You'll Never Know I'm Here by Kiersten Modglin - Quick, easy, intriguing read. I thought I had the ending figured out but I was so wrong. I was shocked by the ending. This book was super interesting and took a super unique turn. Really enjoyed this book and also loved the narrator. Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC!

4 Stars!
Kiersten has quickly become a favorite thriller author for me. Her writing style has a way that draws readers in and keeps them engaged until the end. The writing style of this book was a little different than the ones I've read but I still loved it! I loved that this story focuses on a group of book influencers. I had the eerie feeling of the possibility that this story could've been played out in real life. This story was dark, dramatic, and twisty. All of which I want from a thriller!
Six book influencers gather for a weekend getaway to connect, collaborate, and relax. However, right off the bat something doesn't seem right about the small town they're staying in. The behavior of the occupants of the town gives off an eerie feeling. A situation occurs with their neighbors that turns what was supposed to be a weekend of relaxation into something of terror. The group has to work together to figure out the truth of what they saw and what truly happened, before it's all too late. The further they dive into the mystery the more shocking revelations come to surface. They don't trust the town, but can they even trust each other?
The narrator of this story did a phenomenal job! You can clearly depict each of the characters' different personalities. Also, the narrator was excellent at voicing the frustration, terror, and other emotions from the characters. I felt as if I was in the room with them.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and audio, I would recommend it!

This was such a fun thriller than was also a statement on the current state of Bookinfluencing and book banning. It was well narrated and the twist towards the end floored me.

3.5 ⭐️ I flew through this audiobook! It’s short, fast-paced thriller with a fun plot. As a self-proclaimed booktoker, I knew I had to read this when I read the summary. 😅 “You’ll Never Know I’m Here” is about a group of “book influencers” meeting in person for the first time for a bookish weekend getaway in an alarmingly quiet town. One friend bails at the last minute, a newcomer shows up unexpectedly, and weird things start happening at the neighboring house to the group’s AirBnB.
I liked the narration and flew through this book, only to find myself sorely disappointed by the end. After so much build up and clever plot points, the ending dropped this down from a 4 to a 3.5 star rating for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Modglin for the free audio ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a weird read for me, I enjoyed the beginning well enough but by the end it just felt kind of bizarre. The book follows a band of six book influencer friends who all meet in person for the first time where they essentially stay at an air bnb in a secluded town.
For me it seemed like the characters didn’t really have any personality and I honestly would forget about Logan being there without the author throwing a sentence about him every now and then to remind me. I also kept getting Mara and Pauline confused with each other as I felt like they were so similar in personalities they just blurred. I had a hard time believing this group of people were actually friends besides maybe Lena and Mara.
The pacing of the book was nice as it was relatively fast and nothing dragged for me. I read this via audiobook and personally didn’t care for the narrator. I admire the energy she put into it but it was just too much for me as it was over dramatic and took me out of the story at times.
Also, the last second addition to the group was a nice little surprise but I was weirded out when they confessed about something to Lena. It just felt so out of place for me and it just felt awkward rather than the romantic aspect the author was trying to add in.
Now for the ending, that’s where it all became so bizarre for me. I found it hard to believe that everything in the book happened because of what was finally revealed. It was just so out there it felt more silly than anything else.

Sigh. Another Kiersten Modglin for the pile. Again I wanted to like the book, based on the blurb about it, but once again, it’s a disappointment.
A bunch of book influencers (?) meet up for the first time in real life and bad stuff goes down as they begin to suspect each other has another motive for getting them together. All our favourite character tropes are there, including Hot Grumpy Man, Mary Sue, Horny Dude, Horny Gal, the Absent Friend, Useless Cops, and Tricksy Neighbours.
Why do I put myself through KM’s books? Like, I think every time the plot sounds interesting but the execution always falls short. This is an incredibly heavy-handed commentary on censorship, clumsily written and abruptly ended.
I gave it a shot, but I think I’m done with KM for now.
I received a free audiobook copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

You’ll Never Know I’m Here by Kiersten Modglin
Release Date: 2/27/24
Format: audio
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was written for book lovers and bookstagrammers. It was written for the thriller girlies. It was somewhat unbelievable but I didn’t care. I loved it!!
KMod always holds a special place in my heart but this book solidified that I want to be friends with her. It was so fun and fast paced! She also is really so phenomenal at weaving some romance into her thrillers which I always enjoy!
The narrator on this audiobook was so over the top to the point of distraction at points though, so I would recommend reading this one with your eyes vs. your ears if possible! Other than that, it was a very enjoyable thriller if you aren’t looking for anything super serious.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest opinion!

I'm going to start off first by saying I am a fan of Kiersten Modglin. I have always given her books an easy 4 or 5 star rating. When I read the synopsis of this novel I was immediately intrigued. Loved the idea of a group of book influencers meeting up for a weekend getaway. Of course, the retreat is located in a small mysterious town and immediately things are strange from the get go.
I received the audiobook from NetGalley to review. I honestly think I would have enjoyed this book so much more if I read it because the narration of this book made me physically cringe. The character voices were whiny and made some of the characters sound like airheads and valley girls from the 1980's. ( Yeah I am Valley Girl Days old) It was tough to listen to.
The story itself had promise but I just didn't like the characters to care enough what happened to them. The fact this a short novel did not leave much time for character development and the ending came in fast, rushed and unfortunately, was not the way I envisioned the novel going.
I am still a big fan of Kiersten's but this one didn't hit the mark for me and I did not like this narrator at all sadly.
2.75 stars (rounding up to 3 for Goodreads sake) Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook to listen to in exchange for my honest review.

I FLEW through this, but maybe for all the wrong reasons. I enjoyed it in the way you enjoy watching a train crash; you just can't look away from the mess. This entire book felt like a satire of a thriller book, but Modglin was completely sincere in her (mediocre) writing.
The first half was slow and full of boring fluff, annoying and harmful stereotypes, grating characters, and predictable plot points. The second half geared up and swerved into ridiculous, unrealistic, and plain dumb. On top of all that, it got so preachy at the end and I was rolling my eyes at Kiersten going into "I'm 14 and this is deep" territory.
What could've saved this book? Take a deep look and realize this writing is satire level and fully take it there. This would have been a fun satire, but since KM took herself too seriously it was not good. Also, THE TITLE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORY.
I know this review is a little harsh, but I KNOW Kiersten is a good writer, i've witnessed great books from her! Lately she's been pumping out short books that cater to boostagramers and influensters, and it shows.
Oh, the narrator was great- kudos, Stacy Gonzalez.

Here is a math problem for you:
If you start with 86 billion brain cells when you start a K-Mod book, how many are left after you finish? Read this review to find out!
Like all K-Mod books the initial buy in is good. She hooks you in with a punchy first few chapters so no matter what , no matter what shenanigans you know she is going to throw at you, you are going to stick around to the end, even though you know you will sorely regret it.
You'll Never Know I'M Here is no exception to this rule.
Unfortunately she just can't hold it together, characters become such extremes, men are either so immature and revved up on hormones or bullish and evil. The women could all benefit from the brain cells that are oozing out of your ears as you read the book, No offense to my blonde friends, but they are blonde.
The ending of this book was so. messy and not just in the literal sense. All in all K mod let the world know that people who are Pro Banning Books are crazy cultish religious psychopaths. Full Stop.
So dear reader how many brain cells remain......well lets just say stop reading this review and go pick up a crossword puzzle to build back some of that neuroplasticity.
Thank you Net Galley and Kiersten Modglin for this advanced copy of You'll Never Know I'm Here. I was not paid for this honest review.

This was a crazy nightmare of a story. All of bookstagrams worst fear. The audio was ok. Thanks for the chance to listen.

Six influencers set out to enjoy a quiet weekend of reading and co-promoting books, but when they arrive at the rental home in a small Kentucky town they find some very concerning neighbors. As the weekend continues, things escalate until the influencers start to wonder if they need to run for their lives.
I enjoyed this one while listening, but the first two thirds of this book was so similar to Modglin's previous book 'A Quiet Retreat' (in which five authors set out for a quiet weekend and things quickly become unsettling) that I stopped several times to check and see if it was a re-release or an updated version or something like that. When I re-read the description for the previous book I was shocked by how similar they are. So while I liked the characters and enjoyed the nod to reviewers and bookstagrammers, it truly just felt like I was re-reading the other book. Had no impact on my opinion of the author though, still one of my absolute favorites!

When 6 book influencers meet up they think it will be all book talk but one of the influencers witnesses something strange next door and everything that follows had me questioning everything.
We are thrown a twist early on and it seems like we will be solving a crime right away but we are mistaken right away. Something is going on next door to the house these influencers are staying at and they finally decide to figure out what that is the last night they are there.
I think the big shocking twist was kind of weird. I think because there weren't any clues to it and it was just an "out there" explanation. I still enjoyed this one and the mystery throughout!
3.5⭐

Thank you Kirsten Modglin, Netgalley and Dreamscape media for the audio arc of You'll never know Im here.
Ive heard a lot of positive stuff regarding Kiersten's books and it was the first read/listen for me. This is a fast paced thriller of a group of book influencers. As the story unravels and the tension starts to hike after one of them witnesses a possible murder on the next doors house. Do they report it? Or do they run ?
This narrative had a great spine of a storyline, making it an up to date whodunit. It felt well paced, starting off with great character building and getting a general sense of where they decided to get away to. Everyone felt like a suspect and the twists and turns were well executed.
Stacy Gonzalez is a great narrator for this sort of story line and I felt that she had a well paced voice. With a good sense of how her voice sounded whilst putting in the right emphasise to help with the increasing tension. I shall be reading more of Kiersten's books in the future.

In the lively world of Bookstagram, my journey unfolded amidst diverse book lovers. From discovering new reads to navigating different opinions, I was fully immersed in this digital community of fellow book enthusiasts.
In the end, I found comfort and a shared love for books that transcended individual preferences. Realizing that our Bookstagram community, much like the stories we cherish, is shaped by our collective experiences, truly resonated with me.
The author skillfully guided characters through various bookish adventures, and even though I may have expected a different ending, I could still appreciate the author's choices. Capturing the true spirit of our Bookstagram culture, the author left a lasting mark on my own journey through books.

A group of book influencers get together for a weekend away but something is not right. Can they trust each other and get out alive? This was one of K Mod's lighter reads. It cruised along at a steady pace and then bam, the twist at the end just hits you. I liked the Bookstagram content that had me nodding along throughout but just didn't feel the same wow with some of her other storylines. Still a decent read however and the narration was fantastic.

KMOD always delivers a fast paced, gripping and thrilling read. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job! I listened to this book throughout the day and enjoyed it immensely right until the ending and then I was sitting in my chair thinking "Say what?", "Seriously?" and "Are you kidding Me?" The entire book was smooth sailing until the ending which was like skating on thin ice.
Six book influencers decide to go away for the weekend to content, relax, have good times, and create memories. Heck, they may even discuss a book or two (or three). Sounds wonderful right? That would be a dream for me. But alas, this becomes a nightmare for them! The home they rented is in a small town and away from things, giving it that middle of nowhere trapped feeling. Throw in a bizarre sighting and you have yourself a hard to put down book (or audiobook in my case)!
I was hooked and fully invested the whole way but then the ending just didn't work for me. I don't want to say much more than that to avoid spoilers. I really struggled how to rate this as I was digging this book until the ending. Most of us have been there, loving a book until the end.
Great audio narration, entertaining, fast paced.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Like all of Kiersten Modglin's books I couldn't out this one down. This story is about 6 book influences that meet for the first time on a weekend holiday. The weekend goes terribly wrong when Lena notices something strange happening next door. The police arrive but find that nothing has happened. Is she seeing things? This is a great book with all the twists I have come to expect from the author. Overall, it's a great read just clear your day before you start.

Narrator 3 stars
Book 4 stars
I’ve always been a big Kiersten Modglin fan, her writing is consistent and she never fails to surprise me with her twists!
The narrator was a little over the top enthusiastic, while still better than monotone, it just didn’t work for me.
This book follows a few book influencers who decide to meet up in a secluded central location. They don’t really know each other, and people from the town seem strange. As a part of the bookstagram community, I totally appreciate having our aspect in a book, and also LOVED the Chandler Bing quote thrown in!
This was an easily bingeable popcorn thriller, super fast paced and kept me entertained the whole time. I would probably just recommend the book over the audio.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC!

This is a great psych triller for all the book lovers out there! I think this will highly resonate with my Bookstagram & Booktok friends as the MCs are also book influencers. The setting, a rural rental home where the MCs are meeting each other for the first time, provides the perfect chilling vibe. This was a quick, solid suspense thriller and I can't wait to continue reading more by Modglin.
