Ellie is a successful ghostwriter and Kieran is a chef who just won a cooking challenge show. They couldn't be more opposite but they're paired up to work together on Kieran's cookbook. After a few bouts of realizing just how polar opposite they are, they slowly start to trust & develop a mutual respect for each other. I genuinely enjoyed this book! It's always so fun reading about characters who couldn't outwardly be more different but are actually fairly similar beneath the surface. I think the author did a great job with the dyslexic and ADHD representations as well!
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Sarah Chamberlain for sending me an early copy!

I wanted to love this book, especially since the title mentioned 'slowest burn.' I love a good slow burn, and I was expecting to feel tension between the characters, but there wasn’t any. Instead, it felt more like an instant attraction between them. However, I did enjoy the food concept and how she was his ghostwriter, helping him with the cookbook. At the beginning, I was a bit confused, but I eventually caught on. This book definitely had potential, but it fell flat for me, and it took me a while to get through it.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Slow burn, spicy, male female, dual point of view, contemporary romance. I love a food related book - the female lead is a cookbook ghost writer and the male lead is a celebrity chef. There were some sweet and cute moments but a few too many tropes. This book didn't sing for me, but it's a promising debut novel.

I’ll be totally honest, 10% in I almost DNFed this one. I don’t love books that read more like food p*rn than romances and this felt like it was heading that way. However it turned around really quickly and here I am, crying a little to myself I’m so in love with Ellie and Kieran at the end of this book. The writing is sweet and light and a good amount of spice and I felt like I understood the buildup of the relationship really well. It felt sincere and not just a gimmick. It doesn’t help that Ellie felt so incredibly real to me because I see so much of myself in her (as I’m sure my therapist would too). It’s nice to see a girl I can identify with getting a well deserved and well thought out happy ending.

Thank you Netgalley and St Martins Press for my ARC! I was really looking forward to this chef/ghostwriter love story and the cute cover drew me in.
Unfortunately, it was a DNF at 60% for me. I am not a fan of friends with benefits trope so that was where things went downhill fast for me. Those who enjoy this trope, will have a better experience.

This is such a cute romance and perfect for fall!! I hadn't read anything by this author but I'll definitely want to in the future.

This was an entertaining, lighthearted read! I enjoyed reading about Kieran and Ellie, and their respective lives. I thought how they lives became intertwined was fun (chef + ghostwriter for a cookbook), and I felt that the characters had some stumbling blocks, but came into their own pretty quickly. I felt that I got to know the characters pretty well, and I didn't feel like I was missing chunks of relevant backstory, which was nice. I appreciated that sometimes it takes a different set of eyes to realize where you're at, and I think Kieran and Ellie did that successfully for each other.

Culinary romance - sweet and spicy!
Ellie is the perfect ghostwriter to reign in the Leprechaun Pirate Chef, Kieran O'Neill, to develop his cookbook on a deadline. She has years of experience developing recipes, like science experiments, that home cooks can replicate. Kieran only knows chaos. While cooking centers him, an undiagnosed learning disability from childhood led to distinctive and distracting behaviors that people have come to expect from him. Ellie's not having it. Is there room for two cooks in the kitchen?

I adored this slow burn romance book, it’s about writing a cookbook! I fell in love with the characters, Kieran the red headed “bad boy” chef with ADHD and Ellie the ultra organized cookbook ghost writer.
Kieran has recently won a TV cooking show and is now the “leprechaun chef”. His agent thinks that a cookbook will help cement his reputation, and he’s got the perfect ghost writer.
Ellie has worked on worked with chefs before, but never one like Kieran. Despite the frustrations they feel while working together (or trying to), they’re very attracted to each other. They have to figure out how to work together to get the cookbook written and explore their relationship at the same time.
This is an entertaining book that I read in one sitting, 5 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Coming off a reality show win, chef Kieran is writing his first cookbook, with the help of a ghostwriter, Ellie. They have a rocky professional relationship at the beginning, but after spending a lot of time in close proximity, they realize they fit together perfectly.
This was a cute story, but I had a hard time staying interested. I could put it down and leave it more often than I wanted to. I loved the premise, and the characters had great chemistry, but I feel like something was missing.
Thank you to Sarah Chamberlain, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for the copy in exchange of my honest review.

The Slowest Burn is a really sweet and heartfelt romance while still dealing with a variety of serious issues. Ellie is still trying move on from the death of her husband. Doesn’t help that she has been living with her in-laws, or rather in their guest house and her mother-in-law can’t seem to get over the lose. Ellie works as a ghostwriter and her newest job is going to be to ghostwrite a cookbook for Kieran who recently won a reality cooking show. Kieran has problems of his own, especially surrounding his family and his ADHD. I’m not sure I’d strictly call this an enemies-to-lovers story, though I’d say it might be fair to say when they start working together things aren’t exactly smooth sailing and I guess you could say it feels more than a bit adversarial. But as the title suggest there is a slow burn building, and I found the story quite satisfying. I’d like to thank St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of The Slowest Burn.

THE SLOWEST BURN by Sarah Chamberlain
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️
Sarah Chamberlain’s debut novel is a chef's kiss good. Learning about the ghostwriting of cookbooks was so interesting; It also has a great representation of ADHD and dyslexia and was significantly related to me. I loved the reversed grumpy and sunshine roles.
I can’t wait to read Sarah’s next novel. ❤️
Thank you, St Martin Press and NetGalley eARC, for my review.

3.5⭐️ rounded up.
This was a super cute read! Although it did take me a minute to be fully invested, once this story had my attention I was all in. This title definitely doesn’t lie; the book is very much a SLOW BURN. But I felt like that really allowed me to get to know these characters in every way. Overall a cute and fun read.

I picked up The Slowest Burn and was hooked from page 1 and read this cover to cover in one sitting!

A dual POV book, which was perfect for this story of a young widow tasked to be the ghostwriter of an up and coming chef that just won a cooking show title. We learn her sad back story of how she grew up,married and became a widow. We also learn the chefs back story of a tortured childhood by parents he has distanced himself from and his insecurities and brilliance in the kitchen. It was definitely a slow burn with these two but once it heats up watch out.
It was a fun, sweet, aggravating and emotional book that’s despite being called The slowest burn was a very quick read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an E-Arc of this book. The following is my honest opinion *
3.5⭐ out 5
I am conflicted about how I feel about this book. I really enjoyed it. I got hooked from the very beginning. I loved that it was a cooking theme. The main characters were diverse and as you get to know more about them, I grew to love them so much.
In terms of romance, this book had a little bit of everything. Enemies to lovers with strong chemistry. A night of fake dating. And similar to the title, the slowest of burns.
My conflict with this book, is it should not have been marketed as a romance, maybe. The first 60% of the book was Kiernan and Ellie getting to know each other and being attracted to one another. The remaining 40% was dependent on the other subplots of the story. Those subplots were heavy topics that, I felt, were glossed over/minimized.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I would recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley and St.Martin’s Griffin for the arc of The Slowest Burn! I will say that I had a bit of a hard time getting into this book at first, but once I did I loved it! Kieran and Ellie’s relationship was so cute and they both helped each other grow throughout the book! I definitely can’t wait to see what Sarah Chamberlain creates next!

This was a cute hate to love / friends with benefits story that gave complexity and layers in the characters. HOWEVER, I feel like the characters did not reflect their age. How they reacted, interacted and what not. The plot itself was good, just the characters could've been outlined better to have an overall effect. This is similar to how a movie is great, just played by the wrong actors I think. I also wish there was more outside of the kitchen setting, however, I get it. This was a lovely story overall.

Ellie and Kiernan are working together on a cookbook. Ellie is a ghostwriter, and Kiernan is a chef who won a reality cooking show. She's grumpy, and he's sunshine. Their personalities clash, but they have to work together on the project.
Both of them are pining for each other, but Ellie is a young widow and doesn't want to get into a relationship. She still lives on the property of her in-laws, and she cares for her grieving mother-in-law. Ellie has a lot on her plate, and she still finds time to help Kiernan.
I appreciated that he was a short king because I feel like men in romance books are always over 6 feet tall.
The story is a slow burn, just like the title, and I did like their relationship.
I'm giving the book 3 stars because it felt too heavy for me. I would have liked more of a focus on their relationship growth and development.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this book.

Kieran, a reality TV show winning chef has just received a cookbook deal. Ellie is a 30-year-old widow living with her in laws and assigned to ghost write for chaotic Kieran.
As their deadline gets closer, these two opposites lean on each other to get past former hurts and try to make something together. Will this new connection work or go up in flames?
A lot of spice, family drama and self-discovery.
- The Slowest Burn and, unfortunately, the slowest read. There were a lot of charming elements of this book but overall, not for me. I did like the dual POV and the careers of the leads were fun and different.
- I didn’t find the female lead likable which made it hard to wrap my head around the love story. Annoying 3rd act break up and predictable ending.
