Rainy days call for a recap on an adorable beach read I just finished ☀️🍉👙 @wendyfrancisauthor #dreamingofsummer

Memorial Day, three sisters all going through a whirlwind, a weekend together, but a body discovered in the lake. Wow! This one kept me hanging on until the end. Kate, from the outside in has the perfect life, finds out her husband cheated, and was involved in a work scandal. But their little girl is confused as to why her dad was kissing someone else. Bree, a struggling artist is being called by debt collectors, behind on rent, and can’t figure out her love life. She is three months behind in rent, and takes off to surprise visit her sisters and ask for help. Shelby, divorced mom, finds herself entangled with a married man, but is trying to get out of it. Her business is thriving, but she feels completely shattered everywhere else in her life. All the sisters keep their secrets hidden, until they all put them on the table. As they try to work through each problem, another one arises. A fellow policewoman they were friends with, questions them about a body that was discovered after a party they hosted at their house. I always love Wendy Francis and how she allows the reader to connect with the characters. You just felt for each one, and hoped for a happy ending, but knew it’d get stinky before it got better. Add Feels Like Summer to your TBR list. It comes out May 27. Thank you @wendyfrancisauthor @netgalley @lakeunionauthors for this advance copy! #summerreads #feelslikesummer #wendyfrancis

This was a really good book and at a beach town like I enjoy. 3 sisters coming together for the summer due to issues in each of their lives. They get to enjoy the summer all together like they used to while trying to figure out what’s next.
The only thing that really took me out of the story was the police investigation. While I understand some police activity was necessary to solve the accident, it could have just been woven into the story and not separated into its own chapters. It really felt disjointed.
Despite that it is the perfect summer read..

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

Three sisters, Shelby a successful realtor who is dating someone she shouldn’t have , Kay who married well, but her husband is never home and Bree, a struggling artist that is reeling from a recent breakup are on Hull, Massachusetts to enjoy the first holiday of the summer season.
Full of family drama, secrets and a boating mishap, this summer season is not what the sisters expected. Can they weather the problems in each of their relationships, or will this be the season that breaks the bonds of these sisters? It was fast paced. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed the read. Thank you Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the early copy. This review is my opinion.

This one’s for the beach! Set on the Massachusetts coast, Feels Like Summer follows three sisters who are all at crossroads in their lives. Older sister, Shelby is a divorced, single mom with a great career and good friends but is having an affair with the coveted local vet (who turns out to be a dog!); middle sister Kate has the perfect life as a stay-at-home mom married to a wealthy attorney, until she finds him cheating and lying and the life she knows starts to fall apart; youngest sister Bree is a floundering artist who shows promise but has yet to hit her stride, and her break-up with an older and more mature girlfriend sheds light on the fact that she has yet to really launch into responsible adulthood. The sisters convene in Hull, MA for Memorial Day when secrets and betrayals come to light, throwing their world into chaos until tragedy brings them together to realize what is most important.

I enjoyed the setting of this book—it made me want to steal away and spend some time on Shelby’s stretch of beach. Toes in sand, book in hand!

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Looking at this you already know it’s a perfect summer read but I have to say, it would be absolutely ideal to bring on your summer vacation. It’s light and gossipy, plenty of drama and intrigue and has a pretty summer setting that makes you feel like you’re already on vacation anyway. This is a family drama that follows three sisters who are all at pivotal moments in their lives. I love a story about sisters and Kate, Bree and Shelby were entertaining and relatable at times. Besides an interesting family dynamic there is also a mystery sub plot that was a pleasant surprise. If you want an escapist read with all the summertime vibes this was really enjoyable.

Set throughout Memorial Day Weekend, this book intertwines the tale of three sisters each going through individual struggles. One is having a romance with a married man, one is struggling with a divorce, and one is out of cash… again.

As the sisters head to the beach to bolster their moods, they learn to lean on one another to help each other out of their tough spots.

My Thoughts: Wendy Francis writes such cozy beach reads and this one is no exception. It was a fun story that kept me entertained while reading!

Four POVs. Three sisters. One weekend.

As with many books in this genre, there's secrets, family drama and a mystery to resolve. It does this....fine. The story is...fine. The characters are....fine. It was fine overall.

I think the issue with books like this is that while character development DOES happen, it's all rather boring. I need more meat, more drama, more....something.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book .

Wendy Francis is quickly becoming an automatic "summer read" author for me. Her latest novel Feels Like Summer is another cozy beach read. There are 4 main POVs in this story, which is a little confusing at first. The POVs are the three Lancaster sisters, and the female police officer who is investigating the "mystery". The three sisters are well written characters and the summer beach vibe is well written as well. I liked the "twist" at the end as well. I did not see that one coming! If you like family drama stories you will enjoy this novel. Summer beach stories are "comfort reads" for me and this book definitely delivers. Thanks to #netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this novel.

Feels Like Summer brings three sisters together for the Memorial Day weekend. A beach house where they always went to as a family growing up where so many good memories were made. Now as adults things are different. The women are going there for support and also to escape from things going on in their lives. They all think the other sisters have it made and are living the dream. Secrets are soon revealed and there is a mysterious death that affects them all. I love the writing of Wendy Francis and it has been way too long (in my opinion!) since she had a book out! Highly recommend! A great summer read!

What a book!! It was a 4.3 star out of 5 book.

This was a nice beach read with a little romance sprinkled in with a little mystery. It was a read (just what I needed) I liked the different points of view the characters offered.

It allows us to get to know each character and see their struggles. I felt the characters were well developed and I really enjoyed the family dynamic. I really loved it!

Feels Like Summer focuses on 3 sisters who are going through something in their lives. They all end up meeting at Shelby's house for Lancaster's annual Memorial Day weekend party on the Boston waterfront. It turns out that a mysterious ship has also been found floating in the harbor along with a missing person.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!!

A fun summer story about three very different sisters who come together for Memorial Day at the summer Beach House.

Kate, is dealing with a potentially straying husband, Shelby has cast off her husband and is looking for love and Breanna is trying to keep up and grow up! All have issues that culminate in a great weekend This was a fun story for sure, I enjoyed flipping through the multiple view points and the contrasting opinions. There was a edge of tension added with the police which made this a better than average summer story!

This is a good summer beach read. It’s a mystery masquerading as a family drama or vice versa. It provided narration from four different perspectives so the reader needs to really pay attention or they might get a little confused. Once you got to know each character it was easy and enjoyable. I did feel the ending was a little rushed and I would have liked to find out more and get more closure for Shelby. I also would have loved an epilogue that told you what happened to the veterinarian and his marriage. The sister relationship was very believable and relatable. So, in these regards, the story did leave me thinking about it afterwards, so I appreciate that. Enjoyable setting and one can feel their toes in the sand or participating in the Memorial Day party. Although as I read through I was waiting for something to happen kind of like a crescendo. When it finally hit it was quick, a bit rushed but opened the door for additional books to be written and a series developed. I hope to see the rest and how things unwrap for these sisters.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc copy of this book. I had the impression that this was a simple beach read. Boy, was I wrong! The back story for our main characters was fascinating in that in wove in with the other characters. I thought I knew how it was all going to end up but wasn't prepared for the twist at the end. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read in advance.

I was expecting a relaxing beach read, and it does take me to the beach making sand castles, but it is life, and life never goes smoothly. For the three Lancaster sisters, they were looking forward to their annual reunion over Memorial Day weekend. Before it was time to leave for the reunion, their lives start to unravel, and when they arrive, bringing their baggage with them, they have to figure things out. I often wondered if they would make it through, it kept me reading, when it was time to go home, they didn't leave the same person that they were when they arrived. That does make for a very interesting read.
I received an ARC from Lake Union Publishing through NetGalley.

Shelby, Kate and Bree are sisters.

Shelby is divorced, with a teenage son, and is in a relationship she can’t tell her sisters about.

Kate is the middle sister but feels like the oldest. She’s married, she’s wealthy, she has a toddler and she’s a stay at home mom.

Bree is the youngest by a significant margin. She’s free spirited and an artist. But she’s not making enough money as an artist to pay the bills.

<spoiler>When Kate finds out her husband is cheating, she heads to her summerhouse early. Soon she meets up with Shelby and Bree. And here is where I admit that I would have enjoyed the book more if I liked Shelby.
Shelby is involved with a married man. And when she finds out her sister’s husband is having an affair, she is not supportive of Kate leaving him. She actually tries to talk her into staying. And it’s entirely because of the guilt that she herself feels for being involved with a married man. </spoiler>

For me to really enjoy a book I usually gave to like the characters. The exception is when someone is so over the top that it’s intentionally funny. It’s difficult when I’m supposed to like the character. And I just did not like Shelby.

I was also surprised by the storyline about a potential drowning victim. I was even more surprised by the conclusion of that storyline because it felt kind of rushed and less relevant than I was expecting.

I love this author’s books. I loved the setting. And I appreciated the storyline of the three sisters trying to help each other through some difficult things. But my dislike of Shelby affected my overall enjoyment of the story. I feel like she didn’t really want her sisters to be happy and I sold t say that about either Bree or Kate.

I got to read an early ebook edition from NetGalley. Thank you!

Summer book about three sisters and drama; including a dead body. Slow going for me. I skimmed more than anything and did not finish it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for allowing me to read the ARC of this book. I LOVED this book. I loved the relationship between the 3 sisters, the huge plot twist at the end of the story, and how the plot progresses throughout the book. I loved the setting, I loved the multiple points of views for the sisters, and I loved how well the pace of the story was. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read!

I want to thank NetGalley for the ARC of this book. It feels like summer is a story of sisters, relationships, with some mystery thrown in. This book was a slow burn for me. The timelines going back and forth from Robin to each sister was a bit off-putting at first but I'm so glad I stuck with it. Once you got further into each sister's story it was much more enjoyable. I can't say I really gravitated toward any of the characters but was eager to see how each of their relationships played out. Summer vibes, family dynamics, and murder offer a quick read.
