I really enjoyed learning about this part of the Mexican-American War. It had a great overall feel to it and worked with the historical feel that I wanted from the nonfiction element. Peter J. Emanuel Jr. has a great writing style and it felt like it was researched well.

A good nautical novel about a little-known piece of history during the War with Mexico. I was unaware of the participation of the ship and its crew during the siege of San Diego and campaigns in California. The story is well-told and full of action. A great nautical and historical read!
