. **Originality:** 3/5 While the twist was unique, I felt that the overall premise of the story was somewhat familiar. However, the author's execution added fresh elements to the narrative.

5. **Emotional Impact and Resolution:** 3/5 Although this book didn't evoke strong emotions in me, it still provided a satisfying resolution. While it didn't leave me on the edge of my seat like some thrillers do, the ending tied up loose ends effectively.

Would I reread this book? Yes. I’d recommend you get it if you have Kindle Unlimited or library access. I think Frieda has better thrillers but this was enjoyable.

If you enjoyed this book, I recommend you check out more of Frieda McFadden‘s writing. My favorites are Never Lie and The Housemaid.

One by One is a fast paced, hold your breath read that will have you wanting to stay close to home for awhile.

Three couples are on their way for a week getaway to a hotel an annual event for most of them.

Claire and Noah are struggling in their marriage and things are tense between them.

Claire's van breaks down and the six of them decide to walk to the hotel.

That is does not go well.

One by one the group is reduced and the bodies are piling up.

Claire and Anonymous are the POV's.

Anonymous adds to the chill factor.

No one can trust anyone .

You will be looking over your shoulder and wondering to the end who is doing this.

Clear your schedule, warn your family that you will be reading until the final page.

Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for a nail biting read.
