Heir, Apparently by Kara McDowell is the sequel to The Prince & The Apocalypse, which I’ve also read.
I devoured this book and loved it so much. I don’t know what else to say besides if you enjoyed the first book, you’re going to enjoy this one as well.

A solid happy sequel to The Prince & the Apocalypse.
Prince Theo is still being royal, and Wren is now, slowly, trying to reconcile life after not the end of the world.
But how do you, can you, ever get over the boy you fall desperately in love with when the world nearly ends? Wren thinks she can, thought she could, but maybe that's the kind of love that isn't destroyed as easily as a world ending comet.

2.5. stars. I did not realize this was a sequel when I requested it so I first had to go read The Prince and the Apocalypse. There was so much catastrophe and drama in this book, it felt a little bit like a reality show and their relationship felt a bit like whiplash. I liked the main characters but I feel like all the crazy situations they were in did them a disservice where I didn't really feel like i got to see them fall in love.

This one was so-so for me. I did like it enough to check out the author's other books and add her to my list of authors to watch for new releases, however I felt the chemistry between the two characters was lacking and could have been built out more.

Hi Everyone,
Previously on the blog and Goodreads, I reviewed the first book in this series, one that I completely loved, so I picked up the second book nearly right away. I scoured Libby, Hoopla, and other apps for the audiobook while I waited for my physical copy to arrive and was able to track down an audiobook copy to start while I waited.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Wren is home and starting to settle into the idea of going to college however, she is still technically married to the now king. After their departure, Wren followed the prince (now king) via the news, seeing her dog and her husband on television. Watching him experience the pain of suddenly losing his mother and ascending the throne. Wren knows from the news cycle that he will be nearby in Canada and she is determined to visit her dog. Wren, her best friend, and her sister pack up and head to Canada however, Wren’s sister is unaware that the marriage is being taken very seriously by the crown. Once Wren is spotted the crown and guards whisk her off, they plan to take her and her group to London to work some things out. However, on the way there the plane crashes, and now they are stranded and the flight plan was not exactly shared as it should have been. Now Wren, her friend, her sister, and a whole royal crew have to get rescued and figure out how to survive in the meantime. There is also the matter of figuring out if she is the king’s legal wife?
I really loved the first book and had super high hopes for this book and while certain parts of the story were super engaging for me. I felt that overall the stranded on the island situation went on way too long. It was clear that Wren and the prince were still deeply in love and we did not need to spend the vast majority of the story on a stranded island to see that. I think this situation could have been done in a few chapters as realistically the palace would have sent people to search for the king and his sister (as well as Wren). I still enjoyed this book but overall I wish things had happened differently. I will definitely give a third book a try if one comes out in this series as I really love Wren and the King!
Goodreads Rating: 3 Stars

This was a fun read! Even though this was a sequel and I hadn’t read the first book this book was very easy to enjoy and have a good to with! I loved the characters and the super cute romance between them! The plot was fun to read and I loved the addition of the flashbacks in their relationship! Definitely recommend checking this one out!

I'd like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin's Press | Wednesday Books for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I unfortunately did not read this first book in this duology and really wished I did. The main characters kept referencing back to the first book and I could still follow along ok but really wished I had read it. So read book 1 first.
Otherwise, I found this to be a fun book. Their luck is terrible! Which I think is what draws me into this story. Probably the most frustrating thing about this story and why I rated it a 3 star is just the back and forth on if they will get together or not. Other than that it was quite an adorable, action filled, and a really fast paced read.

A delightful conclusion to The Prince and the Apocalypse by Kara McDowell! It was great to see Wren and Theo again, plus and the rest of the gang. If you're looking for a light dystopian book with a happy ending, Read this duology! They are fun reads!

*I received an e-arc via Netgalley for a review. Thank you to Wednesday Books for the opportunity. All thoughts are my own*
After reading The Prince & The Apocalypse, I needed to get my hands on this one. I had to know what happened to Wren and Theo after that ending! Kara McDowell definitely came through for me.
After the events of the first book, Wren goes on a rescue mission to get her dog Comet back. Of course, Wren and Theo get caught by the paparazzi. She suddenly becomes a problem for the firm to solve and must fly to London with Theo. As Theo and Wren can’t seem to catch a break, their plane crashes into the Atlantic and they’re stranded on an island. This time friends and family are involved, and it adds a whole lot more to the story in my opinion.
I loved the angst and the will they or won’t they be together! I highly recommend to those that enjoyed The Prince & The Apocalypse.

Honestly, I feel like 2 stars is generous. I started and stopped this book so many times and I almost had it in the DNF category. I liked some parts…the main thing being the security of the crown prince was more realistic in this one. But the back and forth with the characters was not great and kind of made me mad at points. This one was just not for me at all.

Thrilling yet romantic yet funny yet adventurous and futuristic! This book has it all! I'm a fan of this author's work and this book is no exception, I would reread and recommend d to a friend!

3.5 stars
Wren and Theo survived the apocalypse, but their bad luck isn't over yet. After reconnecting at one of his appearances, they get caught up in a media storm and she has to go to London with him. On the way their plane crashes and they have to figure out what comes next.
I liked this book and the series as a whole. Wren was a character who doesn't have it all together but loves Theo and wants to be with him. The story and character development were nicely done, and I liked the whole cast of characters in the series. My only issue was it felt like the ending was abrupt and wrapped up a bit too easily/quickly. Overall still a nice read, though, and I do want to try more from the author.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.

I didn't know this was a sequel and I am going back to read the first book ASAP. It was a great rom-com that you can finish in one sitting. Theo's siblings deserve their own books and I'd love to see what kind of life he builds with Wren.
I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I continued to enjoy the premise of this book! I loved the inclusion of more characters this time around! I really disliked the back and forth of will they/ won't they be together... But I would love to see more from this universe as there is some great secondary charcters that deserve to have their story told!

After finishing The Prince and the Apocalypse, I was delighted to dive right back into Wren and Theo's story! This was a fun, almost camp-like sequel that kept me engaged throughout. "I'm happiest when I'm with you, even when comets or airplanes are literally falling out of the sky." I recommend this series to folks who are looking for a fun YA romance with slightly unrealistic - but still very entertaining! - situations that happen to the leads. I received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

What a good conclusion for this duology!!
I really loved Wren's story in the first book, and it was fun getting to revisit this world. The writing is so fun and this duology makes for a great quick read. I found the romance adorable and liked the larger cast dynamic that the first book didn't have! I think I didn't rate this book higher because of the plot. I'm not the biggest fan of the plot of being lost on an island? I really don't know WHY I dislike this plot, but something about it just isn't my jam.
So, I think if you enjoy the first book that you'd like this one! It just wasn't my favorite due to personal preferences, and that's okay!

This was a solid sequel and a perfect conclusion to this duology… I mean nothing can ever compare to the joy that the first book brought me.
This book had the same amount of action and heart-stopping scenes but I felt like it was missing some of the romance that I was craving from Wren and Theo. I did like that we got to meet their siblings (Henry you are so dear to me and I need you to get your own spin off IMMEDIATELY) and that added the tension to the plane crash and volcano storyline. They not only have to save themselves, but their family as well.
The ending was a bit rushed to me but I think Wren and Theo got the perfect ending.
Kara McDowell if you can hear me, I would really like a Henry spin off please and thank you!!!

This is the sequel to The Prince and the Apocalypse. While this was an entertaining book full of adventure and drama, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the first book. It felt a tad contrived in places. However, I did like the relationship between Wren and Theo. I also liked the royal siblings who become full fledged characters in this second act. The ending worked really well! This book is a kind of fantasy about the British Royal Family tinged with elements of realism. But it was easy enough to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the story as it unfolded.
Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy.

Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. And thank you to @rbmedia for a free download of the audiobook.
A Royal Adventure
Heir, Apparently is a delightful sequel to The Prince & The Apocalypse, that continues the enchanting world-building and heartwarming romance established in the first book. Wren and the Prince are back, facing new challenges and deepening their connection.
The premise of a plane crash and an uninhabited island is a classic setup for adventure and romance. While the addition of supporting characters adds humor and camaraderie, it can sometimes distract from the central couple's storyline.
The author's writing style is engaging, and the chemistry between the main characters is palpable. The blend of humor, adventure, and romance creates a captivating reading experience.
The audiobook narration by Laura Knight Keating is exceptional. She skillfully brings the characters to life, capturing their unique voices and accents. Her performance enhances the listening experience, making it a truly immersive experience.
Overall, Heir, Apparently is a fun and entertaining read that will appeal to fans of young adult romance and fantasy.

This was amazing book for the series and I was so glad to back in this world. I loved Theo and Wren! This was book was absolutely wild with the plane crash and everything that happened but it was so bingeable. I would love to read more books in this series.
