I feel like we started off strong, but honestly halfway or so I started getting disinterested. We get three POV’s - Kaitlyn and Tanner are our main characters who are weren’t expecting to find each other with him not being able to stay in one place long enough to make a connection and her being a single mom of two and then we have Jasper who is an 83 year old man who lives alone and trying to protect the forest and animals around his home. Every time it switched over to Jasper’s POV I was so bored you guys and I felt like it took away from the story!! I enjoyed Kaitlyn and Tanner’s story and I think it would have worked better if Jasper’s stories were just mixed in by talking to the other characters, not necessarily his own POV which didn’t really have much dialogue, it was just him retelling his past. It also felt like Tanner and Kaitlyn had their plot and Jasper had his own and they didn’t blend that well together for me. I’ve read a lot of Sparks books by now and you still get his detailed emotional story telling in a small town, it just wasn’t working for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌳
I also didn’t like all the hunting talk and Jasper’s story was very religious, a lot of bible verses were quoted and I know some may not enjoy that so wanted to point it out! Oh and it’s closed door!

Thank you NetGalley, Nicholas Sparks, and Random House for this e-arc! Counting Miracles comes out September 24!

Tanner is in Asheboro, North Carolina to look for the father he never knew. This sweet story concerns family and finding your place in life with Christian values scattered throughout. There was a touch of suspense that kept me turning pages. I certainly recommend this book. Thanks to author Nicholas Sparks, Random House / Ballantine, and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Nicholas Sparks still has it after all these years. I have read many of his books, and love his movies created from them. You can always count on a 5 star read when you pick one up.
My only con on this one, was there is a time when I really didn’t care for Kaitlyn, she made many assumptions based upon a very short time and evidently, she never had a dog before, plus being a doctor she was quite naïve. I loved Jasper and was quite fond of Tanner.
Otherwise there is a lot of heart and love in this tale. Comes in with 5 stars. I truly enjoyed it.
I thank Random House Publishing Group along with NetGalley for providing this Galley edition for no requirement other than my offer to provide an unbiased review.

Counting Miracles : Nicholas Sparks

Format: eBook (NetGalley)
Publisher: Random House (Ballantine)
Publication Date: September 23, 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First of all, I never dreamed I’d be reading an advanced copy of a Nicholas Sparks novel. Thank you to Random House Publishing, Nicholas Sparks, and Net Galley for this ARC! Now onto the review…

This book follows 3 main characters: Tanner Hughes, Kaitlyn Cooper, and Jasper Johnson.
Tanner’s grandmother, the last of his living family, passed away from cancer and on her death bed told him his father’s name. He sets out to find him and ends up in Asheboro, NC. This is where he meets Kaitlyn, the town doctor.
Then there is Jasper, he’s basically the town recluse that lives in a cabin near the national forest. All of their stories intertwine throughout the book.

Nicholas Sparks does a beautiful job intertwining the lives of each of these characters. This is such a beautiful story with many life lessons. He always finds a way to throw in a love story as well. The only issue I had with this book is I wanted more from the ending.

All the Nicholas Sparks' feels! I want to thank NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book! Third person POV for three characters. I thoroughly enjoyed each character. I liked the family aspect that was brought to it...a woman that already has two children. I felt that it was an easy and fast read. There are some biblical aspects, which I actually liked. During Jasper's time in the woods, I felt that it was drawn out. I did skip over some of it. There was some detail that didn't necessarily needed to be added. It felt a bit repetitive. I wish there was more romance in it! The ending is sort of abrupt and I wish it went more into detail of the love story. Overall, I am giving this book a 3 star rating. I love his writing, but it was just average for me.

I had not read Nicholas Sparks in years and a couple months ago, The Wish was recommended to me as a must read. After thoroughly enjoying that (and sobbing throughout), I requested this ARC of Counting Miracles. It did not disappoint! I enjoyed both stories that were shared throughout the book. Initially being more interested in Tanner and Kaitlyn's story, but about halfway through, Jasper had my heart (and it completely broke for him). Overall, this is a quick read (I finished it in just a few days time) and one that makes you feel all the warm and fuzzies at the end.
Thank you to @Netgally, @PenguinRandomhouse, and @NicholasSparks for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my thoughts.

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group, NetGalley, and Nicholas Sparks for providing me with an ARC of Counting Miracles in exchange for my honest review.

Counting Miracles follows Jasper, and older man who has lived through many struggles in his life but always finds a way to see the positives in the world and try to make it a better place for others; Tanner who is still trying to find his place in the world, and Kaitlyn who is working on prioritizing herself as well as her family and others.

Counting Miracles is one of my most anticipated books for 2024. Nicholas Sparks is able to expertly bring characters to life and have you rooting for them. A lot of romance books tend to follow a script but Nicholas Sparks books feel like a breath of fresh air from that repetition.

Near the end of the book, the female main character had me screaming at the book because i was so invested in these characters and wanted everything to turn out well.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone. It is a romance book but there’s so much more depth to it than that.

Another great work from the infamous Nicholas Sparks. Once I started reading Counting Miracles I could not put the book down!

First I want to thank netgalley for the arc of this book for mg honest review.
First Kaitlyn is a divorced mom/doctor with 2 kids Jasper is an older friend /neighbor who lost all his family
And tanner a ex military guy who showed up looking for his bio dad. We all knew the lives would intertwine somehow we just didn't know how.
Kaitlyn meets tanner when her daughter crashes her car into him and there is attraction between the two of them. It goes back and forth between them and Jasper. I will say the beginning about jasper was quite boring but you had to keep reading about him to learn about his family and that was important. I really enjoyed this book and I'm glad I was able to read it.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I typically love all Nicholas Sparks books but this one just wasn’t for me. I really struggled with it and couldn’t finish.

I wanted to love this because, ya know, Nicholas Sparks, but sadly I did not love it 😭 I found it to be a tad boring and I had to keep skimming, hoping it would be over soon.

I did finish it, and it was a cute story when it was all said and done. Tanner, ex military man, is on the hunt for his biological father. When a young girl hits his car in a parking lot, she has him take her home so she can explain everything to her mom with him there. You guessed it, Tanner is intrigued by the mom, Kaitlyn, and falls head over heels for her. Their romance was just not what I expected. I was hoping The Notebook vibes, but I know that’s hard to live up to.

The other POV is an old man named Jasper, who is tracking down a bunch of kids who are poaching deer. He has a tragic fall while in the woods, and Tanner finds him. Unexpectedly, Jasper turns out to be Tanner’s long lost grandfather.

The ending was good, but it was tough getting there. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC! 💚

Nicholas Sparks once again weaves a poignant and heartfelt narrative in Counting Miracles, a story that seamlessly blends themes of love, loss, and the quest for belonging. From the moment we meet Tanner Hughes, an Army Ranger with a restless spirit, the novel takes us on a journey filled with emotional depth and the quiet yet profound connections that can change lives.

Counting Miracles shines in its exploration of how lives can intersect in the most unexpected ways, leading to growth, healing, and—true to the title—miracles. While some aspects of the plot may feel familiar to readers of Sparks' previous works, the emotional depth and the well-drawn characters make this a compelling read. It’s a book that reminds us of the power of connection and the importance of finding our place in the world, no matter how far we’ve strayed from the path we once knew.

If you’re a fan of Nicholas Sparks or simply enjoy a heartfelt, character-driven story, Counting Miracles will not disappoint. While it may not break new ground, it delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Sparks novel—plenty of emotion, a touch of romance, and a reminder that sometimes miracles do happen.

I have been a Nicholas Sparks fan since a teen and have read and loved all of his books. I was so happy when I got approved for an arc for this one so thank you so much Random House.
Sparks has always had a way with his words and capturing so many emotions.
This story is told in three POVs. Tanner, Kaitlyn and Jasper. You will fall in love with these characters and their stories. And when it all comes together in the end.
A very heartwarming and emotional story.

Having read most all of his books, this is probably my second favorite or third favorite to A Walk to Remember and The Notebook. Amazing story, so well defined were the characters a the setting, I felt present with them. I cannot give this book any higher of a rating! Just thank you for another gift of a book!

Oh my goodness, in true Nicholas Sparks fashion, this book was so impactful and emotional, I couldn’t stop even if I had wanted to. I LOVED this book so much! It hooked me in from the very beginning and just kept me completely enthralled & captivated.

There is no Nicholas Sparks book that I will not try!! Giving this book a 3.5. Like all his books, this is an easy-to-read, heartfelt, sweet romance. Set in the mountains/forest was a nice change from the typical coastal North Carolina backdrop for Nicholas Sparks books. Not every book of the authors has a very believable story/love story, but this one definitely did which I loved! I also always love and appreciate the authors tie and inclusion of Christianity and faith into his books in some way. I read this book in a very short amount of time, it kept me engaged and was easy to read. Similar to his last 2 releases (Dreamland & The Wish), this book is written with 2 different storylines/perspectives, that eventually coincide in the end. Personally, it’s not my preference in a book, as I feel like it shorts the emotional attachment to characters and their stories.

This is the best book I have read in a long time. Nicholas Sparks has outdone himself. Your heart falls in love with all the characters but especially Jasper. It is a book that will make you think about your life, the things that have happened in it and how a series of events can lead you to a place you never thought you would end up. I absolutely loved the biblical connections. On a scale of 1-10, I would give I would give it a 10+++++++++++++++++++++..
