Until the end, I thought I would give at least 4 stars to this book. Marcus Lapierre tells his story wonderfully, I loved his writing and the tempo of his story. The character are well-described and so vivid, it seems they are almost real. Through 4 narrators, he lets us into the dreams and ambitions of a group of people and how their stories intertwine after the death of a local businessman. I especially loved Augusta, an incredibly strong character but all of them were somehow relatable.

So, why the 3 stars? It felt like the story did not have a proper ending, at least to me. I felt involved in this book and when it came to an end, I was wondering why, what was the purpose of the book? It lacked a certain logic to be nicely wrapped up and give me the feeling everything has been told. The author either told too much, and should have ended his book earlier or not enough and we are missing a piece of the story.
