A coming-of-age story told with beautiful illustrations of Seoul at night. This was an interesting read about learning to let go of your past and make your own way in the world. Through the images, you can feel all that the main character goes through but I wasn’t really able to connect with any of them. The epilogue does leave me with questions, though.

This graphic novel is a sweet story of longing and regret as two young women begin college. Like so many high school friendships, Seong-Ji's and Ji-won's relationship becomes less intense once they are separated. While working at a small store, Seong-Ji meets another young woman whose influence is enlightening, philosophical, and thought-provoking.

Seoul Before Sunrise's protagonist, Seong-Ji, and plot rang true for me. One's early college years are a time of introspection as well as exposure to new people, concepts, and cultures. So much is new, and yet one may long for simpler times.

I found the artwork in Seoul Before Sunrise to be gorgeous, so ethereal and dreamlike. It drew me into the story from the start. Highly recommended to graphic novel fans, especially those who enjoy coming of age stories.

While the characters were mostly great, my personal struggle lay in forging a deep connection with them. Despite their portrayal, the narrative didn't quite foster the level of engagement I was hoping for. The visual allure, however, significantly enhanced the overall appeal of the book.

I grabbed this comic and didn't expect the depth it carried. It was dreamy and so deep that I had to pause for a while before writing the review to absorb everything. The artwork was stunning and it fit the vibe of the comic very well. It made me feel so nostalgic for the time I was in junior high school. This comic reminds me so much of the "Before Sunrise" trilogy. Everything was so mesmerizing but the ending caught me off guard. I didn't truly comprehend the ending but after thinking for a while it totally made sense.

This comic is a must-read!

Several topics were discussed, including loneliness, relationships, self-identity, love, personal growth, and the fact that plans do not always go according to plan. The epilogue made me want to read more.

Seoul Before Sunrise is a coming of age story told in a kind of dreamlike, whimsical way. The illustrations are stunning and the writing is at times harsh and stark, at other times soft and almost poetic. This is truly a beautiful work, the author should be proud.

This short graphic novel about loss and queer love was truly beautiful.
With this book, you get to experience a wonderful journey about discovering who you are. The main character was quite relatable because she feels like she doesn't fit in.
But I've gotta say that it was definitely more heavy than i expected.
Though the art style was one of the prettiest in a graphic novel I've ever seen. It captured the atmosphere perfectly.
It was also very helpful that there were some small explanations for some terms I didn't know.

Overall, this novel deserves its 5 stars.

"Seoul Before Sunrise" is a visually stunning book that transported me to Seoul at night, where I have had the pleasure to visit. I didn't connect as much to the characters however. I wonder, as an honest question, how much a French male author can connect to the feelings and experiences of Korean teenagers dealing with homophobia and romantic love for a friend. Some of these topics are culturally or gender specific. Still I loved the nighttime and other wordly exploorations. Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC.

A brilliant book about friendship, loneliness, about being different and being okay with yourself. The illustrations are atmospheric and suit the story perfectly. Although a very quick read there is so much depth in it

Seoul Before Sunrise is a quick (20-30 min) read, but it still has a lot of depth. The story considers themes such as friendship, love, and growing apart, as well as discovering yourself on the cusp of adulthood. Towards the middle of the story I wondered where things were going, but by the end all before clear, even if that ending was a little bit bittersweet. The art style was engaging and pleasing throughout. I really liked the atmosphere captured in each image. Overall, I am giving this book four stars.

This was an interesting story about the challenges we face making the transition from childhood to adulthood with the added pressure of a queer identity. I liked the reflection and felt I could really understand the main character. The art was perfect for the tone of the story. I quite enjoy it!
