I just ordered my copy of the book thru BOTM and now NetGalley have a book club kit! I’m here for it! Now I can use it on my platform!!!

This is set to be our April Book Club. The kit was a great addition. Our library plans to buy 4 copies

I downloaded this to read along with my copy once it arrived. Just at a glance I already love how fun and useful it will be. I’m a big fan of playlists too so that section made me exceptionally happy!
Thanks so much We Are Bookish and NetGalley for the download.

This is an excellent resource! I just got the book and am hoping this will be our next book club pick so I can utilize this kit. I haven’t looked through the whole thing (to avoid spoilers) but it looks very well put together and I’ll update once I use it. Thanks for putting this together!

Such a great book club kit. Very well formatted and amazing topics for discussion, thank you so much for providing this kit.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book and when I saw the Book Club Kit, I had to get it. If your book club is reading this book, then this kit will help you prepare a fun and immersive experience for your group. The author interview gives you a little behind the scenes about writing the book and characters. There is a content warning about the challenging topics in this story. There is a good selection of discussion questions. I haven't tried them yet, but there were cocktail and food suggestions that pair nicely with the 1920s. There are several specialty, book cover themed bookmarks you can print out for your meeting. I was nicely surprised by the suggestions to create a 1920s themed experience from dress to dancing to speakeasy ambiance. The author created a fantastic playlist with 12 songs of the era that you can play on Spotify. There were also suggestions about What to Read Next. I would agree that Wild Women and the Blues by Denny S. Bryce pairs nicely with this book for 1920s Chicago and The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson pairs nicely to explore the class divides and the Black elite in 1950s Washington, DC.
If you are planning to read The Mayor of Maxwell Street with your book club, I would highly recommend this kit to enhance and enrich your experience discussing this amazing book.

I love these book club kits because they include great information for running a fun book club event while discussing the book. The kit for The Mayor of Maxweel Street includes author interview, discussion questions, bookmarks, and recommendations on what to read next.
This kit also includes drink recipes, book club bites, and a step into the 20's guide to make your book club experience authentic and relating to the book. This is such a fun way to bring your book club together to discuss the book.
I haven't read this book yet, but I'm saving the kit so my book club and I can discuss it in the future.

Are you in a book club? Looking for a good book for your next meeting? Interested in historical fiction and the experiences of Black characters? Want a good resource filled with book info, discussion questions, an interview and more? There are even menus and suggestions of other books to read. If you answer yes, look no further.
This book club kit is an excellent one. However, note that there are some spoilers in this kit.
Many thanks to NetGalley for this resource. All opinions are my own.

I love this book club kit! It's both aestetically pleasing and comprehensive. Gorgeous layout, which includes: an author interview, recommendations for upcoming reads, games, a playlist, recipes and discussion questions. I wish there was a kit like this for all books. I'd be more apt to pick up certain books for my book club. The work is done and looks like the making of a good time.

What a great guide! The bookmarks are so beautiful and vibrant. I truly enjoyed the author's interview. I am looking forward to using this during my book club discussion of this novel. And what's better than a playlist to go along with the book you're reading? The songs on the playlist are perfect to listen to while reading the book, or at any other time. The "What to Read Next" section has books that I am adding to my TBR list! Thank you NetGalley and We Are Bookish!

This was a book club gift. No feedback to give. Seems very comprehensive and will be great for a book club.

Considering the fact that this book was available for downloading, it's unfortunate that it never made it to my Kindle. While I know I can buy it from Amazon, I'm not going to, I'll just forego reading it.

Appreciate this kit so much!! My book club will be utilizing this kit this month as this is our first read of the month. The questions provided, author story, and also the back story of the book is included and also recs, I definitely recommend to download!

What a great resource for book clubs! I wish NetGalley would have more of these. I am a creator and administrator of an Instagram Bookclub with over 80 members. The material provided in these kits would be great to help with discussion, make teaser posts, and really bring the book to life.

The book club kits are incredible! Talk about the best way to have a meaningful and immersive book club discussion.
This book club kit includes an author interview, food and drink pairings and what to read next. The level of detail is next level and I can’t wait to see what other book club kits are released.

I love the free Book club kits. They make discussing these books so much easier, The bookmarks are solute, they have recipes and questions. Even author interviews. Thanks NetGalley.

This is a brilliant tool for anyone looking to use The Mayor of Maxwell Street for a book club or looking to learn how to research for a book club. The questions are thought provoking but not too challenging as to cut off discourse. I particularly enjoy the inclusion of the food inspiration and drink inspiration! I hope We are Bookish puts together even more of this helpful guides!

This was a fun little way to dissect all that is great about this book! I know my friends are going to love doing this with me!

Coming from a country where discussion book clubs are not that common, I always find it fascinating how people find so many discussion topics in one book. This is a very nice companion, I loved the ideas for drinks and dress-ups. Makes me want to read the original book even more.

This Book Club Kit would be the perfect companion to any book club meeting on The Mayor of Maxwell Street by Avery Cunningham. I loved how interactive the activities in this kit were and how every aspect of a book club meeting was catered for. My favourite pages were the playlist page and the cocktail suggestions. The design of this kit is also beautiful and I thought it was laid out really nicely so was easy to read.
