Six book influencers meet for a weekend getaway in a secluded town. Romance blossoms but so does other strange events.

This book kept me engaged. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. What a twist.

Thank you to Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape’s Street Team and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Yikes.

This audiobook was narrated by Stacy Gonzalez who was ... enthusiastic. I enjoyed her storytelling but it also stressed me out a bit because she seemed so breathless for most of it.

This was a pretty quick audio listen, though the story was a little thin. It revolves around a group of online 'book influencers' who have decided to meet up in person in the middle of nowhere. Because that would definitely be my first pick when meeting online friends for the first time.

I did enjoy the group coming together and getting to know one another in person - I think that's something a lot of us with online friends will relate to. Lena had some interesting delusions about Ethan, and it was a bit of a weak plot point, but it did mix things up a bit I guess. Wasn't looking forward to everyone coupling up but the group seemed to get along in general so the dynamics worked okay.

The murder plot is super thin and I never felt the thrills I think it was trying to deliver. I feel like close inspection would reveal some gaping plot holes - I found the way police dealt with things to be quite questionable and it soured me a little towards the story. I wanted better twists and stronger moments that swept me up in the story, but instead I had a lot of questions about the way things were playing out.

Overall, it just seemed a little weak to me, and the final reasoning for everything put me off completely. It was such a weird angle to take and I didn't buy it one bit. But I hadn't been blown away by the rest of the story so I was already disappointed by the time I got there.

An easy listen, but not particularly strong. I didn't hate it, but it won't be one that stays with me.

With thanks to Netgalley for an audio copy

I loved the premise of this book as a book reviewer myself. It ducked me in from the beginning, however I felt that the plot weakened by the end. The “why” of the book was a little far fetched for me. That being said, this author is an auto read for me and I can’t wait to read what she writes next!

KMOD is always good for a quick paced, thrilling, twisty ride. This is no different but the twist just didn't work for me. She's trying to say something here (kudos for that) but I wasn't here for it. That said, the whole book (aside from the ending) was good.

Would recommend if you love:
-locked room vibes
-book influencers
-fast paced (mostly)

Overall I liked and enjoyed this story, until we got to the big reveal and it just didn't work for me. The big reveal was a doozy but it came completely out of nowhere and was way too rushed. When it was revealed I considered DNFing but the were only about 20 minutes left in the audiobook. I liked the way this was written though as it kept me wanting to read to find out what in the world was happening in this small town.

note: normally I love a good epilogue when everything is resolved and we get a glimpse at the character's futures. This one was YAWN, I wanted more from the characters relationships standing.

The narrator was wonderful, in my opinion. Kept me engaged in the story and dialogue was easy to understand.

A bookfluencer mystery! As a social media "influencer" myself, this was a fun one. A group of bookfluence friends take a content creation trip together and one thing leads too another... no spoilers here though!

I had a personal connection to this premise so I personally really enjoyed it. It may be different for someone who does not.

Thank you @netgalley @dreamscape_media @kierstenmodglinauthor for the Audiobook.

“The dirty dancing movie my parents like so much” - personal attack on my millennial self 🥸

This novella is a funny, quick, comfy read. It gets major points for its book/bookstagram theme. What bookworm can resist a book that talks about books? It has charm and a romance subplot that felt well done but not too much.

For being a short book at just over 200 pages, I thought there was an imbalance of character development to plot development. I felt the mystery was rushed and was overshadowed by the great characters. I’d recommend it to any who likes books about books, likes mystery/thrillers, and needs a short/quick option.

The narration was good. I did not like all of the accents used to differentiate the characters (specifically Austin’s), which is a personal preference. Everything else about the read was enjoyable.

That was.... disappointing. I was there until the twist and then she lost me. It was bad. I thought maybe we'd get another twist in classic KMod fashion, but alas... nope.

I actually enjoyed most of the beginning and felt like Memphis and Lena's story would have made a fun romantic suspense, but even that fell flat.

The good news? The audio was really well done and this was a short read at just over 2 hours for me.

Every Kiersten Modglin book comes so close to being a book that I love but falls just short for me every time. I know one of them will eventually be one I love but I still have really liked every book by her.

You’ll Never Know I’m Here was an interesting premise that had me sucked in from the summary. A group of book influencers rent a house to all get together and meet up for the first time and it turns deadly. This was a short book and I felt it took a little too long to get going but once it got going it was a sprint to the finish.

There were some romance elements here which I did like and I felt it fit well into this fast-paced thriller. I was invested in the relationships and I wanted a happy ending for the main character Lena. The ending was not what I would call a bad ending but it wasn’t that strong either. The twist was not big enough and not all that surprising.

This is a fast read that you can finish in a day easily. I recommend all of Modglin’s books and this is no different, check it out

I recently had the pleasure of reading a book that resonated with me on a deep level. The story centered around a group of six book bloggers who, despite never having met in person, decide to embark on a weekend getaway at a secluded AirBnB. As I delved deeper into the book, I was captivated by the vivid and descriptive writing that made me feel as though I was a part of the group. However, I couldn't shake the eerie and unsettling feeling that rose within me as the bloggers arrived in the small town. It was as though the atmosphere held an evil energy that threatened to consume them.

The author, Kiersten Modglin, masterfully crafted a thrilling and terrifying tale. The unpredictable twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and I found myself fully invested in the characters' fates. I was both scared for them and excited to see how the story would unfold.

Overall, this was an exceptional read that left me with awe and admiration for the author's talent. I am grateful to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of the novel, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.

Kiersten Modglin's latest thriller, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW I'M HERE, is about six book influencers meeting up after connecting online. It sounds like a dream weekend, or could it be a living nightmare—something they all know all too well from the books they read.

Six book influencers plan a weekend getaway at a bed and breakfast to relax and discuss BOOKS. What is not to love? Right? They recommend thrillers and mysteries on social media. They write reviews. They are avid readers and book influencers. Who is reading and listening?

Lena, Mara, Paulette, Logan, Austin, and Ethan agree to meet at a remote B&B centrally located to fly in from different states for a fun weekend getaway and meet one another in person. Some have met previously.

Ethan booked the venue. However, it lacks amenities and things to do in this sleepy town. Memphis ends up as a last-minute replacement.

But something is off. The host is absent and an unexpected guest. Then, something sinister occurs with the neighbors, creating a locked-in thriller atmosphere like the fictional thrillers they read. Is is reality?

The group tries to solve the mystery of what is real and second-guesses their sanity.

They must escape this nightmare as the terror becomes more frightening! What is going on, and what is up with the strange people next door? Are the cops in on it, as they act like they did not see what they saw? Things get more creepy, bizarre, and unexplainable.

Their worst nightmares come to life in YOU'LL NEVER KNOW I'M HERE —a twisty, locked-room suspense thriller about the dangers of social media influences and obsession—a cautionary tale.

While I was not wowed by the crazy turn of events or the ending, it was entertaining. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Stacy Gonzalez for a spine-chilling performance.

Fast paced thriller. The narrator kept my attention and the plot kept me question. I was invested the whole story. The ending made me pause though.

Six bookstagram friends meet in real life - what a shame they chose a creepy secluded cabin in the woods! I love the premise, and the final message that books are wonderful, is so meaningful to me

Unfortunately, it felt so YA, so depth free and chipper it was hard to tolerate!

The audiobook narrator was so OTT, I didn’t know if it was her or the tone of the book that was the problem. The reactions were so exaggerated and extra, it was hard not to lol

It had a kinda lighthearted slasher feel to it, except it took a very long time for anything to get going. Instead it focused heavily on Leena and her loins *sigh*…. It was kind of atmospheric, but so chipper it felt like a spoof!

I usually enjoy Modglin’s light thrillers, but this was so void of depth, it was hard to take seriously. The final reveal wasn’t convincing but I did appreciate the poetic twist at the end

All in all a depth free, short, wish-it-was-better slasher

"You'll Never Know I'm Here" by Kiersten Modglin, narrated by Stacy Gonzalez, takes listeners on a spine-chilling journey into the depths of paranoia, deception, and the consequences of obsession. Set against the backdrop of a seemingly innocuous weekend getaway for six book influencers, Modglin weaves a gripping tale that blurs the lines between reality and nightmare.

The narrative kicks off with the promise of a relaxing retreat among like-minded individuals, but ominous undertones quickly surface. The absence of the host, an unexpected guest, and peculiar happenings in the vicinity set an eerie tone that intensifies with each passing moment. What begins as a casual gathering soon descends into a maelstrom of terror as the group finds themselves ensnared in a web of mystery and danger.

Modglin masterfully crafts an atmosphere of palpable tension, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats with each twist and turn. The dynamics among the characters are intricately drawn, their relationships and vulnerabilities adding depth to the narrative. As suspicions mount and trust becomes a scarce commodity, the group grapples with paranoia and fear, unsure of whom to believe or where to turn.

The heart of the story lies in its exploration of the dark underbelly of social media influence and the lengths to which individuals will go to maintain their online personas. Through the lens of the protagonists, Modglin delves into themes of trust, betrayal, and the insidious nature of obsession. The narrative serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the dangers of blurring the lines between reality and the curated facades presented online.

Stacy Gonzalez delivers a stellar performance as the narrator, capturing the mounting tension and emotional nuances of the characters with skill and precision. Her immersive storytelling brings the chilling events to life, drawing listeners deeper into the gripping narrative.

"You'll Never Know I'm Here" is a pulse-pounding thriller that will leave listeners breathless until the final revelation. With its intricate plot, well-drawn characters, and exploration of timely themes, Kiersten Modglin's latest offering is sure to captivate fans of the genre and leave them clamoring for more.

Narrated by Stacy Gonzalez, this one had an interesting premise. It explores social media influence and obsession in a gripping thriller. The slow-paced narrative builds tension but may test your patience. I admit, I was listening to it in the evening and I was bit creeped out.
While I was intrigued I also felt that the ending was a bit rushed. Stacy Gonzalez expressive narration adds atmosphere and it was easy to tell which character was speaking. I never felt lost with her narration. Overall, a suspenseful listen with a lingering desire for a longer satisfying resolution.

A very special thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the gifted ALC.

Six book influencers decide to go away for the weekend. They meet in a small town in the middle of nowhere. A perfect place to relax, create memories, and do some collaborations. However, once they arrive they find it’s not exactly what they pictured it to be. The host is not there, sending an unexpected guest to replace him. Then, there is the neighbors’ odd behavior. Things are definitely not as they seem here. This one has the middle of nowhere trapped feeling for sure.

I am a huge fan of Kiersten Modglin books and have read or listened to most of them. This one was slightly different. It was not as twisty in my opinion. I have come to know KMod as an author with jaw-dropping twists throughout. This one had one big twist towards the end, and I was not a fan. I actually enjoyed the book up until the big twist though. I really enjoyed the narration by Stacy Gonzalez. It was smooth and I never felt lost or confused with the story line. I listened to it in 2 sittings. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I just didn’t enjoy the twist. It definitely won’t stop me from reading KMod books in the future though! For these reasons, I give it 3.5/5 stars.

When six book influencers take a weekend getaway to connect with their fellow creators, it’s meant to be a chance to relax, collaborate, and discuss all of the books they love. From the start, something’s clearly amiss. From the host’s mysterious absence and an unexpected guest to an odd occurrence in town and the strange and worrisome behavior of the neighbors, what starts out as an innocent and lively vacation quickly becomes a weekend filled with terror. And when one of the group members believes they see something horrifying at the house next door, their carefully laid plans begin to unravel. Drawn into a mystery that runs far deeper and is more sinister than they could’ve imagined—and surrounded by those who refute their story—the group struggles to unearth the truth about the house and the couple next door before it’s too late.

This is every Bookstagrammer, BookTokker and BookTuber's dream - and nightmare. How amazing would it be to go and do a retreat with some of our Book Besties where we all stage photos and read a group read and play bookish games?! That is, until it starts turning sinister. Giving a locked in feel and using social media strangers to create extra tension, this one will leave you on the edge of your seat, especially for those who find this has a hint of realistic horror.

As always, KMod offers us a fast-paced and captivating read leaving everyone asking all the right questions. As a seasoned thriller reader, I didn't have a clue who could have been doing things and was left open mouthed towards the ending. There is a deeper meaning here in the book, as the book discusses topics that we see daily in the book world. Like censorism and banning of books that some communities see as 'unfit' in a way to create a conforming society.

This one might be a little slower for KMod's fans, but it is definitely one to add to your list if you love a quick and thrilling read. You'll Never Know I'm Here is available from February 27th, 2024.

Thank you @dreamscape_media @netgalley for a copy of this audiobook. A book about book influencers getting together for the weekend and something happens...I am in! I enjoyed the premise of the story and how real these bookstagrammers felt real with their ideas for pictures and collaboration. Lena sees something isn't right with the neighbors and calls the police. The bookstagrammers starts paying closer attention to the neighbors house and trying to figure out what happened. The twist for me is just kind of weird and the characters were all forgettable. The narrator did a great job with the different voices for the characters.

If Kiersten Modglin writes it, I am going to read it! Her books are fast paced, bingeable and always bring the twists. This book was no exception.

Six book influencers take a weekend getaway to connect, relax, collaborate and discuss all things books. But things are off from the very beginning and they soon find themselves trying to solve one of the mysteries that they so often read about. Only this one is going to test the limits of friendship and force them to decide if they can trust each other with their lives.

I was invested in this book and these characters from the beginning. I love KMod's writing style and lack of fluff. She uses only the words that need to be said. The first half of this book read much more like a suspense romance than a thriller to me. The second half was the typical twists you expect from KMod. I was all in until the ending. I don't want to give spoilers, so I'll just say that this ending was not for me. I appreciate what she was trying to do through the ending and know that it will absolutely hit the mark for many readers. It just didn't hit the mark for me.

Nonetheless, I will continue to read and recommend Kiersten Modglin books as binge worthy, twisty, fast paced books that you will never regret reading!

3.5 stars for me.

I have enjoyed stories from this author before so I requested this one hopeful to find another gem. However I quickly found myself frustrated and disinterested in these characters. I didn't care enough to see it through.

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

Who doesn't love a book about a bunch of book influencers coming together to meet and talk about books while on holiday. This a unique concept and with a thriller twist this book just brings it home for a reader.

I really loved the idea around the book, but I had some quirks with it. The characters were loveable and spontaneous and we even received a tight lip male character that made it so much more interesting. I am not fond of romance intertwining with a thriller genre type book but this one worked well as the romance wasn't too overwhelming. The twist at the end is were most of my disappointment lies. Its was flat, rushed and not a big major jaw-droppingly twist. I wouldn't say that I guessed the twist at all, just very rushed. The book had more character building than plot building with a decent cover throughout the book and then an ending that was too rushed and over far too quickly. Overall a decent read from our brilliant Kiersten, only needed more bang at the end.
