Title: Don’t Forget Me
Author: Rea Frey
Genre: Thriller; Suspense
Series or Standalone: Standalone
Rating: 5 Stars

Thank you to Rea, Thomas & Mercer, and Thriller Book Lovers Promotions for an advance audio copy of Don’t Forget Me.

Ruby has taken an early retirement and moved to her husband’s dream neighborhood, a ritzy tight-knit community on the outskirts of Nashville. However, where she was hoping to find a relaxing new start, she instead finds tragedy after tragedy. First her struggling daughter disappears without a trace and then presumably consumed by grief and resentment, her husband takes off too. Ruby does her best to move forward, however when she discovers a body in the lake of her community and everyone insists it is Tom, Ruby becomes the center of an investigation where everything is not what it seems.

That synopsis is quite a mouthful but still doesn’t break the surface of all the twists & turns Rea brings us within this family & community. Don’t Forget Me had me hooked and on the edge of my seat until the final page. I truly don’t expect many people to predict where this book is going to take them. The plot starts fast and stays fast while maintaining a solid sense of suspense throughout.

We get enough glimpses of secondary characters and their personalities that could lead us to either trust or distrust them - another difficult move to execute well completed successfully by Rea.

I always love when a story incorporates social media into it, especially community gossip pages, so I was thrilled when that popped up. I also really enjoyed that there were usernames versus people’s names and the identities were never fully realized, but instead Rea gave us breadcrumbs to have us draw our own conclusions as to who could be who.

Also, let me say I love ALCs. I feel like I’d never miss a pub day if I had ALCs for every book. The narration was great, so if listening is more your thing, I totally recommend picking the audio copy up when it’s available.

This book will be on Kindle Unlimited & was also an Amazon First Reads for the month of February.

The main criticism that I saw was that the plot was a bit farfetched. Aren’t all thrillers? Isn’t that why we read - to leave reality? I find most thrillers have at least a portion that could not realistically happen, but I still love the books anyway. This was my first, but definitely not last Rea book, she gained a new fan here!

This was a fun novel with a layered plot, complex characters, and devil in the detail. It was surprising and a total page turner!

When Ruby finds a body in the lake and everyone but her seems to think it's her estranged husband, I knew this one would be a head scratcher. There was so much going on under the surface and the use of multiple narrators and varying timelines kept me guessing while also creating (and sometimes answering!) more questions.

It was really hard to know who to trust. I couldn't decide if Ruby was a reliable narrator or not or whether or not her memories were truth. References to time gaps and blackouts had me confused and on edge about what happened to her missing daughter and who the man in the lake really was.

The tie in to the community was a fun plot twist and I enjoyed the forum chat as an alternative method of moving the story forward. Clues were hidden on every page and within every interaction, I just didn't always know to look for them!

I listened to this book on audio and while it was good and highly entertaining, I didn't love the narrator. Her voice was great for audio but the cadence felt really mechanical and was often distracting.

Overall, this one kept me guessing and eager to learn more. I loved how everything played out and that there were surprises at every turn!

Thank you to Thriller Book Lover Promotions, Thomas & Mercer, and Brilliance Audio for the copy. This one releases March 1st and is even an Amazon First Read so DO NOT MISS OUT!!!

The opening scene of this book - Ruby finding a dead body while rowing in the lake - sucked me in immediately and I could not stop listening! Finished this one in a day.

Everyone in the community believes the body is Tom, Ruby's estranged husband who hasn't been seen in a while. Everyone but Ruby that is. She admits Tom left her, but insists he isn't dead. Her daughter is also missing.

Add in that Ruby is part of a neighbor Murder Group run by a true crime podcaster. And she has a bit of a past that almost no one is aware of. Then there's the community online message board, which is going wild with rumors.

All of this gives so much drama, some humor, twists and turns.

As Ruby tries to convince everyone she's not a murderer, more bodies start to turn up. There's a serial killer in town obviously. But who is it?

I admit, I had a pretty good inkling who the murderer was long before the ending. But I was not completely sure and totally invested to the end.

Such a twisty psychological thriller, with some well done audio that added to the story!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Brilliance Audio and Thriller Book Lovers Promo for an ALC in exchange for my honest review and allowing me to be a part of this tour!

When a body turns up in a nearby lake, Ruby is shocked to hear that it is her husband Tom. But she can't recognize the body.

Holy moly! Talk about secrets galore! This book had so many reveals, I loved the way it all came together at the end. I was hooked from page one and really enjoyed how twisted the storyline was. I can't wait to check out more by Rea Frey now!

A dead body, a missing husband, a neighborhood group that tries to solve cold cases, and plenty of secrets! Told from then and now dual timelines, this domestic thriller does not disappoint!
Ruby has started her early retirement in a warm lake community when first her daughter disappears, then so does her husband. Grief-stricken, and the obvious suspect, Ruby now has to prove her innocence to her neighbors. Secrets, lies, infidelity, and a lot of dead bodies.
This pulled me in right from the start, and I was hooked the whole way through. Rea Frey is a new author to me, and I will certainly be reading her other books!

This is my first book by Rea Frey but it won't be the last! I enjoyed this fast paced thriller. Ruby has lead quite the interesting life and it gets way more interesting when she moves into her new house. From the Murderlings neighborhood group who try to solve murders to her daughter going missing to her husband ending up dead. What a wild ride! I have to admit about 60% in I figured out the murdered, but I do read alot of thrillers!!! The audio was great!

This was an entertaining and easy book to listen to. I liked the narrator and my favorite part of the book is the “murderlings” neighborhood club that gets together to solve cold cases. Even though the twists in the book weren’t too shocking, they were enjoyable.

DON’T FORGET ME was a gripping thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. Its fast-paced narrative & easy-to-follow plot made it a delightful read. While some aspects stretched believability, they only added to the adrenaline rush inherent in the genre.

What truly captivated me were the ingenious elements like the town murder club, where parties turned into mystery-solving sessions, offering a unique & enticing setting, my kind of night! The murder chat, with its enigmatic usernames, added an extra layer of intrigue, keeping me guessing until the very end.

With a plethora of suspects & motives, unraveling the mysteries felt like navigating a labyrinth. The dual storyline, featuring two intertwined mysteries, provided a double dose of suspense that I couldn't get enough of.

Moreover, the supporting characters, particularly Daisy, added depth & charm to the narrative. Her character development was a highlight, leaving a lasting impression.

This book is a must-read for thriller enthusiasts craving excitement & mystery. It's a rollercoaster ride of suspense that will leave you eagerly turning the pages until the shocking conclusion.

The story follows the MC Ruby, who seeks solace in a new community after retiring early, only to face turmoil when her daughter & husband vanish without a trace. Struggling with grief, she immerses herself in a murder club formed by her neighbors to cope. When a body surfaces in a nearby lake, presumed to be her husband's, Ruby refuses to accept the identity. Desperate for answers, she delves into her neighbors' lives & her own past, unearthing secrets that deepen the mystery. As Ruby confronts the unknown, she must grapple with her conscience & uncover the truth to clear her name & find closure.

I enjoy domestic thrillers and this one had all the triggers: childhood trauma, domestic abuse, drug use, mental illness and murder. I listened to it on audio and the narrator did a great job and the story moved along quickly. I often like when a story ends with a not so pretty ending and was quite pleased with this one. Many thanks to Thriller Book Lover Promos and Thomas and Mercer and Amazon Publishing for my audiobook ARC. 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗲 publishes 3/1.

This started off so good, I was hooked. As the storyline grew and the twists kept dropping, one after another, it started to be too much. It was like someone was trying to squeeze in just oooooone more twist and it convoluted the story. When I say I was all in for the first third of the book, I really mean it. I was like; oh, this is going to be close to five stars for me but it just kind of jumped the shark and my ability to suspend disbelief did this book a disservice.

Wow, this was such a twisty story that has so many layers you just cannot put this book down. I listened to the audiobook and I did not want to pull the earbuds from when ears. I feel like I listened to this with a marathon pace because it was that good. While I suspected the murderer, that ending was so surprising and a perfect cherry on top! This was the first and certainly not my last book by Rea Frey.

I listened to the audiobook that was narrated by Rachel Jacobs, which is a new narrator to me, but she did an amazing job. This is such an atmospheric book that will keep you wanting to keep reading.

****Many thanks to Thriller Book Lovers Promotions and Rea Frey for my gifted ALC in turn for my honest review.

Ruby is a woman dealing with grief. First her daughter Lily goes missing and then her husband. To keep herself busy she joins the “Murderlings” a neighborhood group that gets together to solve m*rders. When she finds a body in the nearby lake everyone is convinced it’s her husband Tom, but Ruby doesn’t think so.

This was a combo audio/kindle read for me for the simple reason that the audio wasn’t fast enough! What happened to Lily? Is the body in the lake Tom? I simply HAD to find out what in the world was going on RIGHT. NOW! I love dual timelines and Don’t Forget Me has that in spades as well as non linear storytelling which was easy to follow. Ruby is a captivating if unreliable narrator. She has memory gaps and has had them since she was young; she dissociates. The secrets of her past are slowly revealed while in the present she scrambles to figure out who is killing off her neighbors one by one. Yes, more bodies are found!

My only qualm is that there are some unanswered questions and areas that I wish had been explored further. Then again maybe the ambiguity is the point? Is there even more to the story that what has been explicitly revealed? I’d like to think so.

The audio was fantastic and Rachel L. Jacob’s was a pleasure to listen to. She captured emotions perfectly and I enjoyed the community forum excepts when listening. When reading the neighborhood texts, it didn’t add as much and I could’ve done without it.

I won’t hesitate to grab another thriller by Rea Frey! This was a mind bender of a read with some twists that took me by surprise! I did succeed in identifying the killer. I think? I’m still pondering that ending. . .

"Don't Forget Me" is a fantastic domestic thriller. It drew me in right away, kept my interest, and kept me guessing from beginning to end. This book has a little bit of everything: lies, secrets, cheating, drama, murder, domestic abuse, trauma, and intrigue. The story is action packed but the pacing is smooth, solid, and finely layered. This one is for fans of red herrings, possible unreliable narrators, dual timelines, and twists. As a Nashville local, I also enjoyed the familiar setting and locations discussed in the book. This was my first read by Rea Frey and it won't be my last. Rachel Jacobs was also a new to me narrator and she did a wonderful job making this story come to life. 4 stars!
I have added other books by this author to my TBR list and look forward to reading more from Rea Frey.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, Brilliance Publishing, and Thriller Book Lovers Promotions for the ARC.

This was a fun listen! I was sucked into the mystery right away. It was easy to root for Ruby and the neighborhood murder club to solve the crime and prove Ruby’s innocence. There were plenty of twists and turns that took me by surprise and I love how the book ended! The narrator did a great job throughout so audio isn’t a bad way to go for this one! Check this book out, especially if you’re a fan of Tarryn Fisher or B.A. Paris!

What a fabulous surprise this book was!! I love it when a book by a new author to me is a 5 star read. I couldn’t get enough of this story.

This was a Kindle Unlimited First Reads pick for March, and I received the audiobook from Thriller Book Promotions.

I am not going to go into too much detail on the plot. You really want to going in not knowing too much. It was so a wild and twisty story, with an ending that really did shock me. There were plenty of characters that were hard to pick, were they good or bad? The story was told in then and now timelines and it worked really well. Cottage Grove becomes a murder town, can the surviving residents stop this killer.

The narrator was fantastic.

Thanks to Brilliance Publishing and Brilliance Audio for the advanced listening copy. Out on March 1st

All Ruby wanted was a fresh start. Recently retired and moved to a new town with her husband Tom and daughter Lily, she is trying to decide what to do next. She is invited to her neighbor Daisy’s “monthly crime nights”, in which the neighbors all get together for a night of drinks, snacks and solving crimes. When one of those crimes hits a little too close to home, Ruby is quite shaken up. But then her daughter goes missing, without a trace and with leaving her phone behind. Tom seems unconcerned, which infuriates Ruby. Then Tom himself goes missing, and when a body is found floating in the river, everyone assumes it’s Tom. Ruby begins to dig deeply into the lives of the people around her to try to solve this real-life crime.

I started listening to the audio for this book around 11am and had it finished by dinner time - I simply could not put it down!! I had to know what happened to Lily, and just who was that found in the river?! As a thriller lover, the thought of “crime nights” sounds like so much fun - especially when real life mysteries start to happen - lol! Told in dual timelines, Ruby’s past unfolds as she thinks back on her life and tries to determine what happened to her husband and daughter. It’s hard to say much more than that without giving any spoilers, but I will say there are several twists that got me good - I did not see them coming at all!

Thank you to Thriller Book Lovers and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC! “Don’t Forget Me” releases March 1, 2024.

I recently finished listening to the audiobook version of "Don't Forget Me.” Even though I didn't plan on completing it in one sitting, I became so engrossed that I couldn't stop listening! The narrator is fantastic at keeping the suspense elevated, which made me want to hear just one more chapter.

This thriller is full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's a shorter book, which I appreciated, and it has various elements to capture your attention. For those who enjoy solving mysteries and keeping up with social media, there's a community murder club with a blog. If you're interested in domestic drama and mental health issues, it has an abundance of those, too. And for those of us weirdos who are intrigued by killers, this book features one who sneaks around, slaughtering neighbors without leaving evidence.

The shocking conclusion will leave you in awe! This is the first book I've read by this author, and it won't be the last. If you're a fan of thrillers, I recommend checking this one out!
