Thanks to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for allowing me to read an ARC of Valorie Burton’s “Happy Women Live Better.” This is the first inspirational book I’ve read by Ms. Burton, and I plan to read more of her works. Although this book was published in October 2013, the pursuit of personal happiness is desperately needed in the United States in June 2025.
I greatly appreciated this book and the wisdom Ms. Burton imparts to the reader based on social science and biblical verses or principles. She explained and discussed the 13 happiness triggers, choices that can boost an individual’s joy, and how to incorporate them into our daily lives. I took the Happiness Trigger Assessment and discovered my top three triggers were Service, Financial Savvy, and Gratitude. Two triggers I can improve to boost my happiness are Movement and Savoring. I need to move it, move it, and also slow down and truly enjoy the small things in my life. Two of my favorite quotes from the book: “Savoring special moments as they happen is an important happiness skill…Sometimes we miss out on what life is really about because we are never actually living in the present.”
Reading "Happy Women Live Better" helped me realize that I am responsible for my happiness. When I get upset or experience frustration, my new mantra is to “Breathe, smile, and pray!” Thanks, Ms. Burton, for writing a timeless book and sharing your personal experiences. But, I truly appreciate you for sharing your love for God and commitment to standing on His word.
”The key is to align your thoughts with God’s loving thoughts of you and your circumstances.”
"Happy Women Live Better" is an informative and engaging read, and I highly recommend adding this title to your book collection.

An inspirational author who provides transformational advice. Valerie breaks it down into "triggers" for happiness. Easy to follow recommendations for improving happiness. All the the advances over the years with technology and science doesn't change the basic formula for happiness.
