I enjoyed this short thriller! This was my first time reading a story centered around bookstagrammers! I found that aspect so fun and relatable. There was a slow build up to the action but I was entertained throughout. It was a bit predictable but honestly sometimes that can be just as fun and cozy. Suspend belief with this one and just have fun.

I received this as an advanced audio book. While I enjoyed the listen, I will say I may have liked the book even more as a physical read. I only say that because the narrator’s tone, flow of speech, and accents for each character sounded very YA… but it’s not YA. They are all grown adults with adult pasts. It changed the way I received the story and made it a little more *silly*. Again, nothing against the narrator because I think she sounded amazing (for YA), just not a good fit for this particular book!

Anyone who reads thrillers and who might be termed as an ‘influencer’ will want to read this book! The premise definitely intrigued me. And our group of ‘influencers’ are thriller readers! YES! The book has been out for a couple of months but will be new to audio next week.

We have our MC Lena and she and some of her fellow ‘book influencer’ friends decide to finally meet up for a weekend getaway. The rented home is in a small town away from just about everything, giving the reader a “We are in the middle of nowhere!” eerie feeling. And then things don’t go as they thought they would. One in our friend group sees something unpleasant happen in another house…. or did they????

It's a bit of paranoia and who knows what is going to happen? Who can be trusted? This is another book that shows how social media is so mainstream: Everyone has to be an influencer and/or share everything that goes on in their life. No one has secrets anymore!

For me the characters came off as YA when they are in their 20s. There was just drama and an immaturity to them. I do read YA, it is one of my ‘go to’ genres, but I prepare myself for what may be in that type of book when I go to read it. And this one had it and that was a bit of a turnoff for me. I was invested in what was going to happen and KMod’s books are shorter, so I was in it through the ending! I also enjoyed Stacy Gonzalez’s narration.

I have seen other reviews that other readers did not like the twist ending. I actually did: I ‘got’ what KMod was trying to say and I liked it! I gave it an extra half star for that ending. You really can’t say much without giving anything away, and I’m not going to!

Many thanks for the publisher for granting me a copy to listen to and review!

There were a few good surprises but I didn't like any of the characters enough to care about them. Interesting and terrifying storyline, unfortunately, it us all too possible. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook

To my fellow book influencers, this book will feel like a mirror for most of it. The storyline follows a group of book influencers who decide to meet up over a weekend and have bookish fun. But the first wire went loose as the host cancelled at the last minute, followed by a spooky neighbour incident and possibly witnessing a murder. It all unwinds into a frenzy as their bookish weekend turns into a nightmare at Elm Street (only without the ghost) as each one of them questions why they are here.

The plot and the cause were chosen wisely as I could see myself falling prey to the situation too. There were a few lines that felt cringe to me, but the overall books about books or should I say books about readers was a novel shot that felt relatable. Without giving many spoilers, I would only say if you do start it, stick to the end and you might just get the 'cause' behind the whole story.

I listened to the audiobook and that's one reason why the characters felt lively and vivid. The narrators certainly did a great job on this one.

Thank you @netgalley @dreamscape_media @kierstenmodglinauthor for the Audiobook.

I love Kiersten’s stories but this one wasn’t my favorite. It was interesting and I was completely shocked at the ending but the influencer characters was kind of an ick. I thought the interactions and relationships among the characters was awkward. I wish it had been a better friend group or something. Everything about this was awkward.

As usual, KMod reeled me in and I couldn't stop listening.

I really enjoyed that this one revolved around a group of Bookstagrammers getting together for a weekend.

Lena is our main gal - recently divorced, jobless and down on herself. She's nervous to meet everyone but also excited about the getaway.

They meet, all expect the guy who planned it. In his place is a man Lena interviewed with for a bookstore job (she did not get it).

Then strange things start to happen. The trip turns very dark, everyone starts to suspect each other, and they need to get out of there.

Lots of twists. Slightly unbelievable ending but it worked.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I listened to the audiobook and boy was the narrator sounded like she was out of breath 24/7. She just sounded super enthusiastic to the point where it just made me cringe most of the time - so I guess that affected my experience as well when I was delving into this story.

I just felt like, there was so much build up to that coveted ending and when it was revealed - I was like, WHAT THE HELL?! That was it? This is the most anticlimactic book I've ever read/listened to this year - so far. I usually try to be nice - even with brutal honesty - with my reviews but this one was just utter disappointment.

The first few chapters also felt like I was reading a rom com instead of a thriller -- but then again I know some thrillers incorporate romance in their books it's just not the main focus of it. But yes, I'm sorry but this book was just a huge disappointment and I felt like I wasted my time listening to it. I wasn't happy with the narration, there were plenty of cringe moments and the plot was just pointless to me. I have read her other THE ARRANGEMENT and that one knocked my socks off with the plot twist but this one was just --- ugh! I don't know how else to describe my disappointment. Totally not satisfied with the ending - I wish there was more to the story and I wish it didn't end that way.

I did like the fact that the story was centered around bookstagrammers - and there were some relatable quotes and situations but there were too many cringe moments as well between the 'influencers' in the story. If you want to find out why I was so disappointed - just message me, I don't want to spoil this for anyone else who wants to try and have a quick thriller read/listen.

Would I recommend it? I don't know, not fully I guess maybe as a palate cleanser.

This plot was genius and so relevant to the book world! Book influencers met online and decide to meet in real life at pretty much like an Air B&B. At one point I start to wonder if this would be part romance and/or love triangle given the things that happen, but oh no… things take a turn when one influencer sees something disturbing next door and freaks out. Now the crew must figure out what’s really going.

If you’ve read a KMod book, you know there are interesting twists and this one has just that. What I enjoyed the most was that she included the book influencer things we all are familiar with. That ending and explanation of it all, I loved it! Just know that some parts may feel very familiar to our bookish world today, unfortunately. I loved how she included that. No spoilers 😆

This one is a quick listen, but it gave what it needed! I think the narrator did a good job with the varying characters. I absolutely loved her southern accents of a few of the characters!

Modglin has a craft for creating quick paced suspense. Fun little thriller reads to enjoy and easily digest in a weekend. Thanks for the entertainment KM. Thank you NetGalley for the ALC.

I am a huge fan of Kiersten Modglin's books. I was so excited to receive an audio copy of You'll Never Know I'm Here, in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately that is where the praise ends on this one.

You'll Never Know I'm Here is a quick read, or quick listen. It's too short to really develop any character, so you are stuck with a caricature of a person. For example, the main character, Lena goes on a job interview at a local book store. The store owner, Memphis, is very rude to her, and when she fails to answer a book recommendation question correctly, she is dismissed.

Memphis and Lena later run into each other at a weekend getaway for book influencers. Memphis is still rude and standoffish. When Lena calls him on it, he says it's because he's attracted to her, and he never hires people he's attracted to. LAME. There is absolutely nothing to suggest and attraction between the two. The characters are flat, the story is flat. Even the twists in the book are lacking, and underdeveloped.

It's safe of Modglin fans to skip this one.

I want to start with the narrator Stacy Gonzalez, there were six book bloggers in the narrator stacy Gunsallus made four of these people sound like buffoons she added extra vowels to the end of each last word and every sentence which made them all sound like potheads with the exception of Mara and Memphis who she made sound like a sleazy seductress for her and a serial killer for him. Not to mention she made the towns people sound like backwoods the phones and then the end I agree some of them were but one of these book bloggers was from Florida the state most known for crazy people but I digress. Now Kiersten Modgelin can really write some great books I think she does because she takes risks like Don’t Go Down There and You Can Trust Me which in my opinion are some really great books but sometimes when taking risk you wind up with .If You’re Reading This and You’ll Never Know I’m Here had I read the Kindle book I may have given it more stars but the narrator was almost insufferable and it sounds like she has a nice voice just the voices she does makes me think people must really care about her feelings because why wouldn’t someone tell her your character distinction makes them all sound like they’re drug attic‘s or idiots it still wouldn’t have been a five star read I mean in the book one book blogger is mocking another because he is reading a book! Opposed to being on his phone like everyone else, that is wrong in so many ways. I have many other examples like everything Paulette said not to mention Will who seem like he barely had a personality and all I kept thinking is these people are book bloggers… Really? Well you get my point this wasn’t a great book I didn’t like it didn’t like the narrator but like always I will still read Kiersten Modgelin’s books because sometimes like a grab bag you get a good one. I still appreciate the free Ark given to me by Net Galley and Dreamscape media. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This was the kind of books that once you have picked it up you will literally not be able to put it down. This book felt a little different than Kiersten’s other works, but similarly I found myself finishing this one in one sitting. I liked the tie in with bookstagramers and the idea of having a get together and meeting in real life. I loved the idea of friends who share a passion for books having a weekend away. Unfortunately there is something wrong in the small town they chose. Lena was ready for a weekend away. Recently divorced and having moved back to her home town she is jobless and feeling rather pathetic. Luckily she is getting together with 5 of her closest online friends. Despite the awkwardness when she recognizes one of the others as the rude man who interviewed and didn’t hire her for his bookstore she decides to have fun. But strange things happen and their picturesque trip is seeming more dark with every turn. The end was full of twists as all Kiersten’s books are but I found the end explanation a little lacking in believability. Despite that this is the perfect book if you want to stay up past your bedtime. I think this book is even better when you listen to the audiobook. the narrator did an excellent job and the story had more life from the very first sentence.

I did enjoy the book and the narration but I found it ended too abruptly.

It was a fast listen that I couldn’t stop listening so I give this 3 out of 5 stars

I usually like this author but this one fell short. I was so mad at the ending and felt cheating out of the time it took me to read it. So unrealistic and unbelievable.

I am a huge KMod fan and have listened to many, many of her books... but this book was NOT IT!! I can't stand a FMC who does stupid things just to move the plot along. Should we escape a creepy couple next door, or should I convince the group to go near the house because I see something weird? TOTAL BORE! Then the reveal towards the end was just so far fetched.

I did enjoy the narrators voice and how she changed her voice for the male parts. I would listen to this narrator again.

Kiersten Modglin is an automatic ARC request for me. I thought I was going to absolutely love this one. There were so many elements I did end up loving about it. Unfortunately for me, the ending and twist just did not land with me. I was absolutely hooked until the twists started to unravel and then I feel like this one jumped the shark a bit.

Fast paced whodunnit. You need to know what happens for sure, it keeps you interested. Narrative was good as well.

You’ll never know I’m here is another kierstein modglin thriller. Six book influencers meet for a weekend of getting to know each other. But where is there host ? What is with the town and the house they are staying in ? And is that happenings going on next door real

i was VERY intrigued by this premise! book influencers are meeting up for a get-together after knowing each other for years. i’ve never read a book with that premise.

however, this book sadly wound up to be a miss for me /: i did not like the audio narration, but this book was only a few hours long at the speed of which i was listening, so i just pushed through. i was interested in the story, but this book fell into the categories of characters making dumb decisions and the villain explaining everything at the end. it just felt dumb to me and made me drop my rating from 3 to a 2.

i don’t think this is a bad book per se, but i just didn’t care for it personally. the characters had no real depth to them, so i couldn’t understand why they did what they did. this author’s books tend to be more plot heavy, but i’ve seen this author succeed in characterization before. speaking of plot, i was interested enough to find out what happened, but the pacing was sort of weird. nothing really happens for the first third, then some smaller things happen (where the main character is more of an observer than an active participant), and there’s a bunch of action at the end.

i don’t recommend this book from this author, and would recommend some of her other books instead. however, KMod continues to be an author whose new releases i will pick up. they only take a few hours and don’t require too much brain power.

You’ll Never Know I’m Here audiobook comes out February 26, 2024. thank you to Dreamscape Media, Kiersten Modglin, and Netgalley for an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
